  1. Do it Dunc you'll never get an opportunity like this again!
  2. 1979 Fender Precision - I call it the 'Sid' bass as it has the look of the classic punk bass of that era. The neck is very flat for a Precision and comfortable with a typical P bass nut width. Neck is superb and in great condition with good frets and working trussrod. Pickup is original although the wiring has been replaced - the pots, jack and cap look original too. It has a replacement scratchplate which was on it when I bought it and I put on the Fender metal knobs as the originals had been replaced with generic plastic ones. The thumbrest is also missing. There is a Fender sticker in the neck pocket that matches the serial number. It's a very light bass for the era - around 4.2kgs. When I removed the scratchplate to check the wiring you can see that someone with Billy Sheehan pretentions has routed it to put in a humbucker at the neck and then filled it again. Hence the price for a very nice '79 US Fender. It's not pretty however with the scratchplate in place it can't be seen and this probably accounts for the replacement wires and scratchplate. This doesn't affect the structural integrity of the bass. Plays like a dream with Roto 45-100s and has a range of tones from mellow soul to clanky punk. The faded off white body has marks and dings as it's had a long gigging life but nothing near as bad as a 'roadworn' reissue. With the exceptions as detailed above the hardware, body, neck, pickup and finish are original to this bass. No trades sorry, cash on pickup preferred and U.K. sale only. I can post at buyers expense if necessary however. There's no case but I can provide a gigbag. I didn't think I'd ever part with it but having been reunited with my old bass from 20 years ago via a fellow Basschatter (cheers again Fitz) I'm letting this one go. £890 gets it.
  3. SOLD elsewhere The bass is in excellent cosmetic and functional condition and is an accurate reissue of the Violin bass This one has the pickups mounted closer together and a flat back with the early Hofner logo. The frets are in excellent condition and everything is original. The bass has some small blemishes to the lacquer and dings on the sides and headstock as it's been gigged
  4. Very tempting - what's itvweigh and what's the nut width? Thanks
  5. Has it got the little serial number plate on the back of the headstock? Is the refinish nitro or poly? cheers
  6. Now Sold! There were headed versions I think.
  7. Price drop £820 and trade type bump as I would consider a trade for a similar age and condition Fender US Precision or US Hotrod PJ configured Precision preferably with maple board and a similar weight. No other trades. Thanks!
  8. Here are the pics showing the flaws - I'd prefer pickup but will post in the UK and to emphasise I don't want any trades. Thanks for all the interest! Now Sold
  9. Lots of interest don't worry I'll post pics this evening - signal is poor where I am at present. Thanks for your patience.
  10. Status Series 4000 bass dating from the early 90s I think. The bass has the classic Status active circuit with volume, blend and tone. Nice punchy Jazz sounds. The neck is carbon graphite and the body resin. It's very dense and sustains forever. When I bought it it needed tlc as the circuit needed a good clean and the bass required a set up. The bass is in very good condition and the neck is straight and true virtually unmarked with good frets. There is some minor cosmetic damage to the finish. There is some chipping and blemishes to the black finish on the hardware. The body has two paint touch up areas and the output jack has had a washer under it as there appears to be a tiny area of lacquer cracking around the jack and this protects it. The bass comes with Status gigbag. A very nice example only selling as I'm looking to raise funds to refurbish one of my vintage synths. No trades. Pickup preferred but I will post at cost. Pics to follow.
  11. No sorry I have three Precisions I could swap with but I'm not a fan of 'bitsa' basses. The alternative would be a Status P bass neck to avoid this but I think if I went down this route I'd look for a custom body rather than wreck/tamper with a nice totally original bass such as this!
  12. I know sadly not for me Alain - the nicest Jazz I've played but I can't get into the nut width. But I'm glad I have had the opportunity to spend time with a US Jazz again!
  13. Sorry it's not Olympic white it is however a very lovely sunburst with a fantastic neck and light weight! Just to state again no trades. Thanks.
  14. Now Sold
  15. Thanks for a quick deal!

Great guy to deal with cheers!
  17. Another fantastic trade - deal with confidence cheers!
  18. It's a beauty but I just keep going back to my Precisions.
  19. A lovely Jazz bass that I got in a recent trade. Really superb bass with maple board and satin neck. Classic tort pickguard and sunburst finish. The bass comes in its original case with tags, trussrod tool, keys and owners manual. The bass weighs around 3.8kgs and plays and sounds as a US Jazz ought to. I'm selling because I just don't get in with the narrow nut width no matter how I try. I'm not interested in trades sorry and I'd prefer collection if possible on this. It's got one tiny ding on the back of the body. Otherwise excellent condition.
