Right then, whole bunch of bits that I've collected and are now surplus... Most of it is lightly used and in good nick, the white pickguard being about the most battered thing here and the straps have marks where the straplocks have been on them. Just bought an excellent Moody strap from Loz, brilliant communication throughout and an all round gentleman to deal with.
For sale, a Moody 2.5" leather strap in black with tobacco suede inner. In very good condition indeed - almost indistinguishable from new but has been wearing schaller straplocks so the ends/strap-holes bear some impressions. The two 'Moody' logos in gold are perfectly intact. Stitching is in gold thread. Moody are widely considered to be the ultimate in luxury leather straps. They are beautifully made from the very finest materials and are supremely comfortable, especially with heavier instruments. Not easy to get hold of in the UK, they're priced at about £100 ($127 and €110). I think £50 for this one (including shipping to the UK) is about reasonable. You can see the strap on the Moody site at: http://www.moodyleather.com/xcart/home.php?cat=250
Got one, love it. Want another - I'll take it ! PM'd
This is a genuinely fabulous fretless and if I had managed to sell my fretless Wal this would already have been mine (again!) The buyer will be one lucky dude (or dude-ette). Get in quick!
Thanks Clarky, I know you love this bass as much as I do. I forgot to mention it has a great neck profile, sort of like a 70's P in width but shallower...very comfy to play.

Well, here goes... I've done this before, changed my mind, then did it again - etc etc. Luckily the last sale was to Clarky and I managed to get it back again (again!). I've finally decided that I have the basses I need (as opposed to basses I want, which is quite different) in the form of my NYC Sadowsky and USA Decade. Love them both to bits and will be sticking with them. So I'm going to try and sell the TF and hope it stays in the Basschat world of circulation. Not a common bass, and certainly not something you will find in shops over here. I tried one out when I was in NYC 4 years ago and bought one not long after I got home. It's an outstanding bass, mainly for its simplicity in my opinion. Nicely positioned Jazz pup along with a standard P pup and the 3 selector switch. Other than that its got the standard Drop tuner on the E string and I've grounded the bottom of the pup poles of the P pup as the mains in my house is awful and it was picking up a lot of noise that is now cured. Condition is excellent considering how much use its had, couple of little dings in the body and a fair bit of paint/pickguard swirling but the neck remains immaculate and everything else works fine. Weight is nice and light at just over 8 lbs. Comes with the original hard case and candy. I'm writing this from work (as I get much less time spare at home) so heres a couple of older photos, although nothing has changed anyway. Looking for £800 collected from Ipswich area - I'm not keen on postage only for the reason that I've run out of giant bass sized boxes
??? Please help me, I'm German ...
Don't worry, its a compliment. He is suggesting that your bass guitar is highly desirable to him, just like a canines testicles. Well, that all make perfect sense I expect, especially once translated to German Gotta watch this stuff - I once read that "out of sight, out of mind" when translated by computer into russian and back again came out as "invisible maniac" -
Fender P/J basses. 70s repositioned Jazz pup placement?
Legion replied to Shockwave's topic in Bass Guitars
What he said ...closer to the bridge than the "traditional" 70's spacing -
Aguilar did make a rack case in white to match the "white hot" range of DB cabs...but I can't see it on the website anymore. Might be worth talking to an Aguilar distributor? Here's an example of the 3u rack for a DB750 White Hot

Question for those who know about flatwound strings
Legion replied to Linus27's topic in General Discussion
Thank you. What gauge are the Sadwoskys and I take it these are the Black Label Flatwounds? I am interested as the Roto's are too tight but let me have a proper play of them first to see if I like flats and if yes then i'll be in touch. Cheers.
The sadowskys are medium gauge 45-105 (black label flats as you say). There is only a light and medium with sadowskys. -
Thanks guys, really usefull. I have heard good things about sadwoskys flats so may give them a try.
To date I've tried these flats; Sadowskys, Chromes, TI's, Roto's, Pyramid, Lakland JO, Picato, Status Hot wires, D'addario Nylons, Roto Trubass. The sadowsky strings are very good, and contrary to what I've read, mine mellowed considerably and have found a permanent place on my fretless. I actually bought another pack of sadowsky flats (which are now out of stock again) whilst over there with the intention of putting them on my decade...but I might try some Chromes on it first as they have that really dry unique sound that might work well with a decade. I was about to sell off a few of the sets I've been trying out..send me a PM if you fancy experimenting. -
Question for those who know about flatwound strings
Legion replied to Linus27's topic in General Discussion
That would be TI jazz flats...lowest tension you can get. Rotosounds are probably some of the highest tension/stiffest feeling flats there are. If you want to try some in the middle there are sadwoskys, ernie balls, chromes...the list goes on but at the extreme end of the range are: TI's - very low tension Rotos/ Labella Jameson set - very high tension. -
*cough* oops, how on earth did that happen.

"Fretless-bass-is-a-cliche-instrument-and-it-should-be-outlawed"
Legion replied to Dood's topic in General Discussion
Guaranteed to get the discussion heated in seconds: http://www.facebook.com/notes/jeff-berlin/...248767481801782 Err... Discuss, I reckon...
I don't get it - it's like saying fretless bass makes a certain sound so nobody can do anything different with it. Then in the same sentence he's saying fretted basses don't make a certain sound so you can. The only audio factor thats different as far as I can tell between fretted and fretless is the attack/decay characteristics inherent to each instrument. What someone does with it is open to infinite possibilities. -
Just took the TI's off my Mustang and replaced with Chromes whilst also fitting a Nordtrand NM4 - now sounds the nuts. I guess I'll return to the TI's again one day but I can't help think the extra tension on the Chromes is a good thing with a short scale...short scale+floppy strings=too floppy for me. Funny because last time I tried Chromes it was on a P bass and I hated them. Got TI's on my Sadowsky and love them there.

Another +1 for Gav - great guy to deal with.
