  1. Depends what it is I guess. They had a top of the range Warwick bass in stock at £7,000 since 2017 and its only sold this year, last pirce I saw online was still £7,000...
  2. I think it's fair to post now and hear and update as they resolve it. For me, it doesn't matter if they do resolve it, its certainly put the thought in my head that ordering from PMT may end up with a load of hassle. Dings etc you can argue happen in transit, but a missing plate?? Sounds like a return that just wasn't checked before shipping out. You'd expect that from Amazon, not a guitar store. Then again, i'd never buy a production bass without playing it first, given they can vary so much! So perhaps it hasn't really impacted on me, more just cemented my position on it
  3. It seems I may be in the minority in that I purposely let my two playing fingers have a little nail length on them, and use them to give my fingerstyle a percussive cutting edge, almost an attempt to replicate pick attack, without using a pick. Works for me in heavy music I play.
  4. I still think this instrument range is Joe Dart trolling the artist series bass world. I was convinced the first one, with that big stupid knob, was a joke when it popped up on their YouTube. They're so obviously cheap looking and lacking in features, it's almost too obvious they are the epitome of overpriced signature basses. Are we sure he's not? 😅

Doug (I think, may have been someone else at Neural) actually suggested early doors that the technology could well be adapted to capture time effects in the future, but it's not there yet. Would be mad if it did, but limited application really. I'd rather efforts were focused on creating models as good as the plugins.
  6. Surely when it comes to cyber crime like this, geographic location and a corresponding local force wouldn't be a restriction. The VAST majority of cyber crime will not have victims in the same locality, so there has to be a different system for that, surely? I just don't get how there can be so many reports against what one would assume to be a pretty easy guy for them to find, but nothing appears to be happening.
  7. I've completely lost track or understanding of what is happening here. What have the police done with each of these reports of theft from the same source?
  8. I'll just float an idea out there. If you are looking to buy a bass but want to compare several of the same bass before making the purchase on the basis of QC, consider a different bass manufacturer.
  9. I was a bit confused about how a one-man operation could be so hampered, given that if he does everything himself, he has only part supplies to worry about. But then I read this: PCBs are manufactured in Utah. Enclosures are fabricated and plated in Oregon. PCB assembly and screen printing is done in Washington. I do the final assembly and testing in my Seattle workshop. So, he designs but doesn't actually "hand-build" any of the pedals, he outsources all the circuit and enclosure work and just puts it together? That would explain a lot more why things ground to a halt for so long.
  10. I'm not sure "Absolutely not" quite conveys the message of "sorry no, he's only selling direct now", does it?? No doubt whatsoever there's more to that. I wouldn't be surprised if Bass Direct had backorders 3 Leaf have now reneged on.
  11. Interesting Instagram comment from Bass Direct Re: new stock Here's me thinking I'm the only one who still thinks that way about Spencer 😅

    Neural Quad Cortex

The tech isn't there yet, the capture technology is limited to amps and drive pedals, as far as fuzz depending on the type of circuit. It can capture the "tone" of the signal, but it can't capture modulation, time effects or anything like that. This can be explained this FAR more eloquently, but other than sustain, if the pedal changes the sound from the bass whilst ringing out, the QC can't capture the effect...yet. It is something they are working on. You're not alone with thinking this. There are lots of capture attempts in the cloud that obviously don't do as intended. Tons of people think you can capture compressors, and there are loads of comp captures uploaded, but in reality all the capture is doing is capturing the tonal qualities of the compressor, not the compressors action. I have no idea what would happen if you tried to capture a filter or similar.
  13. I mean to be fair, its a pretty bad advert for a PRS. Ain't no guitar should be breaking like that from that. It wasn't the wildest of moves.
  14. One for the "I don't need a backup" crowd... https://fb.watch/dUykwlb3ZQ/
  15. A 9lb NT Thumb would make this the lightest I've come across, if accurate that's pretty special! I've never had one under 10lb from any era. Someone must grab this soon.
  16. It's equally baffling really Amazing what rarity does to a pedal/builders legacy. The Doom was a cool pedal, but it used to hang around in classifieds a while before they sold. And now, well yeah.
  17. That's just terrific. Special, special bass!
  18. Just checked the price list, are those all made in the UK? If so, that's outstanding in 2022! Makes you wonder how slim those profit margins are, or just how much other builders are raking it in...
  19. What makes you think this? I can't stand hardcases. The only time I'd ever think about wanting something more rigid is if I was travelling overseas, and I'd want a proper flightase for that. I would say 8/10 high end bass manufacturers/luthiers ship basses in high quality soft or hard-soft cases these days, and for good reason. They offer more shock protection and support, they're lighter in weight and they often have much more space for accessories.
  20. Mono cases are a good chunk more expensive than a regular ABS case, and far more protective. Good step foward for me, although it is odd they dropped one of the main Mono features of top loading.
  21. Yup, that's absolutely fair enough. It's a shame bigger companies have the audicity to maintain or even increase profits during these times.
  22. Energy costs alone must be crippling small businesses, several stores in my town have shut over it, including a really quite popular butchers.
  23. The bigger companies are worse, for sure! But in the Barefaced example, have they risen prices to make the same profit as pre-covid/cost of living crisis, or are they taking less profit?
