  1. Appreciate that Ricky but i just love looking at basses. If they play well even better. That Ric is really interesting tho and such a rare find. Def a keeper there i would think. Not tried the Vintage basses but they get some seriously good reviews. The blue bass also looks interesting too Bet you haven't shown her this comment or you'd be wearing a frying pan on your ear Dave
  2. Different reasons Blue but best not open up that can of worms again Dave
  3. Aye but you don't look anywhere near 66. So get in there fella. Dave
  4. What Ric version is it. ? Not seen one like that before with single pick-up. Jazz looks interesting too. Dave
  5. I just knew you had a Ric for some reason. Couldn't quite put my finger on why Should you not have had them facing the camera or are they shy Dave
  6. Great set of basses. You could cover any style from that collection. Very nice sir. Dave
  7. And that says it all. And that's from a hard working gigging band so well done. I'd be happy with that comment. I'm with you on the number of gigs tho. I gave one up a few yrs ago because they were gigging every Fri, Sat and some Sun afternoons and i thought that was too much. I'm happy with one a week or even 2 a month to be honest. Dave
  8. If its a band i definitely want to be in i will put more effort into learning the songs note for note and depending on the band when i meet them i will either play exactly what's on the song or i will put my own style on it. I tend to play quite aggressively or should i say with vigour. That can change how a song comes across. Most times that will work at an audition as i generally play in some form of Rock whether it be classic, Prog, Funk / Blues rock or current band Glam Rock so that energetic approach while playing can change a song from being ok to the band really getting into the groove because it sounds more energetic. I'm always punctual and i have my notes if required and a pen. I have everything i'll ever need for an audition with me. Leads replacement strings, batteries, spare leads, tuner etc. I like to be flexible at auditions and if a band wants to change how a song sounds i'll happily go along with or make suggestions as required. That and the fact i'm just a nice person and easy to get along with provided the band aren't simply time wasters. Dave
  9. So you don't keep them all in the boot of the car
  10. Yep Chewie came from Build-a-Bear few yrs back when i was doing the Xmas shopping. Just couldn't resist having him. If you haven't done Build-a-Bear yet then give it a try. Great fun and i guess i'm just a big kid at heart It is a miniature replica of my Warwick Thumb. The Warwick being my most valued bass from a sentimental reasons. I like my toys. Just never grown up. Sorry to hear about the nerve issue but hopefully you can play the shorter scale basses without issue. The Sandberg is definitely a great bass to play. First gig with it on Saturday at our drummers birthday party. Should be fun. Dave
  11. That'll teach you to laugh at me
  12. I tend to play hard at times with my plucking hand so i think this will be as low as i would take it. If i hit really hard on the G string i get a little fret noise but not enough to worry me. Sometimes its nice to hear that little bit of fret noise when digging in. Dave
  13. Just to add another wee note :- String height at 12th fret on the E string is approx 1.25mm. That's the lowest i've ever played on. Mark from Vintage and Cool told me had spent some time setting the bass up altho its very easy on Sandbergs because of the pleck'd necks. My normal playing height is around 1.8 - 2.0mm except on 5 or 6 stringers Dave
  14. Thanks you sir. I've ran out of those wee smiley emoji things so thought i would thank you and everyone else for replying. Its nice to share happy moments with fellow Bass players (bassists for those that are professionals) Dave
  15. Yes you do. I know i was curious about that one
  16. I've ran out of wee laughy type things or likes but i'm enjoying the comments just in case you think i'm avoiding you. Dave
  17. Refined Punk ??? Maybe it was the trancendance of Punk ??? Afraid i only really know the more famous punk songs that were in the charts at the time. Was never really a follower of punk but i enjoyed a lot of it. The long hair down to my waist kind of flew in the face of punk. I was seen as "the enemy" Dave
  18. The more i've played it today the more i love the neck on this bass. Very comfy. Just feels right. Dave
  19. The very one and Mark gave me a great deal. Very easy to deal with too. Would certainly go back to him. He has set this bass up amazingly well with a very low action, but the neck is superb on it. Haven't quite got used to its lightweight feel tho but its no big issue. Dave
  20. Where are your PC manners. Red Indians indeed. tsk tsk tsk.
  21. Ramones was the one i liked .........PUNK
  22. Village People ......violence Handbags at dawn you mean
  23. Brilliant
  24. I tend to buy basses for specific projeccts as i've never found one bass that does it all for me. My Jazz coming closest to it and i'll see how the Sandberg gets on over the next year. Who knows i may still end up with a standard American P bass
  25. I went from 10 down to 7 and back to 8 today.
