The fan seems far far louder than normal.[/quote] Assuming your not just noticing the fan more because you have become very aware about the amp, it leaves a couple of possibilities : it is running faster because a smart bit of you amp is telling it to because something is getting hotter than before (I don't know what smart safety features your amp has) or a fault has occurred which has caused more power than normal to be routed to the fan. Both those scenarios require a qualified tech to have a butchers. Have a peek inside (as icastle suggested) to check all looks ok (as well as solder joints, look out for signs of overheating around components) and if necessary give it a hoover out to clear any dust and crap out that's been sucked in which could in theory cause shorts.

Try it in a different part of the house to try and eliminate local interference first. Haha I just noticed you're a mod now Shep. It seems like only yesterday you were a fresh faced young man buying up all the cheap pedals etc. Now look at you.

I'm also constructing a wee project using an SB-1 pup (well the split P from an SB-2) and a MFD humbucker you might want to check out in the build diaries section. I've moved the SB-1 pup up closer to the bridge and I'm installing a series/parallel switch on it.

Do they have a cooling off period?
