1. To be honest, If it's really THAT collectible and one of your terms of sale is that all potential buyers should provide evidence of 'worthiness' to actually own it, then I'd say he's foolish to list it on the bay. Surely a rare instrument shop / specialist forum would be far more appropriate?
2. Sounds like a separate filter and synth unit, or just a really good synth unit (Chunk systems / deep impact etc). It is pretty irritating though...
3. Due to recent upgrade I'm selling my Blade B15 tone circuit. Controls are as follows - Master volume, blend between neck and bridge pup and master tone control. The nice thing about this is the mid boost circuit that's engaged by pulling the tone knob up. Requires a 9v battery, but the rest of the time the bass operates as a passive bass, so you've got the best of both worlds. Gain/cut for the mid circuit os via an internal trim pot on the tiny circuit board. Very clean, compact circuitry. SOLD
4. Yes, yes it is. Needs a bit more time than I've got at the moment, but great link, thanks for posting.
5. Ah, the old headphone debate. we thrashed this one about a little while ago - the link's here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/161479-new-to-the-recording-lark-what-headphones-would-you-recommend/ Hope this helps, Paul

7. Living in Ramsbottom, but work in Accrington or Manchester, depending on what colour socks I've got on.
8. fiver via paypal for you to NOT do that!
9. More photos available on request, can probably get some audio samples put up somewhere too.
10. This is a Kawai 100P analogue synthesizer. Late 1970s with 32 preset voices. It is monophonic and has a lovely glissando / portamento control for added expression. It’s a good exmple of the first generation of ‘touch sensitive’ keyboards, this technology was later adopted by other manufacturers. This touch sensitivity means that effects can be added (such as pitch bend, vibrato, brilliance etc…) can be added single-handedly whilst playing, which yields some very good sounds. The Kawai 100P will also hold a single note indefinitely, and has a ‘repeat function’ to allow for pulsing basslines to be created with one finger. This particular model has had the main PCB recapped to improve tuning stability. The keyboard still needs some fine-tuning ( there are 4 trim pots on the main board which need adjusting, but it shouldn’t require any more soldering), but unfortunately at the moment I simply don’t have the time to do this. That said, these pots are easily accessible by removing two scres from the main case. The slider cap is missing from the main volume control and the case has a few scuffs on the corners, but other than that it’s in good nick considering its age. Up for sale again as the original deal fell through. £75 for a quick sale? Probably best for the buyer to collect as it's built like a tank, and weighs about the same.

15. Hi, up for grabs is my aged MXR M124 Dual 15 band EQ. It's a 2U unit with +/- 12dB at 25, 40, 63, 100, 160, 250, 400, 630, 1K, 1K6, 2K5, 4K, 6K3, 10K and 16K the box isn't in bad nick considering its age, and there are two large scratches on the underside, but the unit still works perfectly and sounds great - a really warm 'early solid state' sort of sound. Independent volume controls for channel one and channel two and inputs and outputs are on unbalanced 1/4" jack sockets. Looking for £90, plus postage or collect in person. Photos available later tonight.
16. Hmm, any compressor will add noise to a signal, due to the nature of the circuitry (recovery gain stage at the end etc), but if it's been quiet until now then the first thing I'd do is to check batteries wherever you have them (looks like a 'ray in your avatar). A lot of sound engineers I know like to take a signal directly from the bass, then give you a feed from the DI box to run your FX and amp, have you tried this? This should help to identify if the hiss is coming from the pre on your bass or not. Sorry it's a bit basic, but I've no experience of the BBE pedal stuff.
17. Just found my Watford Valves 5751, cryogenically treated with less than 15 hours of use. Really clean valve, and dead useful for taming amps which have a tendency to distort at low levels, such as the Bass Terror etc. SOLD
18.
personally i wouldnt go lower than what the amp says it can handle. you could potentially run 2 x 8 ohm cabs on both sides if im right. Or 1 x 4 ohm in the low pass and 2 x 8ohm in the high pass or the other way round. I would just run 2 x 4 ohm 8x10 cabs in full range stereo, that would kick ass. forgive me if im wrong.
No, you're absolutely bob-on, 2 8x10 cabs would definitely kick ass.
19. On the subject of SE mics then I've used one in preference to an AKG 414 for a male vocal - we both thought it sounded better (suited his voice better) and they can be had fairly cheap second hand - they're also really handy for acoustic instruments like acoustic guitars, mandolins etc. If you're well rehearsed, then you could always hire in better quality mics for a couple of days - a Neumann U87 can be yours for £15 a day from companies like Wigwam etc... Just a thought.
20. Ooooh, Olympic white for anything Fender make (with a Burgundy tort scratchplate), or Tobacco sunburst with a white 'pearloid' plate is lovely too. Black is a bit, well, meh .
21. I'd recommend something with a bit more detail for vocals, but if you're only going to have one mic, then either an SM57 or 58 should be it. Virtually bombproof and can yield very good results if you're careful.
22. So there we are, fuzz 'n filter. Nice
