1. My Ashdown Spyder 550 (which I'm selling here) would be perfect paired with a Barefaced Super 12. Just saying...
2.
Is there a way to rack this one????
No... This is not te rack mount version. You could either buy a protective cover or a hard case for it.
3.
Bargainalicous deal for a terrific amp!
It is a terrific amp indeed. I really don't understand why Ashdown discontinued it. I have a feeling that if they had marketed it better this would have been a massive hit.
4. Hey guys! This one used to be mine and it's one of my all time favourite amps. I sold it a while ago to one of my guitar player mates who was at the time trying to get some extra work as a bass player. Turns out it wasn't as easy to be a bass player as he thought it would be I bought it back off him a couple of months ago driven by nostalgia. I still love it to bits and have used it a few times, but I just have too much gear again and this one has to go. It's a killer amp and, in my opinion, the closest you can get to an all valve experience. I'm gonna paste bellow the text from my original ad: So what you got here is the dual valve preamp found in the Ashdown 427 Small Block combined with the tried and tested ABM power amp. What I really like about the ABMs is that all the notes (even when played on the G string) have all the "weight" that you expect from a bass amp. All the notes are thick and full. This amp preserves that, but in comparison to an ABM I would say it's a got a bit more bite. A bit more presence in the mix. It's a very versatile amp too. The controls interact with each other a lot and there's a lot of tonal options available, specially when using the switches. I found the Spyder has a more vintage sound (in an Orange kinda vibe) with the switches up and a more "modern" sound with the switches down. Using any combination of them gives you a plethora of sounds to choose from. As a final note. I know Ashdown amps get a bad reputation for being "muddy", or "wooly", but I never experienced that. Probably due to the fact that I always used mine, both ABM and Spyder, with good cabs (Aguilar for a while, and Barefaced for most of the time). I got nothing but compliments to my sound when using this amp with my Barefaced S12. It's a killer rig! Of course Ashdowns are not SWR's, so if you're looking for cut-glass treble, you would probably be better off with something else. If you're looking for a BASS amp that sounds like a BASS amp and cuts to any dense mix like a knife, look no further. These are not great amps for the price. They are great amps. Period. The amp now has two Tung-Sol AX7, which are my favourite of all the valves I tried with this amp. I'm also including the two original generic Chinese ones and two JJ AX7 Gold Pins for you to play around with and find your favourite ones too. Price is £250 collected from Finchley, North London. Trials are welcome. Bring your cab, bass... Whatever you want. Or you can try it through my Aguilar cabs too. I found a suitable box so I'm considering posting it at buyer's expense now. Thanks for looking! Eddie Video I recorde using the amp. The signal is a mix from the miked up cab and the post eq DI on the Spyder: https://www.youtube....2M&spfreload=10
5. It's times like this you need a like button on Basschat. Beautiful bass! GLWTS
6. Hope you don't mind the slight thread hijack, but if anyone is looking for a vintage white I have an exceptional one for sale here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/249836-fsft-brand-new-and-upgraded-fender-fsr-jazz-bass-aerodyne-in-vintage-white-mij-l500/page__pid__2617648#entry2617648 These basses are really as good as they look and I'm really sad I'm having to sell mine. I was working on some demos with it today and it makes me even more upset about having to let it go. I'll see if I can upload something I recorded today to my add page. Cheers
7.
What's the weight please ?
Just weighted it and it's 4kg (or 8.8lbs). Most importantly, it balances perfectly with no neck dive at all. I don't even use a fancy strap and it's like you don't even have a bass on.
8.
Is this the one that was in Wunjos?
Nope.
9. Hey guys, Utterly gutted for having to sell this so quick, but... An unexpected massive bill leaves me with no other option at the moment. My loss, your gain. This is one of the few Japanese normally non-export Fender FSR Jazz Bass Aerodynes that Fender UK brought to these shores recently. Fender Japan build quality as you expect. No uneven frets, perfect neck joint, beautifully finished all around in stunning vintage white with black binding, great neck... You have to search hard among US Fenders to find one so well put together. I bought it around a month ago and did all the upgrades that I originally intended to do and this is a killer bass now! It now sports Seymour Duncan pickups. The P pickup is a SPB-1 and the J is a STK-J2B. They sound beautiful soloed or in any kind of blend you fancy and the tone control really does work, adding even more flavours to its sound. This is a very versatile bass. I also replaced the electrics with one of very our own KiOgon's wiring looms with CTS 250K pots (two volume and one tone control), a .05 cap for the tone control and a Switchcraft jack. I put a set of Status premium roundwounds (.45 - 105), set it up with a low but not too low action to allow for some dig in room and it's just a dream to play now. No fret buzz, no dead spots and the neck is just what you expect from a good Jazz Bass. I'm asking £500 for it which I think it's a great price considering what they cost new, which this one virtually is with no marks or blemishes whatsoever, and all the upgrades it has now. The loom cost me £40 including new knobs since the original ones wouldn't fit in the new pot's shafts + around £100 for the pickups. The original pickups and electrics are also included. It comes with a brand new gig bag which I also had to buy because Fender doesn't include one in the deal. Trials are more than welcome through my Aguilar rig or you can bring your amp too. I live in Finchley, North London. This is a collection or meet up for delivery only kinda deal. I just edited the post because now I'm considering trades for something of less value (bass, amp...) that might be easier for me to sell afterwards. I really don't need any more gear right now, I just need the cash. Thanks for looking! Eddie
10. Here you go. My brand new Fender Jazz Aerodyne in vintage White all pimped up with Seymour Duncan pickups. First gig last night and it sounded great!
11. Second time I buy one of John's wiring kits. As everybody here already knows... Top product, top service and top guy. Thanks, John!
12.
is that the lemon one? i like the lemon one
The one I got is not the lemon one. It's this one: http://www.jimdunlop.com/product/formula-no-65-guitar-polish--cleaner
