  1. I went from 10 down to 7 and back to 8 today.
  2. Never even gave that a thought but you're right enough A lot of the song titles have similar names tho
  3. Have to say its one of the nicest necks i've played in a long time especially for this kind of money its superb. Its definitely a modern feel to the neck but still very very nice and such a fast neck. No stray fret noise even when playing hard. Not sure what height the strings are but i reckon they are below 2mm. Think i'll need to get used to how light the bass feels compared to my Jazz bass or even my PJ deluxe. Perfect balance on the strap too. Has a nice punchy mid tone with a little bit growl when driven hard with both pick-ups on evenly. I've got the treble back a bit but no need to boost the bass at all at home volumes and i can play quite loud at home but things start rattling off shelves if i go overboard so i like to keep it at normal hi-fi listening levels to play along with. Dave
  4. Got this from the Budgie FB page today. Had to laugh at some of the reasons. Specifically the reason for banning the punk bands.
  5. Bass just arrived 30mins ago and have only really just had time to tune it and play around for a short period. So far the neck feels super fast with a very low action and really well set up out the box. Strings are Stainless Steel and they have a very bright tone but they don't really feel much different to the various nickel strings i've been using. I changed to nickel because they were less damaging to my fingertips but might stick with the steels depending on how long they last. In active mode there is so much choice in pickup selection along with treble and bass EQ cut / boost. In Passive mode the treble doesn't really do very much but maybe with a bit more volume from the amp it might change things a little. To be honest i like the everything set in mid points on active mode. Can't believe just how good the neck feels. Little wider than my Geddy Jazz but less than my Overwater J4 and maybe even less than my Warwick. Both my Warwick and Jazz have slim depth of neck tho whereas the Sandberg has a little more depth of neck. The feel is really good tho and allows for some very fast playing. EQ offers some amazing low end and you do need to boost the bass a little when just using the MM pick up on its own. Sounds very full and i can see where some people have said the tone has no character. It does sound quite clean and none of the "warmth" associated with Fender J or P basses. The tone isn't too far away from my Fender PJ Deluxe tho when in active mode. Bit more depth i'd say. Anyway time for lunch and then a bit more playing with the bass.. Here's a wee pic of the new bass hanging out with some friends. Dave
  6. That's the very clip i was thinking off. Cheers for that wee memory. Dave
  7. The phone or ipad, tablet thing is becoming quite common these days and many singers now use that as a aid for their lyrics. Dave
  8. Old school safety net having a hard copy. I like it. Dave
  9. Not seen this question before so thought i would have a bit of fun with it. Where do you keep your set list during the gig ? Personally i prefer mine to be stuck to the face of the wedge monitors but generally somewhere discreet and not obvious to an audience. Thoughts ? Dave
  10. I remember in 80's seeing a band called Parker (i think that was there name) doing Black Dog by Zep and the bass player was using one of those Staccato basses. What a fantastic tone he had and it still sticks in my head to this day. Dave
  11. Yep agree the nearest you could get to the real Gene IMO To be fair the full band were excellent. Haven't seen them since Cetera left tho. Dave
  12. If its still there this time next year i might but i reckon it will sell quickly. Even with some excellent Malts in use i don't think i could justify that to my wife (the real boss) Dave
  13. Cerys Matthews !!!! that's who i was thinking off and couldn't quite put my finger on it. Its like adding an oustanding pop singer like Cerys to a Prog band. What a great combination it makes and def appeals to a wider audience. Dave
  14. Drink more vintage Malt whisky. Usually helps me decide.
  15. Looks as tho its either been relic'd or its a good age. Nice looking bass and prefer yours to the one i found on google images. Very nice and thanks for sharing pic Dave
  16. I can see another bass in your household soon.
  17. googled and its one of these maybe a different colour tho but looks nice. Had never heard of them before this. Dave
  18. And they would make a nice couple apart from the fact it would cost me a fortune to buy two Sandbergs. She is a beaut tho. Dave
  19. What's that look like ? Never heard of it before. Dave
  20. In past tribute bands we mostly copied the original recordings but where a live recording of the band was more famous we did that version but generally speaking it was the original album songs or singles if they were released. Think there's something to be said for capturing the essence no matter what version you do tho. Its an interesting question and i'm curious to see what comes back. Dave
  21. I saw that advertised on Amazon suggested pages mainly because i look at a lot of Glam Rock material for my own band.
  22. STOP IT you guys. This isn't fair. My new bass will be dispatched today so hopefully arrive Tues / Wed. Dave
  23. Yep that would be a great match. Magnum fall in between Prog and Rock so any good classic rock band will also work. You have a good platform for teaming up with other bands because of that. Maybe not so much with heavy metal bands but you never know. Jings i'm excited for you Pete. Dave
  24. Think it should be ok provided you have isolated power supplies like the Trex or something similar. Don't daisy chain as that can cause problems with several pedals. Dave
  25. You also have the Festival circuit over the Summer months Peteb altho its maybe a little late to get on the listings this year but you should give that a try. They usually have some cancellations at festivals. Check what's near you. Dave
