  1. Coincidentally enough I took my La Bellas off too. I wasn't digging the cloppy sound I was getting, not enough zing and bite for my taste. I ended up putting extra light gauge D'addario chromes on my P bass and GHS pressure wound strings on my Sterling Ray. I'm content with this set up. I'm getting the sounds I want and I prefer the sound of chromes a lot better. I can deal with the tension on the chromes with the extra light gauge set. I've never tried nylon strings before. I'm curious about the results you'll get if you decide to go that route.
  2. That's awesome! I'm so glad you like it here, we have our issues but it's home. I'm originally from the northern NM area (Taos/Espanola). I've been living in Albuquerque since 2012 for school.
  3. These are fantastic strings you won't regret them. I've had them on my Sterling Ray 34CA for a month and the results have been wonderful.
  4. Oh! haha I see now you're talking about my username, well I feel silly now.
  5. I have a few songs written in Eb. I do lead vocals in my band for now and we sometimes have to tune to D standard or C# because my vocals are baritone. I actually prefer the lower tunings, sounds more melodic that way.
  6. Thank you for the welcome! Is there a list of acronyms? I'm not too sure what TID means. Already looking through the forums, people seem a lot nicer here.
  7. I use to have chromes on mine but the tension was too stiff even after I went down to custom light gauge. I currently have La Bella low tension flats and I love them! They're a lot deeper and creamy sounding but I can get a good bark out of them when I open the tone. I'm probably never going to change them!
  8. Hello everyone! I am brand new to the forums as I just immigrated here from talkbass (I had enough of those guys). I have been playing music for 14 years now and have been playing bass guitar for 9 years. My current equipment consists of a Sterling Ray 34CA in 3 tone sunburst, 2010 MIM Fender Precision bass (3 tone sunburst), and an Ampeg BA210v2. My musical style and influences include, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Ghost, Rainbow, Dio, Rush, etc. and my top 5 influences include 1. Steve Harris 2. Geddy Lee 3. Cliff Williams 4. Geezer Butler 5. Dave Ellefson. I currently play in and am leader of my band Distortion of Time as we play what I like to call adventure metal, a fusion of progressive rock, power metal, and classic metal. It's great to be here! I'm looking forward to making new friends and starting new discussions!
