1.
Windsor Castle, Carshalton.
Thanks. I'll make a point of never venturing over there.
2.
Not just Sweden, I've seen this in local jams right here. I remember when I first started playing bass around 2000 and thought the best way to get myself out there was turning up to jams where I'd previously played guitar. My first bass was a cheap, but pretty good quality Yamaha RBX and I overheard disparaging comments from the resident P playing bassist about 'modern' basses. I didn't get to play that night.
Please do tell which Jam this was.
3. Never come across 2.3mm. 2.5mm is the next size up which are readily available.
4.
i Can't pm to you....
I changed my email address and for some reason this site will not send emails to any of my domains so I have been unable to revalidate my membership. The rest of the world has no problem with them however. Can now receive pms again.
5. At our last gig where I was using my usual trusty Stingray 5, I mentioned that I had recently acquired a '73 Precision. Singer says "Oh a proper bass".
6. To go from iPad Stereo to LB Mono then you need to mix the left and right signals down to mono using 22K resistors.
7. Bump for revised pricing and trade options.
8. Electro Harmonix English Muff'n Mesa Boogie V1 Bottle Rocket
9. Be aware that some Japanese made 70's reissue Jazzes do not have 70's pick-up spacing.
10. Time for another bump.
11.
I sent Rob at Status a message and he said you can get a satin finish to the back of their necks, it's an additional £40. Looking at a few pics on Google it looks like the Status necks have jumbo frets rather then the smaller ones on the original MM necks is that true obbm?
I can't be certain however they look and feel the same as the frets on both my '73 Precision and '80 pre-EB Ray. They are certainly not vintage as my MIJ Jazz was refretted with them. Also they are lower profile than on a couple of other basses I've owned which had jumbo frets.
12.
Any SR5 under 9.5 pounds is exceptionally light and a keeper !
I have no intention of letting mine go anywhere.
13.
I seem to remember OBBM saying in a previous thread that it's a little heavier then a standard neck.
I'm not so sure now because it weighs 9lb 4oz which is lighter than my Sterling, plus it has two batteries, one for the pre-amp and one for the side LEDs. Anyone got the weight of a stock single pick-up SR5 as a comparison?
14. If you want it all 3 speakers getting the same amount of power then the single speaker will have to be another 16-ohm driver. This will give you 3 x16-ohm speakers in parallel and a combined impedance of 5.3-ohms.
15. Agree with all the positive comments above. I've had a Status neck on a Stingray 5 for almost 8 years. Rob Green at Status fitted it for me. It is still my favourite bass and the most often gigged.
16. Well done that man.
17. Turn my back for a few minutes and suddenly it's all over. Matt P wins.
18. OK I'll continue this with the offer of a used once1m Speakon to Speakon for whoever posts #99. Merry Xmas everyone.
19.
No, you're not allowed to get your own cable back.
20. Ooooh. Can I join in?
21. It's all down to headroom. A circuit designed to run on 18-volts has more headroom than one designed to run on 9. You can't just add another battery as the biasing of the components will be all wrong.
22. pick up only? - from where?
23. Don't use speaker cable. You need either screened pair mic cable or single core screened instrument cable.
24. 1st December bump.
25. Large bodied Framus Star. They made two versions, large body with twin pickups and small body with a single pickup.. I know because I had a small bodied 30-inch scale version.
