1. I meant TRADES! Darn predictive text
2. Lovely what's the weight and any trains.
3. It's easy just edit your original post and then add the pics via attachment. Alternatively pm me your email and Ill send mine on to you so you can send them direct.
4. Pics would be good and where are you based?
5. Perhaps it's because it's been moved on a couple of times fairly quickly? It looks fantastic and is an excellent price, I was tempted when I saw it before....had it been a Precision! The market is odd at the moment as Rick's Fine has rightly pointed out and there are a lot of instruments at stupidly low prices going nowhere at the moment. I'm sure you'll get a sale soon as this series is so limited. Have a bump on me
6. Open to offers?
7. I'd be interested in the cab
8. Are these still available?
9.
The intonation adjustment screw for the E saddle looks to be pointing off to the side whereas the A string screw seems to run parallel to the string, so it could just be that the saddles need a bit of shifting around. Is that the right bridge for a Marathon? My old Hayman 40/40 had a rather different design, not a BBOT clone.
Yes it's the correct bridge. These are good basses and often just need a little TLC as they tend to get overlooked by non-Shergold fans and sadly neglected. Super slim necks, very stable and a bit Wal-like shape wise. The 6string basses go for stupid prices because of the Hooky connection. John Wetton of King Crimson used a fretless version similar to this one. I would have gone for this but the seller wouldn't post it.
10. Excellent, the joodee interested me but he didn't reply when I messages. I may take it off your hands if its not mega dear and you get fed up of it
11. Would you courier them? Just a thought.
12. Hi Nick I'm interested in the LA combo, would it work for double bass?
13. Hi they are 158cms in length 14.5cms bottom winding 37cms top. Cheers
14. Dropping the price as they are sitting looking at me unappreciated in their pristine box. £30 posted please buy them before I use them for a washing line.
15.
Was talking to the owner of my local shop today and someone apparently tried to return a bass a few weekaghast. The reason for returning it was because he thought it was just a guitar for beginners.......
That reminds me of Rick Wakeman's story about buying his first Minimoog. He got it secondhand and cheap off Jack Wild (the actor and original Artful Dodger) who sold it as not working. Apparently when Wakeman unpacked it and plugged it in it worked perfectly. Being an honest chap he rang Wild and told him that the synth was fine Wild replied 'well its no use to me it can only play one note at a time'.
16. A recent brush with eBay detailed elsewhere made me extremely cautious as a buyer. I got ripped off by a seller who I later found was one of eBay's 'top reviewers' and had previous 'bad form' yet was functioning with 100% positive feedback. eBay has never cared as long as the money keeps rolling in, they only listen to those who threaten them with legal prosecution. I hope the person who got this counterfeit is from this site and gets the last laugh.
17. Bought a nice Musicman Stingray off Mark, great guy to deal with. Many thanks! Ash
18.
This is from the very era of US Fender people are referring to when they say "The Japanese Squires were better built than the US Fenders of the time" It is from the absolute pinnacle of Fender cost cutting, hence the one piece plastic scratchplate/control plate and other missing corners. Like all eras of Fender there are some good and some bad in terms of playing, but these ones were really built on the cheap by a largely disgruntled workforce. A bit like the British Leyland cars of the same era.
...and those people were right!
19. Oh dear someone got burned it went for £670! For once I hope it's a non payer!
20. I had one of these and sold it when I bought my JV Squier......when you took off the single piece plate there was a lot of routing space under the hood, a bit like the cheapo recent Squiers. The bass played fine however. If it had a maple board I would consider it but I reckon the reserve will be pretty high.
21. Report it using the name Mr Hall and see what happens then
22. Steel or nylon/gut strings? You could go for a magnetic pickup - like a Schaller, or a transducer type like a Fishman. I made a magnetic one for my double bass out of an old Squier P bass pickup. There's a guy on eBay selling pickups that clip into your bridge for £18! So you can experiment without having to dig into your pockets too deeply.
23. Yes they are extremely light and portable, I'd see if you can get it for less if I were you, let me know if you do get it I'd like to know your thoughts. I would've liked to try mine with those black nylon coated strings but I never had the opportunity.
24. Hi John, I had one for a while, they are quite nice but the short scale is less forgiving than the longer EUBs - the Fishman was a pain because of the feedback so I had to use a graphic eq as a preamp. The bass itself gives a fairly authentic upright tone when eqd properly and it's nice and light. Mine was an early one and didn't have a truss rod so the neck started to bow but I don't know about this one (I think I know the one you are looking at). I got mine very cheaply as it needed work. It certainly got me into playing the DB but I sold mine on. Hope that helps.
25.
[IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v313/russjm/2011-10-23083155_zpsa5b36018.jpg[/ Once I'm back on my feet, I'm sure I'll be buying more crap once again, but really......do you really need anything more than a Precision and an amp???
Yes two Precisions and an amp ! Nice bass by the way Russ.
