All the keyboard players I've worked with have used PA amps or powered mixers. How many keyboards does he need to amplify?
He's got two. He's currently using a powered mixer. Perhaps just a change of speakers would do although saying that the the mixer is quite a large heavy beast.

Our new Keyboard man has been using a small PA complete with a pair of 15-inch cabs for the past 10 years and has decided that he needs to downsize to a much smaller and lighter rig. He's not sure where to start looking so I offered to ask here to see what others are using in the way of small but loudish full bandwidth Keyboard amps. Our band's PA is only for vocals so putting him through it for our pub gigs is not an option. I asked him last night if he really needed stereo seeing as stacking his two 15-inch cabs on top of each other hardly creates a stereo image - the jury is out on that one. So in a nutshell what does your Keysman use?

Hercules Stands ( Strings and Things) Customer Service
Fair enough that sorts out the problem a slightly asymmetric body like a Jazz, but it doesn't IMO solve the problem with the back support being lower than the centre of gravity on a bass (and it's only just about in the right place on a guitar) which means that the putting a bass on it causes it to tilt back at an alarming angle. I'm quite happy to use something like that at home, but on stage unless the performers are very sedate (i.e. sitting down) I would never risk it. Stands used for instruments on stage need to hold them secure with no danger of being knocked over. IMO that means supports at the base and half-way up the neck and fairly weighty to lower the overall centre of gravity. Ideally one of those multi-instrument racks, or a good quality adjustable stand like this one from Quiklok.
Totally agree. -
Good idea Dave, but a simpler solution would be to just buy a Precision in the first place.
Hmmm. The words tail and dog are coming to mind. -
Expecting a nice little product on the market in the next few months that will clean up... IMO.
Simple mod. All you need is a 60mm long 6mm bolt and some nuts and washers. Unbolt the errant arm, use new bolt and nuts to raise it to desired height. Job done. Could be simplified by just using the longer bolt and a spacer instead of the two sets of locking nuts. -
Recently completed a totally flawless transaction with Dave. Deal struck and item sent extremely quickly. Just how it should be on BC. Thanks Dave.

Andy purchased my half-rack wide flightcase and Boss tuner. Excellent communication throughout. All in all a very straightforward transaction. Deal with total confidence.

Having recently acquired a similar amp/cab rig I have to agree that it sounds excellent, especially with a '71 Fender Jazz.

Put a guard around the switch.

Help me spend some 'credit' on a cab / stack around £500

Schroeder cabs are loud, light and sit really well in the mix. -
Due to change in direction I no longer need my mini-rig flightcase and parts. Here it is fitted with a GK MBFusion (already sold), a Boss RGE-10 Graphic EQ and a Boss TU-50 Tuner. The flightcase is 4U high and just over half a rack wide. It was made by Flightcase Warehouse to my design and contains 3 small rack trays onto which equipment can be fitted. The bottom space will accept a 1U amp such as a GK MB500/800/Fusion or it could be adapted to take other makes of small amps. The amp is retained by screws through the base into the feet screw threads. Across the back is a power distribution strip. Rack Case and Boss TU-50 Tuner - £105 Boss RGE-10 10-band Graphic Equaliser - £75 Boss RCL-10 Compressor Limiter - £75 dbx 163A Compressor/Limiter - £75 Collection or postage at cost.

Schroeder 1212L Speaker Cab. Light and Loud. This is the version with angled sub-woofer. 4-ohm impedance 2 x 12-inch drivers plus horn. Used but in very good condition and complete with waterproof covers. I have 2 of these for sale @ £400 each. Possible trade one for Barefaced Midget. Buyer collects or meet-up.

Orange AD200B Bass Head complete with Silverstone cover. This amp has had very little use, is in excellent condition and works like a dream. Due to weight this has to be buyer collects or meet up. Thought it would be useful to add a bit of history. I acquired this amp in 2008 from a nice chap in Kettering who ran a big band. He bought it new from Orange for use by their visiting bass players. As far as I am aware they played the occasional charity gigs so very little use. I bought it to partner a Bergantino NV610 but only did 2 gigs plus the 2008 SE Bass Bash with this set-up before the band dissolved, the Berg was sold and I ended up out-of action for a couple of years. Only recently have I used it again for 3 gigs with my new Berg CN212 where it performed faultlessly however it really is too heavy for me to lug about any more and it is such a waste to see it sitting at home unused. I have been asked if has been serviced recently? The answer is no because it has done so few hours from new. Sorry but I'm not interested in trades and the price is the price.
