Try a washer under the adjuster nut to give you a few more turns.

Yeah. He's dropped it 250 quid since we last discussed it.
OK I'll give it a go Musicman Sterling and Stingray are the top ones like a P and a Jazz Then the SUB was the budget version but more like a MIJ Fender most of them were Stingray specs but there were a few with Sterling specs/ Sterling by MM are the replacement for the SUB. There was also the OLP which was the low end versions made by a different company but licensed by MM like Squier. There are also other models by MM like the Big Al, Bongo and such like but they are only available as full fat, no budget version.
Yep also off the top of my head.... All Stingrays and Sterlings are active. SUB's can be active or passive Stingray pups are wired in parallel while Sterlings and SUBs are series Stingrays and Sterlings can come with optional piezo. Stingray and SUB = 21 frets + alnico pups Sterling = 22 frets + ceramic pups
I've found that most basses with flats sound pretty much the same...
No bass I know of sounds like my G&L L-1000 with flats.

Haha me too. I had to push back the silks but I "gelled" them back down with a wee spot of Vaseline to make them all tidy again.
it will affect the sound quite dramatically. i wouldn't recommend 'scraping' the silk back.....
Nah, it wouldn't be wrong to push them back a few mil (in fact it would almost certainly balance them out with the others) - besides, he's using nylon flats.
BTW I didn't vote in the poll because you didn't offer a selection for both...
Me too. I think we'd see less of a landslide if that option had been offered from the start.
I prefer flats but as stated above, the rounds are cheaper.......
You should look into Status Hotwire flats. I've tried most of the usual top end brands you hear talked about on here but find these to be better all round (no pun intended ) - a relaxed tension with a more open tone... oh and they're half the price.
-
I like both - but with different situations/basses. Flats for a whumpy P tone and rounds for... well... just about everything else. I guess most folk prefer rounds that's why they do it. Also maybe the manufacturer thinks that the supplied strings represents the sound they want their product to be associated with.

Nice.

Doesn't look Surf Green to me... but in my experience it is a really hard colour for digi cameras to capture properly.
Im reading about them as we speak, looks the biz, apparently depending on the knobs(dont say a word)they can be had for around £180.it,ll probably end up an obsession with me tossing scary money at it as this bass hobby is becoming addictive to say the least,ie-spent roughly £200 on effects pedals(mostly for guitars ffs)and ended up putting them on ebay cos i found one pedal that done the lot.coincidently it was a well known BCer that won them, exellent guy to deal with i,ll add.most pastimes i end up giving up on if not an overnight success,at the ripe old age of 46 this one is only getting worse....
It's not like you'll be able to sell it ever. Pimp it right out.... I bet the Mrs will give it a green light coz it's "her" bass and it means more to you than all the others blah blah blah. -

Dinnae listen to these guys Dougie, they have no ambition. You said you had a budget of £150 not £50. Besides a JE P-Retro will make a light bulb sound nice. -
I'm not big on Warwicks but (from those pics) it looks ok to me - including the neck. The guy's feedback although 100% is on the low side (8). Looking into his history though would suggest he might be a bass player. My overall gut feeling of the ad is good. PayPal should protect you should anything dodgy happen. Good luck if you go for it.

John East P-Retro. You may need to up the budget a bit though. -
aaaargh. can't do it. ran out of space. sod it. sorry, can't be arsed. it's on evil bay if you want to see it.
Open up a photobucket account (if you don't already have one) they auto size the pics and also lets you post pics instead of attachments.

All 5lb basses stink.

So I bought this pup a couple of nights ago off ebay from a guy in the States. I paid a reasonable price for it - maybe even a bit over the odds for US prices. I immediately sent him an invoice request so he can work out the postage to the UK but I heard nothing back from him at all. He's quite an experienced seller with a fairly good feedback rating but 2 negs in the last 12 months. I checked the negs and rather worryingly he responded to what seems like a reasonable complaint thusly ... "when am I gonna learn that most International bidders are a hassle". I contacted him again today asking if I could assist in speeding up the process at all but still nothing as yet. He has a very easily traceable internet presence with mentions on myspace, tuition ads and a shop. What are your predictions for the outcome then folks?

1979-'84 Sabres had the serial on the bridge (6 digits prefixed with a "C") - most were standard top loading Sabre bridges but some "excess stock" Stingray bridges ("B" prefix) were used for through-body. If it has a patent number under the words "MusicMan" on the headstock it is pre '84. HTH

You got me looking at old pics of my SUB. I found this one of us rocking out in a club called Rockers (Glasgow). Conclusive evidence I feel.
