Definitely an underwhelming, and ambitiously priced, step into the arena. It’s not sounding like anything too interesting either, they’ve dressed up a tone knob well, not sure otherwise if it’s just standard Cog circuitry with the blends missing. If so, why has it just got Barefaced on the front plate?
  2. Definitely interested in what the new one is like. Won’t buy one new and put money in Spencer’s pocket for “reasons” but I do like the look of them and the separate volumes are a must for sure, may keep a cheeky eye on the classifieds...
  3. Sooo, what are we thinking about this? The parallel cleans alternative to a blend is intriguing, and if designed by Cog we know it must work well! congested old arena, though... https://barefacedaudio.com/products/machinist?variant=32901578752085

Stunning, what a beautiful bass! Can see how easy that would have been to Impulse buy!

I share this opinion for sure. The videos I have listened to, including the ones posted earlier in this thread, just sound so generic. Good imitations for sure, but seemingly with no unique character at all. Since Sims released these as well, it has become pretty common place for companies to build humbuckers that can be wired however you want on 4 way rotary switches and the like. Unless I am missing something, the only "unique" thing they do is the split coil option?
  6. I think that’s probably best mate. It’s a gamble that rarely pays off.
  7. Well, that's annoying 😂
  8. If DHL don't delivery Saturdays, it could well be that it's loaded in a van for Monday?
  9. Bargain!!
  10. It looks like it is an older StarBass II. It definitely isn't a Masterbuilt and it's RRP would have been nothing like 6000 odd Euros, so don't worry, it wasn't that good a deal!! I'm pretty sure I'm right that there didn't used to be a Masterbuilt version, however there now is, and the teambuilt is not a II and does not have bubinga, nor brass frets/nut anymore. It probably was a nice example though, doubt there is much difference between it and the masterbuilt now.
  11. I'd need to look it up (in work so being naughty already!) but I seem to recall that there isn't a Masterbuilt stock model of this bass, it's custom shop only, so there is the Teambuilt model and the cheaper Rockbass variant?
  12. Nail on the head, there will always be some flaws. A replacement bass may have dodgy frets, wonky bridge, banana neck etc. If he’s got a good player and an unevenness in tint is the only fault, why risk the swap? He’d be better off getting a refund and buying something else, or waiting until he can see the instrument first.
  13. At the price point, you have to expect little things like that to be honest. Chances are the replacement will have something as well.
  14. Hmm. It’s a very heart on his sleeve reaction to the whole thing, which can go two ways really. The flippers are, donutheads, for want of a less censored phrase. But we are talking about a few dozen out of 1,000 sales. I’m not sure he’s playing this right to be honest.
  15. Insane money, honestly didn't even think Zvex was still relevant enough to command that kind of price. And yeah, there some up for sale now for £500 or £700 😂
  16. you’re really not talking to the guy who measured his bridge, I’m literally not in that convo, I was just saying I’m glad it’s not me that thinks about small stuff!
  17. I am?? I’m really not! 😂 It was intended as a funny comment that has since been over-analysed, my apologies, happy Monday!
  18. I know, but we’re quibbling over 0.5mm in the last couple of posts 😉
  19. Skim-read, when I say tonewood I mean at a much more simple level (perhaps not the right term), I wouldn’t dispute a locally sourced wood with similar properties wouldn’t sound the same as tropical, but if anyone tries to say a maple neck sounds like wenge... 😉
  20. Always feel I'm a bass geek by being obsessed with tonewoods and peculiars of different pickups and preamps etc. Always relieved I'm not as bad as I think when I follow convos like this.
  21. I can't actually believe they have a 3 figure price tag on that, it will cost more to repair that than to buy! I mean it really puts into question the quality of the wood used, its split at every drill point!

Fantastic, magic little pedal. Absolute must if you use Darkglass distortions. Bargain too!
  23. Inertia is excellent, the increase in internal voltage was the outcome of a discussion to maximise headroom for active basses with big outputs, worked out wonderfully. It’s a great unit!
  24. I just used them for the first time and it was great! Eurosender’s dashboard is a bit useless (bass was delivered last week, still hasn’t updated) but not necessary as the courier send tracking details etc to you. Insurance is very competitive as well. Booked, collected next day, delivered day after, job done 🙂
