  1. Chap here looking for one http://basschat.co.uk/topic/309807-1970s-gibson-grabberg3ripper/ Pics would really help your sale as I can't see them. I've used a Grabber for years great sounding basses
  2. On hold until Monday
  3. Cheers Karl will message
  4. Yes I think Status had words with them about the design and they changed it slightly
  5. Gordy Headless bass - built by one half of the original Gordon Smith partnership Gordon Whitham in Manchester. It's a handmade through neck instrument of exceptional build quality and extremely rare. Fingerboard is ebony and it has a flamed Top with a transparent midnight blue finish. The bass plays superbly with an incredibly low action. The two soap bar pickups are active with switching options and active treble and bass controls. Some scratches and dings but nothing structural. The bass weighs under 8lbs and is incredibly light and well balanced. Comes with basic gig bag. UK only no trades sorry.
  6. Bought second hand on a whim as a present for my girlfriend's daughter but never really used by her. I got it around 8 years ago but it's just been sitting unplayed in her old bedroom. It's short-scale very pink and easy to play (great for metal). The original pickups were Duncan designed but this had a replacement on when I got it. Sounds like a very punchy Precision. It has coated strings on that have not been changed but sound fine. Comes with original pink gig bag. I have played it live and it got a lot of attention and laughs but the neck dive is horrendous so it's probably best employed as a backup. Very good condition - one ding on the side, swapped strap button and replacement pickup. No trades, UK only I reckon £15 to post. Now withdrawn and eBay bound
  7. Thanks Jack - whoever gets it won't be disappointed. I have done a lot of research on the subject and owned several Hofner Violin basses. Very early 60's through to late 80's and three reissues - all have had unique characters very different from the feel of Contemporary Series or Ignition basses. This one has the nicest action and neck of any 60's Hofner bass I've owned. It is a reluctant sale but I need to shift it hence the low price.
  8. Thanks Rabbie - I've owned two 64's with different features, different logo types and pickup frames one with a Selmer era serial stamp and one without. I also owned a '70s one with a small silver sticker with the serial number on. Hofner themselves weren't really bothered about serial numbers in the early days although there are body number stamps on some sixties basses apparently but you have to use a dental mirror to see them as they are hard to reach!
  9. To clarify some queries - the bass was purchased as a '67 violin however it's difficult to confirm exact dates. The Selmer era had a pretty arbitrary and non-sequential serial number system. Identifiable by 4 digits stamped on the headstock. Hofner experts tend to date these basses on the sum of their parts and features. There are many anomalies as Steve Russell's excellent Hofner book will confirm. The serial could make it as early as '66 and as late as '71 however the machinehead type, preh pots, logo engraved blade pickups and panel details would suggest it as a '67. Other features suggest a later date. The logo has a small gold script and thus may be a transitional logo. The fretboard has binding and dots. The nut has the earlier black and white material and the truss rod cover is the bell type. The case and Selmer strap would also suggest late '60s. So to ensure no one is disappointed I would say this is a Selmer imported bass from between '67 and '71. It remains a classic bass in superb condition and a bargain price. Cheers
  10. Cheers Rabbie - I need the space so it's got to go I have seen them go for a lot more but needs must as I'm downsizing!
  11. Here is my 1967 Hofner Violin in excellent condition. It plays and sounds great and is strung with LaBella flats. It comes with original case and the original Selmer strap. The case smells a bit musty owing to the age but it works well. The bass is a superb example, very easy to play and in great cosmetic condition. The bass has the later larger control panel and blade pickups. One pickup is a modern Hofner replacement however the original is included. It will need a rewind/attention as it's low output hence the replacement. A reluctant sale but I am downsizing. A nice vintage Hofner at a realistic price. No trades please. Pickup preferred. UK only.
  12. I've been in touch with him being a Shergold aficionado he seems a decent chap to deal with I need to sell some things on however
  13. A lovely amp that I'd certainly snap up .... if you were nearer to me
  14. I would get a Minitaur at around £395 and a set of midi bass pedals for about £300 save money, save weight and space! I had a set of Taurus pedals and they sounded great but had very limited use for the outlay.
