  1. Think any regular gigging band shouldn’t need a rehearsal every week or so
  2. I did go back and read that 😀
  3. You are def a bad influence 😜😀
  4. I like Bass Direct and service is great. GAK have also been excellent for me but I know one of the sales managers and I get great deals next day delivery. Used Guitar Guitar and that was ok but delivery was day later than next day but that was down to courier who decided no other deliveries in my area so it can wait a day. They are only 30 miles from me and I could have collected myself if I had known. Their tracking said out for delivery but when I called they told me real story. Used Thomson but the amp was knackered on arrival and I got hit with various bank charges. Not used them since but they were pretty good and helpful. Overall I’ve been happy with most shops but I use Amazon for loadsa stuff without many issues.
  5. I’ve mostly been 40-100 gauge over past 40yrs with variations tried just out of curiosity. When I bought my Thumb bass new in 89 it came with Elites 35-95 and I stuck with them for many yes until in a heavy rock band I went back to 40-100 again to get that heavier sound. I find the 35’s easier to play but prefer overall tone and balance across the strings with 40-100’s. heavier strings feel too tight for me and I always go back to light or extra light strings depending on company you buy from
  6. Bank of Scotland told me they don’t refund if your PayPal is paid by direct debit. I lost £130 when Gift Experience went into liquidation. They said the payback scheme is only for card payment protection. Was over 6 mths before I knew about it so PayPal not interested. Maybe I should change to a better bank.
  7. Not just about the destination, it’s the journey that makes it more interesting. I look at rehearsals as part of the journey towards playing Wembley Arena. 😜 Dave 🤩
  8. If you use a direct debit for PayPal so that any transaction automatically comes from your bank account the bank won’t refund you for any purchase. That’s what they told me. It’s only when you transfer money each time to PayPal.
  9. It def is a powerful amp. Oddly enough our guitarist is selling me his EBS Reidmar 750 that he no longer uses. I like a back up amp and it’s a lightweight amp too.
  10. Doesn’t get much better than that. Gig ticked all the right boxes for you and serious compliments. Well done
  11. Happy for you sir. Nice to hear a positive story. Dave
  12. I use PayPal a lot too but just to buy. Is bank transfer a better option ?
  13. Well done with the new direction you’ve taken. Sounds like a good move. Dave
  14. I’ve used JMB also Bandmix although you need to pay for it and Gumtree had some success. Others are Facebook and Musicians In Your Area site altho I personally haven’t used those two yet.
  15. 100% spot on. If no enjoyment I don’t see the point unless it’s your livelihood and that changes how you view things.
  16. As long as the band is making progress I enjoy rehearsals. Current band we all get along really well so rehearsing is still enjoyable. With some other bands maybe not so much and in some cases it’s been hard work and more a chore.
  17. We also record but just use a phone to be honest and its been good enough to clearly hear the overall sound and any mistakes. We are all driving to rehearsals so coffee is the mid break aperatif. I'm not a drinker these days and drive to all gigs. Not fussed either way about being the dedicated driver if we use a van. Drummer same as me. Dave
  18. Cheers Pete, My Ampeg was very temperamental and unreliable whereas these amps are renowned for their build quality. Great back up amp to have around but seems a bit overkill now that i don't have the Ampeg. Since selling the Ampeg this is now completely redundant and no point in it sitting in its box when someone can get the use of a great amp. I've experimented at home with the amp and it's a very versatile piece of kit. Can't really fault it in that respect. Dave
  19. I'm new to wireless but went for the Smooth Hound. Only negative for me is the transmitter. I use a small strap pack and just keep it in there rather than plug direct into bass mainly because its easier if changing bass rather than suction pads that come with it. Also means i can unplug it easily if taking a break during gig or rehearsal. Dave
  20. Yep with you there. Very annoying
  21. GK1001RBii in mint conditions. This amp has no marks, scratches or dents as shown in the pics. Looking for £400 plus P&P (including full insurance) which i think is a fair price for an "as new" condition amp. (Currently £769 in GAK) Still have the original manual, box and packaging (Rack is not included) Had this a few yrs as a back up to my Ampeg SVT 4 Pro but never actually used. I've taken it to rehearsals on very rare occasions maybe 3-4 times to see how it sounds. Its been kept in a rack unit as shown in pics and used in the house a few times. I took the feet off to put in my rack but will either refit or include in the box along with screws. Its a great amp head and can produce anything from clean to that dirty GK sound we all know. Very powerful amp and rated at 700W + 50W when bi-amped for tweeter output. If you're reading this you'll know just how reliable and well built these amps are. You'll know all its features including Contour, Presence and Boost feature to get that dirty GK tone. Dave
  22. Stagecraft
  23. That was nice. Thanks for sharing. enjoyed it a lot.
  24. I'm guessing they can at no cost and want to get to gigging level very very quickly Dave
