1.
where are you based, I have a 93 thumb bolt on neck 4 string fretted that I may part with, mike b
Oo is that a walnut thumb? Sounds like a lovely early BO you have there!
2. Brilliant amp's, these Although, i think you may be confusing power with the peak power rating, i'm fairly sure this is 150w with the exension cab.
3. Well i have been playing on and off for nearly 5 years now but i am really struggling to actually make my own pieces of music, largely because my musical theory knowledge is very, very basic! I am not particularly interested in being able to read music at the moment, but what i do want to do is learn scales, chords, triads etc in much more detail so i can at least begin playing at a level decent enough to attempt to put together my own bass lines. I am a fairly competent player already and consequently am quite happy to improvise when i play and know in my head what sounds right and what doesn't, but i always end up playing very similar things! I imagine improving my knowledge of the aforementioned will help me bit a little more creative. Basically looking for a good book that will help me with this, and that also may contain recommended practice routines etc. I don't, however, want a book that just jumps in at the deep end and makes me feel like giving up! I am definitely considering bass tuition lessons, but at the moment its a cost i cannot afford
4. Yesss mate, glad you got the precision sorted, been after one for a while iirc! Lovely, hows the B?
5.
Nice Bass/ piece of wood. Slightly perturbed by the juxtaposition of the "garden waste" receptacle in some shots, though...
Empty and unused, you might notice a significant lack of grass in my 'garden'!
6. Endless argument, this. At the end of the day, the Ryder bass owners are correct in berating JTUK for talking down about a bass he has never tried. JTUK has a point by saying you are getting what you pay for (regardless what you people think of it, you are getting a cheaply built bass from budget materials), and has been rounded on here because he has insulted several people's new toy. Live and let live?
7. Aesthetics are very important really, you'll never love a bass if you don't like how it looks. I actually LOVE the look of Warwicks so i can't relate to that, but the Musicman Bongo is an example, i love the sound of that bass but it just looks awful. Same goes for buying expensive versions of existing instruments and justifying it. For example i could never i don't think own a 'super' jazz or precision bass, as id look in the mirror and just see a bog standard boring Jazz or Precision copy that would look the same whether it was a £100 china copy or a £3000 USA sadowsky! IMO
8. Madness!
9. Just though id comment, a Warwick 6 fits in these stands if its the same one i have got
10. Refund was the right option i reckon buddy. He may do the best job in the world, but £100 just sounds too low for the kind of repair it would need.
11. This forum keeps me amused! what else are you going to do with £45?
12. Spent the Thumb money already? Bump for Pete, great guy to deal with
13. She's about a manageable 10lb, reassuringly weighty and balances beautifully
14.
I love em. Rock solid, especially the one with the padded legs rather than the pull down rest.
Yup i have that one as well, and if i ever find the money to own a second bass, i shall buy another Sturdiest stand i have ever used, and grabber can comfortably hold a 6 string bass too
15. Good price though, doesn't appear to be a reserve either. With Warwick popularity being what it is at the moment, might be worth watching! rrp £1800, seems to be underselling himself a little there, cheapest i can find a NT thumb for is £2449.
16. I think for me its aesthetics rather than tone (cannot honestly say i have ever compared identical basses bar from their nut, how many people have??), and on that front i prefer brass.
17. I think so
18. Sorry to sound negative, but how has a thread about a bog standard budget P Bass copy managed to get 20 pages long?? Whilst several basschatters have jumped on board and bought one, i would image it is highly likely that a better quality P copy could be bought second hand off ebay or wherever for similar money... Although if supporting the charity is the main reason (i havn't read the entire thread) then i take my negativity back
19. Don't have any issued with the description really, but pics certainly are naughty. Nice example of the type of t**t sellers their are on ebay these days.....
20. Wayne? Sunburst bass? I think iv had too much rum...
21. I can be branded under the category that i (probably psychologically, lets be honest) believe the heavier the bass the better the sound
22. Kev
