1. Making the most out of the sunshine before it disappears for the winter...
2. Its an excellent preamp. I use a B7K and a VMT Deluxe. The B7K is the more aggressive sibling, with a metallic heavy drive sound, whereas the VMT sounds like a cranked valve amp, warm vintage tones by nature but can easily be made aggressive with the EQ. Both superb pedals, which one will suit you depends on what tone you are looking for?
3.
Just when I was thinking this bass would stop making me want a bank loan. Hope this sells quick (for my sanity)
Do me and your bank a favour and go for it I have priced it to-sell but the market the way it is I wouldn't bet too heavily on it selling quickly...
4. It is indeed. 9.7lb on my scales
5. ACG Recurve SC Classic 5 string. It is a complete stunner, incredibly build quality and ridiculously versatile preamp. This bass is somewhat of a crossover between the Custom and Über specifications Alan currently offers, with the 9 piece neck and front/back figured wood top only available on the Über specification models today. Specifications: Spalt Beech top and back with 1mm black sycamore veneer accent. Swamp Ash core. Satin finish. 9 piece Wenge/Ash neck with Asymmetric carve Acrylic Impregnated American Holly finger board. Luminlay side dots Zero radius 34″ scale ACG EQ03 5K pre-amp ACG FB Humbuckers Hipshot Bridge and Gotoh Resolite Tuners Schaller Strap Buttons AC Guitars page here: http://www.acguitars...assic-5-string/ She is freshly strung with a new set of SIT nickel strings and setup with a low action. You can set this up even lower, straight neck and very responsive truss rod. I am looking for £SOLD
6.
4 distortions. LOL.
7. So, I recently picked up a rather stunning ACG in a trade deal on here and I am struggling somewhat to get my head around the preamps, I'm embarrassed to admit. The preamp model is EQ03 5K model, so the one with the two low pass filters with boost/cut, the high pass filter type control with boost cut and the tone knob. I already have a Wal so am familiar with filter preamps and how it all works, however I am struggling to dial in the tones I am looking for with this bass. Any pointers to start me off? Example settings to get various bass styles would be fantastic starting point for me to work from. I believe each of the 9 (yes, 9) knobs on the bass as 41 or so indents, which is a helluva lot of settings available!
8. These ones: http://www.stringsdi...r-strings-p1008 Brand new, unopened/unused etc. Top quality strings fitted to all German built high end Warwicks as standard, but of course suitable for any 5 string bass. £Sold including postage. Cheers
9. Early days, but it seems to be a cracking bass. Neck is wonderful and I love the flat board. The filter pre is fun, easier to dial in more traditional bass sounds than the Wal and love the addition of the tone knob, but overall they are very different basses. I like both
10. What is the back story here? Why the frankenwal and where are the original electronics? Interesting bass!
11. Having recently picked up an ACG Recurve, I can say that they are superb instruments and this will be no exception. The neck is wonderful
12. A few of my newly aquired Recurve SC 123 (ignore the Wal photo bomber....)
13. Just sorted out a trade deal with Andy, smooth as you like and both basses posted almost immediately, even when he was in bed with manflu Cheers bud, hope to deal with you again soon! Kev
14. Banjo frets on all Canadian Dingwalls (not sure about combustion), however the Lee Sklar has mandolin frets, which yes are even smaller. But, small frets all round indeed.
15. Ahhhh! Showing me the serial number hasn't helped my willpower! A birth year and birth month Warwick Thumb, yikes! Do you know how the truss rod was fitted? The standard Warwick fitting at this time meant that a truss rod just slid out when the nut was off, is this the same or is it glued in?
16. Dingwall think the same, the frets are tiny on the Lee Sklar signature. It puts me off, to be honest. Whether true or not, it just makes me think that a refret will be needed sooner rather than later after a few dresses.
17. I was watching it with interest and had an absolute maximum of £1200 limit in mind, based on its condition and the electrics work required. To me, that would have been a bargain, but selling at £1400 is about right I would say. If he lied about the electronics, send it back to him and Paypal would have your back, as a complete electrics replacement would be expensive indeed.
18.
I would rather pay five grand for that than a grand for a fake 1969 Fender P though...
I would rather pay five grand for that than anything with Fender on the headstock! It has been for sale for a long while, I believe. Not surprising , really! A one pickup version sold for ~£1400 this evening on eBay. A custom MK1 sold for £2500 or so recently on here, and that would be worth more than this old pro series, for sure
19. I'm glad someone else feels the same way as me about these newer Warwick instruments Stunning bases and excellent craftmanship. I think a lot of people who think low of Warwick really ought to give these new instruments a go, exceptional quality. Enjoy!
20. 7 piece bubinga wenge neck with wenge fingerboard and bubinga body wings Do you have a picture of the truss rod? Would be useful for many I would think!
