Hello folks, I've got this very nice MIM Fender Standard P-Bass neck with rosewood fingerboard for sale. It's hardly had any playing so the frets are great and the rosewood is dark with a lovely grain. Included are the original machineheads, neck plate and screws. As I said, it's had very little use so it's in great nick. I'm looking for NOW SOLD and I'll include 'signed for' delivery within the UK in at that. Bank transfer is preferable, but paypal (gift?) payment would be ok if that's not possible. Anyone interested from overseas, give me a shout and I'll get a postage price for you. Any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Cheers
Is anybody else reading this and thinking that if you have to turn off features that are commonly agreed to be a waste of time, be careful how you connect the cabs for fear of idiosyncratic 'features' and then if all else fails declare it faulty, an ABM head might be a bad idea?
Personally ive tried lots of amps and ashdown abm's have always shone through as the best sounding for me. The sub octave is just an effect and should be used as such. It works for some things but not others; I don't think there's many who would have it on all the time. One thing I do know is that when a lot of the eq is cut, that reduces the volume significantly more than I've noticed on other makes/models. Subsequently when boosted it adds a lot more volume. Deffo worth playing about with the eq because as I said before, there should be more than enough volume in an abm head for most gigs.

Anyone tried both ER15 and ER9 filters? I see most people get the 15's but interested to know how they compare in a band situation.

Hartke are great value for money, but I've got an Ashdown ABM500 and an ABM300 and at 4ohms they're both easily loud enough with tonnes to spare. And this is in a loud rock/punk band with a very enthusiastic drummer . The VU rarely enters the red. Any ABM lacking volume into two correct cabs would certainly suggest to me there's a fault.

Do we convince ourselves that expensive strings sound better?
danhkr replied to morsefull's topic in Accessories and Misc
I use Elixir, not because they sound particularly better than cheaper strings, but because they last 4, maybe 5 times as long. They've also got a really smooth feel due to the coating. Generally, aside from absolute dirt cheap sets which the majority I've found to be clanky and rough, I've found most £12 to £30 sets are much of a muchness. Roto RB's and Fenders for example are to me as good as Slinky's, D'addario etc, but can be picked up for nearly half the price. Pricey strings that did sound particularly good were DR and Dunlop, but again they didn't really last long enough to justify the cost unlike Elixirs. I guess even if I could get 3 or more decent sets for the price of one Elixir set, its still 3 times more string changing and breaking in etc. So yeah, probably one of the most expensive sets is my preferred choice, but apart from them, I'm not sure you always do 'get what you pay for'. -
Advice needed fitting a Mighty Mite P Neck
danhkr replied to Billy Apple's topic in Repairs and Technical
Just to hijack the thread for a moment (because it's pretty current), I'm thinking of getting a mighty mite P neck for a MIM std P body (2004). Aside from drilling the holes, is the neck likely to fit straight in, or are any additional adjustments/routing likely to be required? -

Give me a great band over the pomp and production any day, but took the missus to the Manchester show and for what it was, it was great. It's not everyone's thing and I imagine it wouldn't appeal to most on BC, but I'd rather see this sort of gig than some crooners like westlife sat on stools singing ballads all night. In their field Take That are certainly the best. As for the actual 'band', it's funny that for 99% of the punters they probably went completely unnoticed, yet it's the type of gig where the pressure to perform absolutely perfectly must be so high.
