Pingray again! Yamaha bb300 Modification
Ou7shined replied to prengel_basser's topic in Gear Gallery
where can I attach it rexactly?
When you make a reply there is a header on the left-hand side (under the smilies) that says "Attachment Editor". Use it to browse to your file on you computer. Don't make the file too big or it won't be allowed. -
thank you all for these nice comments! yeah, I´m very happy how the bass turned out I could make a soundfile of course (@Ou7shined: would you make one, too?)... I have no idea where to upload it. any ideas about a site where I can upload it for a direct stream?
We can just add an mp3 as an attachment in this thread - I've been meaning to do a sound file for ages. -
Hi all, This is a question which isn't directly related to this thread, but it is about copper shielding tape. Does anyone know a good UK based source for the stuff? I've done a quick bit of googling, but being a total novice in this area, I can't see the wood for the trees - most the suppliers I've found are US based - I've just installed an East preamp into my Tanglewood Baron and realised I really need to shield my electronics cavity. Also, does anyone know where you can source a barrel jack socket which is wired for active circuits? (i.e. has 4 connections; pos, neg, ground and connection to the battery to engage the circuit when the jack is plugged in). Any suggestions warmly received Sorry if this has wandered way off topic!
Ebay.
Great work mate! Really classy and versatile bass. I agree with the comments about the scratch plate, sits really nicely on your bass. Well who's is the best Pingray? Only one way to find out.... FIGHT! I'll get my coat... Eude
Of course Stefan being situated in Germany won't have a clue what it's about..... hmm that means I'll get the jump on him. -
Well, you could certainly buy that one...
That's fantastic work you've done there Stefan. I am so happy that my Pingray was the inspiration for yours. I'm not a big fan of the SR5 pickguard but yours really suits the project very well... better than on a SR5. You should paint the headstock black to match the body. It would finish the bass off perfectly. -
Haha put yours on for £895. It'll go first.
aaaaaaaarggghhh ITS A REAL RIC. Well so the seller told me before he disappeared in a puff of smoke after handing over the cash hahahahahahaha
That joke just isn't going to die.

Bought a neck off Trev. Arrived the next day all packed up like a pro. A bit more info about it's overall condition in the ad would have been nice.. but hey I can fix it. Cheers. Rich.

I just bought a MXR M188 of a BC member via ebay but the battery cover is completely shot (probably why it went on to the bay and not here ). It looks pretty similar to the wah pedal cover. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement?
I like the way the sound is in time with the cat in your avatar
It's totally intentional.
Aye nice one Rich, I have now had to stick ma basses away in their cases...........after watching that I feel like there is just no point anymore.
Actually it just makes me want to try harder. C'mon Steve unpack that [s]Tokai[/s] er... genuine Rickenbacker and give it some welly.
i have yet to find a foolproof way of getting the shaft hole dead centred. i had one router method which is wastefull and a bit scary. could manage by hand/eye, probably. other wise i'm not sure how to go about it, maybe a lathe, which i don't have. i'll work on that. any ideas? thanks
Definitely a lathe. You could rig something up with an electric drill for small jobs if you don't have one or... .... you could just buy them in.
Isn't he playing a Sue Ryder bass with the pickguard replaced???
Could be... they sound just like this. [/sarcasm]

Sweet but it is so screaming out for wooden (maybe ebony) knobs.
I thought you might be carrying out some sort of sociological experiment, Rich: post controversial statement and see how many agree just to conform.
Yes busted... but not today. It was more a reaction against if I'd gone and said "how cool is this" (I do like it) we'd have had all the "well his technique sucks" posts. I just thought I get in first.
Mate your gonna think im a dick for saying this.. but i thought it was erm... a little sloppy...and a little rushed...i usually totally dig his playing...
Ach it is what it is. He's sat down pushed record and laid it on some. I just wish that one day I ca be that sloppy.
-
Erm that is me.. sorry you think my playing is shyte...
Sorry BB5 I guess the sarcasm isn't coming across to well today. I've had this sat on my desktop for a while and thought I'd share it. Very very well done that man. I am humbled.
-
How shyte is this guys tone and technique... especially the last 20 seconds.
-
No you have to ground the bridge which in turn grounds the strings and ultimately involves you in the circuit.
Flats are expensive.....
Flats aren't expensive. Status Hotwires are only £ 13.99 and are very very very good. (Jeez I should be on a commission from Status ) It's a myth that only the £30+ brands so often machinated about on here are the only worth while ones to get.
All that Aberdeen Angus on the door step going to waste! Keep sending it down here Rich
Yep I certainly chose the wrong place to be a non-meat eater. I actually used to work on a AA fam in the sumer hollidays when I was a kid but most of the coos you see around here now are of French and Dutch origin. Not a lot of people know that.
