  1. I think that’s probably best mate. It’s a gamble that rarely pays off.
  2. Well, that's annoying 😂
  3. If DHL don't delivery Saturdays, it could well be that it's loaded in a van for Monday?
  4. Bargain!!
  5. It looks like it is an older StarBass II. It definitely isn't a Masterbuilt and it's RRP would have been nothing like 6000 odd Euros, so don't worry, it wasn't that good a deal!! I'm pretty sure I'm right that there didn't used to be a Masterbuilt version, however there now is, and the teambuilt is not a II and does not have bubinga, nor brass frets/nut anymore. It probably was a nice example though, doubt there is much difference between it and the masterbuilt now.
  6. I'd need to look it up (in work so being naughty already!) but I seem to recall that there isn't a Masterbuilt stock model of this bass, it's custom shop only, so there is the Teambuilt model and the cheaper Rockbass variant?
  7. Nail on the head, there will always be some flaws. A replacement bass may have dodgy frets, wonky bridge, banana neck etc. If he’s got a good player and an unevenness in tint is the only fault, why risk the swap? He’d be better off getting a refund and buying something else, or waiting until he can see the instrument first.
  8. At the price point, you have to expect little things like that to be honest. Chances are the replacement will have something as well.
  9. Hmm. It’s a very heart on his sleeve reaction to the whole thing, which can go two ways really. The flippers are, donutheads, for want of a less censored phrase. But we are talking about a few dozen out of 1,000 sales. I’m not sure he’s playing this right to be honest.
  10. Insane money, honestly didn't even think Zvex was still relevant enough to command that kind of price. And yeah, there some up for sale now for £500 or £700 😂
  11. you’re really not talking to the guy who measured his bridge, I’m literally not in that convo, I was just saying I’m glad it’s not me that thinks about small stuff!
  12. I am?? I’m really not! 😂 It was intended as a funny comment that has since been over-analysed, my apologies, happy Monday!
  13. I know, but we’re quibbling over 0.5mm in the last couple of posts 😉
  14. Skim-read, when I say tonewood I mean at a much more simple level (perhaps not the right term), I wouldn’t dispute a locally sourced wood with similar properties wouldn’t sound the same as tropical, but if anyone tries to say a maple neck sounds like wenge... 😉
  15. Always feel I'm a bass geek by being obsessed with tonewoods and peculiars of different pickups and preamps etc. Always relieved I'm not as bad as I think when I follow convos like this.
  16. I can't actually believe they have a 3 figure price tag on that, it will cost more to repair that than to buy! I mean it really puts into question the quality of the wood used, its split at every drill point!

Fantastic, magic little pedal. Absolute must if you use Darkglass distortions. Bargain too!
  18. Inertia is excellent, the increase in internal voltage was the outcome of a discussion to maximise headroom for active basses with big outputs, worked out wonderfully. It’s a great unit!
  19. I just used them for the first time and it was great! Eurosender’s dashboard is a bit useless (bass was delivered last week, still hasn’t updated) but not necessary as the courier send tracking details etc to you. Insurance is very competitive as well. Booked, collected next day, delivered day after, job done 🙂
  20. bump for the weekend! Buy this weekend, delivered to you on Tuesday for free 😁 Make me a cash offer (DM only), worst I can say is no 😉
  21. Nice video man. Two models that perfectly demonstrate the tone differences between BO and NT Thumb models. BO with the brightness in the high mids and a “thinner” tone, NT with the deepness and more rounded highs, with growling mids. Wonderful stuff.

    UPS

Don't confuse volumetric weight with the actual weight. Volumetric weight is based on the dimensions of the box. Given bass boxes are very long, it has a huge impact on the volumetric weight, which is how UPS charge. IE if you send a box of air weighing next to nothing, but the box is 130cm x 50cm x 20cm, you will be charged by its volumetric weight, which is 32.5kg.

So they lied? You gave them a slightly larger than needed length, width and girth, and they said it wasn’t big enough? Sometimes half the issue is people not knowing how the girth is calculated, and if the system is not automated they should really explain it if they don’t.

    UPS

Did you use UPS direct or a courier reseller? I've noticed this when pricing up deliveries with UPS, their volumetric weight far, far exceeds the actual weight for bass parcels and the price jumps a lot if the wrong thing is entered. I recall one of the discount courier people always getting that wrong, can't remember if it was Interparcel or Parcel2go or another one like it. I haven't really noticed another courier work things out in quite the same way. But the UPS website is incredibly manual from what I remember as well, I don't think anything is automated and I think it expects people to read the restrictions. But if you didn't enter anything wrong or choose the wrong product, they have no right taking anything from you for a website error. Certainly not automatically! Complain to the bank/credit card company that you have been charged for something that you have not authorised and request a chargeback.
