Exactly. It's all just a load of codswallop and sales schpiel to justify desirability. It's delusional crediting every bass from an era with the same coveted and subjective qualities when identical engineering and technical spec is present in modern examples.

Do you have a multimeter so you can get an ohms reading off them?

I often play surf-green and '51 P basses at metal gigs. So no. I do hovever (as a rule) not play black basses at these same gigs because I want my bass to stand out from the rest. So in a roundabout way, yes.

Might be worth taking it along to the best bass/guitar tech in your area for a service and clean. He comes highly recommend and won't charge you through the nose for a below par job like R&B Music will. Clue : you won't have to go too far to find him.

It was indeed an odd gig for a touring band but satisfying none the less and the people were extremely accommodating. And on the back of that odd gig we were offered the support slot for the Phil Campbell gig in December.... yes folks Phil Campbell from Motorhead! We had it confirmed today. Chuffed is not the word.

So who wants to buy a custom bass with an unusual dead response, uneven volumes across the strings and goes wildly out of tune on anything above the 3rd fret for 300 smackers? Hmmm decisions decisions.

If the new buzzes are at either the top or the bottom of the neck then it's your tr. If they are spread pretty much over the length of the neck then it's your action. 9 times out of 10 it's your tr that needs adjusting after a string change (tension) unless you have gone for a vastly different diameter set then it will be both. Obvs, if you adjust the tr you then have to reset the intonation.
