Well done, lad; that's some fine playing there. Very good, clear recording; maybe a tad 'guitar-heavy..? I'm never completely convinced by the 'trio' format in this style, as I feel that the theme tends to get lost without at least a skeleton of chords going on, from keys, horns, strings, whatever (or even one of the trio..!). When all are 'blowing', it sounds at times like you're all playing different stuff. That's just me, though. Keep the drummer; he's gold. Sly humour, complicit smiles on occasions; he's listening to you two more than you two are listening to him. Just sayin'. Either way, an excellent performance, well captured, of which all involved may be justly proud. Highly enjoyable and informative (yes, one can play music at reasonable volume..!); many thanks for sharing. Good Stuff.

If the combo can deliver its full 400 W with its current 4 Ohm 250 W driver, isn't that potentially problematic, even without considering the extension cab aspect..? The combo driver needs to be compatible with the amp, surely..?

So what's the score if the singer wants to sing a number slowly, and it turns the song into a pig's ear..? Go with the singer's choice..? Surely not..?

Far from my usual listening, and a bit 'rough around the edges', being 'live', but I found this to be excellent; thanks for posting.

Perhaps not quite as simple as all that. 'On the door' revenue was far below the actual cost involved, and artists fees were far from the highest of those (about $300,000 in all, I think...). A certain amount was needed even to get any artists of note at all signed up; several 'big names' desisted (some regretted later, but not all...). In all, and after much wrangling and hand-wringing, it took about eleven years for the debts accumulated to be cleared. None of the organisers left with a bag of money; one had to sign up a million-dollar inheritance to guarantee funds to pay some bands in cash. Profit..? Now, yes, for some, but not a bean-feast for those putting it on at the time (although that's what they'd hoped for..!). One had to be there.

Assuming it's for tracking the bass alone (not 'live' with others playing...), just place the mic at mid-height about 1 metre or so in front of cab. Room acoustics will play a part in the sound recorded, so moving stuff around and trying different locations (cab in a corner, or in the middle of the room etc..?) could be rewarding. If there are others playing at the same time, it will be difficult to completely avoid 'bleed', but the mic at mid-cone height, horizontally halfway between cone centre and rim, 20 cm from the cab might be a place to start. More 'toppy' towards the cone centre, less towards the rim, distance to be adjusted by trial. Closer: less 'bleed', but less 'girth'. Just my tuppence-worth, subject to completion, correction and/or contradiction from others. Hope this helps.

You could get the extension cab to be connected up in series to your combo speaker (cabling mods needed, but not difficult nor costly...). You would then have your two cabs, with the amp seeing a reduced load, so maybe happier. Any mileage..?
