  1. Appreciate all the input folks. I know that bart now do a direct up grade with options Single, humbucker, etc but as Woodinblack says £300 -400 .This is not my greatest concern as I love the bass and it was a present for a special birthday,so it will never be going anywhere. Plus I do have other bass's. The thing is will the new barts @ £300-400 plus give me what I am looking for. As I have great confidence in the East pre and they have advantage of a variable mid sweep. I think that the pre amp may always be something I might change in the future. But under advisement from your good selves I think I will have a play around with some pickups before committing.I have a friend previously mentioned who I know has some pups that will not fit correctly in the pup recess (jazz blades) but could give me an Idea of possibilities with or without changing the preamp and tone variations of the pups. If anybody is interested I can get back to let you know how I got on. Thanks for your help Cheers guys
  2. Forgot to say my bass has the BH1 not the newer Bh2 which are a bit more standard size. Cheers
  3. Thanks for that Al Krow. I know that Bart now do a H65 direct replacement for the odd shaped pups on my bass. Unfortunately the Nords are not a direct replacement so would need to check string spacing as the fan fret have angled pups .I know this is a stretch but any of the Ibby fanboys have put Bart singularity pups in there beloved SR's I would love to here there view. I have looked at the Nords and was thinking of having a word with a luthier mate of mine (Dougie Wilkes) to make some custom pup covers to compliment the overall aesthetics and give me more options on pup choice.
  4. Hi folks Anybody have any knowledge about the pre amps in and Ibanez srf805 fanfret .My experience is that the bass plays like a dream but feels like its been held back by the pre amp. I know the Bart pups are made under license and not that bright with quite a low output but the eq feels very polite unless pushed to the extreme which then just gets nasty.I have considered replacing the pre amp with a East uni. I have had several east configuration's in various basses and always been impressed, which I know sort of answers my own following question. Replace Pups or pre amp. Both is probably the goal but I would appreciate any input. Thanks
  5. Sorry guys hoped to get some photo's up tonight but tied up at the moment so I will pull the post down for the time being so as not to waste anybody's time. As soon as I can I will try to get some decent pics. Thanks for looking
  6. Hi Rich I probably need to get shots up as you suggest,I will try to do this tomorrow. Just been tied up with work etc, but the rig is mint so hope the phone images do it justice. Thanks Wayne
  7. How many of us are playing the same gear today that we were told was the best set up they ever had by the bands we played with in the past. I obviously must know better because I am the one playing the rig... yes?. or I am I just so deep into the GAS addiction I am beyond help?. I have another pursuit where I have made a conscious effort to just enjoying the time indulged within it, and trust me this could soak more money than music equipment GAS could ever do, but I have found I can ignore the GAS syndrome and enjoy this indulgence for what it is .One thing that helped me with GAS control is having gear bought me by the wife and son on special occasions with the quote "and you know you will never be able to sell, trade, this because its special now" this of course doesn't apply gifts received from other sources even though it should.I think I am now fortunately getting a grip on GAS and learning to appreciate what I have a lot more. There said it I am reformed, no more GAS I bet your all so jealous ...........but if any body has for sale.....oh crap.

  15. Muddy may be a little over stating it .One persons muddy is another persons dark. But I would just like a bit more clarity and bite.To much brightness within the sound would be easy to adjust down but trying to get it from something that is not there to start with becomes more difficult.I suppose its all down to how we feel when we play, a lot of what we all search for from the gear we buy gets lost in the mix when we play live, but if we are happy with what we have got we just play better. Cheers
  16. Cheers This is the page for anybody interested. Thanks Dov65 http://contact.bartolini.net/support/solutions/articles/5000587194-ibanez-basses-pickups-and-electronics https://bartolini.net/?s=ibanez
  17. Hi I love the bass, the neck is probably much like yours and very comfortable. The pups imho are quite muddy and have a relatively low output compared to my less expensive Sire 5 string v3 2nd gen.I know it sounds like I am berating my own bass but it is a lovely instrument. As the Bh1 pups on my bass as far as I know can only be replace like for like size wise with the new range of H6 Barts this is why I posed the question. Other pups would fit into the routed cavity but after a lot of research no other manufacturer makes a direct replacement as far as I can see.The option I considered was to replace the pup with a chosen brand and get a pair of wooden custom pup covers made to fill the existing cavity. Alternatively get the pup cavity re routed to fit a chosen pup set. Choice of pickups with custom covers will probably be my chosen path along with an East pre amp. I know there are cheaper options as suggested above(change the bass) but as the saying goes. This is my bass ,there are many like it, but this one is special, because this one is mine. Sorry for Paraphrasing. Just a note, my bass with BH1 pups is the first version the newer SRF version had BH2 different pups and different size, which I think can be replaced with EMG's Nord's etc although. As far as I am aware all the Barts in the Ibanez basses are made under license and are not oem. Hope this helps
  18. Not Wising to hijack the thread, but has anyone changed the pups in a Ibanez 805 fanfret with BH1 pups to the Bart H6 series. If so what are your thoughts. Cheers
  19. You Only Live Twice. Went to see this with my Dad when at the time it was an (A )certificate film . I was to young to see it, being tall had its advantages though in them days. Made it all the more special knowing I shouldn't have been in the cinema for another year'.I would give anything to be able to sit and watch this with my Dad again. Even Robbie flogging the opening few bars hasn't spoiled the great memories of a Dad and his son sharing one of those moments that stay with you.
