Sorry to post in the negative as I'm sure Malcolm is a nice guy, but I tried to buy from them earlier this year and they couldn't get any of the three Jazz Basses I was after, this despite all three of the basses being advertised on their website. IMO Ishibashi are the better bet, it will cost much the same as GE at the end of the day, but Ishibashi provide a far greater range and much better service. Obviously the downside with Ishibashi is that you can't play before you buy. Chris
Are Ishibashi allowed to sell new stock to UK customers again now, Chris?
Currently using ER20s and loving them, but I am planning on getting some moulded plugs made up for a Christmas present to myself. One question though as the filters only come as ER15 or ER25 - which ones do I go for? I really like the 20 dB reduction of my current plugs and I don't want my tinnitus getting any worse if 15 dB is too little, but will 25 dB be too much? The bands I'm in at the moment are remarkably well behaved, but I'd like to get back into playing metal again sometime in the future and I know that I'll be thankful for the 25 dB reduction. Does anyone have any trouble playing with a well behaved band using ER25s?
You can change the filters so you coudl start with 25s and go to 15s if they don't work. Not cheap though.

One from the "acoustic" band I dep for on upright Missing fiddle player for half of it means you can actually see my double chins I think she'd nipped out for a P And the promo one for my band. Actually caught me playing a Jazz and playing melodies up the dusty end... The couple in the white shirt and green top always give me a giggle watching this, gawd knows what Craig Revel-Whorewood would make of that footwork ...
Biggest surprise on a budget bass!!!!!!!!! I have all sorts of things to play around with and every now and then, take three or four different basses to match one against the other, through the same lead/amp/speaker combination. The prize for my biggest surprise for a long time, goes to . . . . . . . . . This!! Pic lifted from the net - mine is at a friends. I bought this, quite literally, for the case it came in, so I guess it cost me about £35.00! Anybody else got one? A real eye opener. Whisper quiet responsive active electrics, light, great neck, very easy to play. I realise most will consider these to be a leaners tool/toy/un-cool/Far East fodder but matched against things the were up to 25 times more expensive, I was VERY shocked! Have a laugh, get your hands on one for pennies! Cheers. Flat Eric.
Errr some of us have very old eyes nd can't read tiny headstock lables on small pictures so ... Is it a Magimix?

I'm partial to "Need your love so bad", especially if you play parts of the strings lines from the Fleetwood Mac version on bass.
Well, I had a long hard think last night and came to the conclusion that staying would be the wrong thing to do and so about 5 minutes ago, I just sent me email and resigned. So, time to move onto the next thing whatever that may be. I do really appreacited everyones help. You have all been really cool and supportive and made the move much easier.
Good luck with the next project. Resourceful people like yourself should be in bands that appreciate and support what you are doing.
Looks a bit suspect to me.... look at the markings around the neck-plate....??
Well I did wonder about the wording of this bit "THE NECKPLATE IS WHICH I THINK IS ALSO 1970." -
Sorry, wasn't replying to what you said directly. I think its a good idea. The other band i play with has one guy (guitarist) doing most of the admin, calling up, dealing with clients/venues etc and he does get a bit of money from the others. It all works well as he doesnt begrudge having to do it all because he gets some money and the others are happy to pay a small fee so they dont have to.
I guess you and I are in well paid function bands though. Linus is in a fame and glory seeking but probably not paid at all orginals band .....

Kinda sad really. It's never been out to gig and probably never will ... Bit like having a pristine Ferrarri Daytona with no miles on the clock ..., It's Art..... -
you seem to be the best man to do all those things the others wont do, so why not do them and charge the band a nominal fee. Just an idea.
I was joking above about charging for your services. I say this because I have played in a band where I've done a load of stuff with no extra payment but others have done a load of stuff but wanted compensation for it - a tenner for carting and storing "band" gear, milage for doing some band running about an extra tenner for doubling on instruments, etc.. It just leaves a nasty taste. the jobs shoud be shared out more or less evenly between the willing, but bets co-ordinated by one person (say you for example) and then the rest press ganged into helping and doing their share.
I've got an Eyeland Straposaurus -- they're pricey but very nicely made. Bet you can't spot the musical genre Cheers Mark
Well Eddy Grundy has a hat with horns like that so are you in an Archers Tribute band? Fallon and the Lost Dads maybe? Alt. Borchester Country?
I don't find them bouncy. They do have some stretch in the doubled elastic webbing stitched to the neoprene pad but I can't get any bounce, just the correct amount of 'shock absorption'. I did own an Overwater strap for a short while and it wasn't for me. That had a piece of elastic webbing on the front between the pad and the bass and the bass neck nodded up and down nicely. Very odd. Some folks swear by them, I just swore AT mine.
I had a problem with my shoulder/arm back etc so I've tried bouncy straps before including an Overwater. No good for me as I like to let go of the neck and then find it where I left it 3 nanoseconds later without looking. Any effort spent controlling the bounce or nodding headstock is wasted for me. I use off the peg 4inch wide leather ones from my high street music shop. They are very comfortable and spread the weight, avoiding the aching upper arm problem I had before. They don't have light up LED eyes though I may have to mention one of those in this year's letter to Santa...

Seems to be reaching the "P or get off the pot" time ..... Or maybe that should be "unrealised potential"
