1. Quite possible. Custom Sound / Fal / Fane Yorkshire connections perhaps? https://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=https%3A%2F%2Fi.ebayimg.com%2F00%2Fs%2FNzY1WDEwMjQ%3D%2Fz%2FGzIAAOSwpLNX8OUU%2F%24_118.JPG&imgrefurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.gumtree.com%2Fp%2Fguitar-bass-amplifiers%2Ffender-bass-amp-%2F1178467406&docid=0elgr3Ugfhm7fM&tbnid=JxVLJLrHkjRFwM%3A&vet=1&w=275&h=205&itg=1&bih=874&biw=1280&q=custom%20sound%20bass%20amp&ved=0ahUKEwikp4GB6uzQAhWeHsAKHYkDATUQMwhGKB8wHw&iact=mrc&uact=8
2. Plenty more about this on another thread here - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/296093-darryl-jones/page__st__30__p__3185880__hl__darryl%20jones__fromsearch__1#entry3185880
3. I'm not crazy about the look of clip on tuners either to be honest, but much prefer that to having a pedal / extra cable in my signal chain and maybe compromising my sound :-)
4. Snark clip on. Accurate enough, and no need to have a lead to check tuning. I have a few and they've all been 100% reliable. Gave up on rack tuners as just a bit too much faff. Also, no extra cabling needed between guitar and amp (or amp and tuner if you use tuner out etc...)
5. I quite like his voice to be honest. The gig shown last night proved how well he can sing, didn't falter once to my ears. The band were exceptional too, especially the drummer as mentioned above. As for his being 'half forgotten', this from Wiki - Two days before the album was released in the Netherlands, Williams received a gold edition of the album during his appearance on RTL Late Night on 2 November 2016 for over 20,000 pre-orders of the album in the country. It debuted at number 1 on the UK album's chart with combined first week sales of 67,000 copies sold.[sup][12][/sup] Maybe not as impressive as his previous releases, but still doing it.....
6. Just watched the programme on ITV. Whatever you think of Robbie, still some great songs there. And a top band too, with Guy Chambers back in the fold on keys For me, Robbie falls into that category of 'quite like some of the music, don't particularly want to watch him perform it though' - along with Elton, Cliff, Buble etc.
7. Mine is an early 90's one, 230v. Was n't aware of any materials issues TBH. Love these amps though, it's a keeper.
8. Just got one of these, black with matching headstock. Used it at a gig last night. Wow! Fabulous bass, especially for the money. Serous threat to my Danelectro Longhorn....
9. Interesting also that no mention made of Chuck Leavell, Stones keyboardist and (unofficial?) MD, who has been with the band both live and in the studio since the early 1980's.
10. I've used one of these and it's great! Sansamp copy for next to nowt. http://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Behringer-GDI21-V-Tone-Guitar-Preamp/2PY?origin=product-ads&utm_campaign=PLA+Shop+-+Behringer&utm_medium=vertical_search&network=google&adgroup=1+-+Product+Level+-+Behringer&merchant_id=1279443&product_id=3526d1&product_country=GB&product_partition_id=111959019199&gclid=CJKZzOrT0NACFS4o0wodLPALFg
11. Agreed, so not a news item , especially with the implied racist overtones. Other bands which spring to mind whose set up is in a similar vein include Wet Wet Wet & The Mavericks. Seem to remember The Hollies once sacked singer Allan Clarke and then hired him on an ad hoc basis for tours and recording etc??
12. Sounds to me like you need the monitor. With a small one such as the Behringer you mention ( a copy of the Mackie SRM150) you have the option of running just your mike in and then out of it to the main mixer. By doing this you can add just enough of your voice into what you hear from the PA. This may turn out to be not that much to interfere with stage levels drastically, but can make all the difference to you. Also they are quite directional, so experiment with where you place it. This arrangement is also useful when you don't have the facilities for lots of monitor mixes ( auxiliary sends) on your mixer. In my pub band I use a JBL Eon 10 powered speaker in the same way, and can't now believe how I managed without it. Hope you get things sorted :-)
13.
IME only the very biggest names playing original music, or the songwriters in long running bands with a large back catalogue can get away with not having some other source of income during the times when the band isn't touring or recording.
From my experience, working in a professional band whilst trying to work around all the member's various day careers / day jobs can be a nightmare, resulting in the inevitable conflicts of interest unless you are very fortunate. Maybe best if we define the term 'professional'? This can appear to mean 'relating or belonging to a profession', or alternatively 'engaged in a specific activity as one's main paid occupation rather than as an amateur', which is the definition that usually springs to my mind. And let's not get into figuring semi-pro....
14. Professional band, all with day jobs? Mmmm.......approach with caution.
15. Cracking deal today Tuesday 22/11/16 only! http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/newsletter/preview/171?utm_source=Thats-literally-2-for-1&utm_medium=email&utm_term&utm_campaign=%5B2016-11-22%5D+%5B171%5D+%5BThat%27s-literally-2-for-1%21%5D
16. Judging from the pics the GPS amp is a 1500 model. Would you consider selling it on it's own, and posting too? Cheers.
17. I broke my shoulder / arm a few years ago, and playing bass guitar was not an option for a few months. I bought a Roland D5 synth off here, and my band very graciously allowed me to play my parts on this. Sounds were not 100% convincing bass guitar, but played through my bass rig and then into the PA it was fine. I didn't have anyone come up on gigs and ask why there were now 2 keyboard players in the line up, or comment on the bass sounds. A hideously low-fi solution I know, but needs must etc ,and as a pro musician it saw me through until I was well enough to return to bass guitar. I actually quite enjoyed the change to be honest, and found it liberating not having to wear a bass on long gigs. Was great to get back to my Stingray though.....
18. Always done it as well, never had a problem. Reminded me of this too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8OYeN9mAL4
19. Still a cracking deal for someone though surely? Sold my SVT rig for a grand over 20 years ago, still miss it.
20. I thought it was fantastic. Great film with lots of interesting location shots, totally absorbing.
21. Just checked - this is on Saturday 19th, Channel 4 at 11pm. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-rolling-stones-ole-ole-ole
22. You definitely need some way of playing along with songs / tracks to make sense of what you're doing. I use a small mixer for both recorded stuff and my bass, and then into headphones. Lines which sound dull and uninspiring come alive when put into context.
23.
The driver is one one aspect of the design. The cabinet is as much if not more, that is why some of the boutique makers charge so much. Add to that they are made in the developed world, not the far east and in many cases are pushing the designs, and supporting the customer, in ways that major manufacturers are not. And of course if you don't like the price but the cheaper one.
Take your point, but my Peavey was made from US components, and assembled in the UK (Corby?). Some 1x12 cabs with a r.r.p. of nearly a grand do make me wonder TBH.
