  1. Punch & Judy - Marillion
  2. Primus. All of it.
  3. Somewhere there's a really beautiful version of this played by Dorian Gray.
  4. Looks like he ran the bit too hot when doing the headstock. Oh, burnished you say? Intentionally? It's like shooting fish in a barrel.
  5. Thing with putting batteries in pedals that are on boards is that they drain current as soon as there is a jack in the input. If you don't unplug the lead from the input jack then it will drain the battery in a matter of hours even though you're not playing through it, whether they're switched on or not. Having to unplug each individual pedal after a gig kind of negates having a board in the first place. I've heard of people using USB power cells with a booster to give 9vDC, but haven't used one myself.
  6. Ebony Eyes - Stevie Wonder
  7. A huge departure from the awesome playing in the video above, but this really impressed me as a budding bassist in the 90s. Steve Vai - Guitar TM Stevens - Bass Devin Townsend - Vocal Terry Bozzio - Drums It's quite the ensemble.
  8. Monster player! I first heard of him when he played on Steve Vai’s ‘sex and religion’ album and he was GREAT on that, but it turns out I’d been listening to him for much longer as a hired gun for loads of other people. A sad loss.
  9. Cupid’s Dead - Extreme
  10. Nice! Is it polyphonic like the original freeze? I used to love sticking chords into mine.
  11. Crustacean to station - David Bowie
  12. Turbot Lover - Judas Priest
  13. Interesting (and very fluid) use of microtones there - do you play much Indian classical music?
  14. You’re kinda new in these parts, aincha? 😄
  15. Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band
  16. Big bottoms - Spinal Täp
  17. Eva Long - Foo Fighters
  18. shave 'em dry - Lucille Bogan
  19. Heart shaped box - Nirvana
  20. So far this year I've finished 3 pedals - two of them started from scratch this year, one just re-boxed from last year. Things is, I didn't have to buy any components for them as I already had them in my shed. I still think I'm IN, but will defer to the judgement of the BC massive.
  21. Not my bass, but I once borrowed a 70s Ric to record with - sounded amazing through an Ampeg rig, but it was without a doubt the most uncomfortable instrument I’ve ever played - and that includes the trombone!
  22. you know, jeds peds do a PCB of the Agent 00Funk and it's brilliant. https://www.jedspeds.co.uk/product-page/funkin-for-ja-morton I've made a couple and often swap between this and my Meatball clone - different flavours of funk for different jobs. If you're handy with a soldering iron it's less than a day's work and significantly cheaper than buying one (if you can find one).
  23. SWR. Sadly they're dead to everyone else too. 😪
  24. I made one a while ago and it was really useful - selectable mid frequency was the best thing - really loud too if you want to use it as a boost!
  25. Clairy on my wayward son - Kansas
