1. Another vote of confidence in Jim - just bought his Berg cabs and all went very smoothly.
 2.
Is there a TF looking for a new home? ...
I'm afraid I can upgrade my normally vague style of "maybe" with a definite no. I've realised one of my mistakes and selling that bass is one I won't make again
 3.
Beautiful bass Chris - good luck with the sale mate. Shall I PM Jase or will you? Kidding! Gorgeous sunburst
And I thought he was just joking with that comment... Hmm, very nice bass *ponders*
 4.
Oh dear. How you gonna hide that one from Mrs Legion and her horses, Jase?
MONSTERS! the lot of you, begone
 5.
Can I play?
Don't do it Rob! it's a seedy, dirty world - I'm only just recovering after months of counselling. I'm terrified that at any moment another tempting PM will come my way with some new "trade" or other
 6. Just took delivery of a Hipshot bridge from Mick - smooth and easy transaction, thanks
 7.
Offering my Hipshot vintage bridge which is a direct replacement for 5 screw Fender type units. These are excellent replacement bridges, much more solid than the standard bent metal Fender type. Nowhere near as ugly as a Badass & no issues getting a low action with this unit either. £65 +P&P new, £35 delivered.
If its still available, I'll take it paypal OK?
 8. Chris, any idea if its OK with other strings? I'm guessing it would be but you won't have tried anything other than the Labellas... Might be worth striping/burning off the silk at the ball end of the string to let it sit better on the saddle and allow the saddle to run further back?
 9.
TI Jazz Flats JF344 Never taken out of the paper packets. £25 posted
I'll take them please - PM your paypal details and I'll send the cash tonight J
 10. Ever since Tony came home I've noticed he seems darker and more mysterious than he used to be
 11.
you could go see Mike if your in Cambridge, he's just over near Witham Essex
And if you do go out that way you might as well visit Darren at the Bass Merchant as well - he has a Genz Neox212 in the store last time I was there.
 12.
Tempting, what gauge are they?
Just checked and they are the 45-65-85-105 set. Let me know if you want em.
 13. I've got a very lightly used set of DR Hi-Beams surplus if thats any use (I don't want the flats, but I'll help Clarky out) J
 14. *whistles innocently* Seem to have re-purchased my TF back again - another smooth transaction with the Clarkster
 15. Quick update - 6-32 UNC screws arrived today, fitted and fixed the intonation issue straight away. Lovely
 16.
Sold!
Did you sell, or was it a swap? As I have a BT3 I was about to put up for sale. Let me know if your interested. J
 17. My old girl, on which I practiced making bridges - took 2 goes to get that one right! Here's an old pic to help you along Jez. Best of luck with the sale, glad to hear you stuck to the upright stuff. J
 18.
Can you swap the longer D/G screw over to the E/A and vice versa?
Nice idea but the D and G are intonated correctly and are close to the end of the (longer) screws that they already have. Might drop Howard a mail as suggested... Edit: Actually a bit of a trawl turned up a previous post by BassDoc stating that the screws (on a P or J bass) are 6-32 UNC, so I've ordered some 2" ones in that thread size. Fingers crossed
 19. Hi, I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction here... My '75 Mustang bass is fairly out on the intonation of the E and A strings and I cannot move the saddle any closer to the neck as the intonation screws are not long enough (with TI flats fitted). The screws on the D and G are longer.... Anybody know what size the screws are so that I can source 2 longer ones that will allow me to setup the intonation correctly? Cheers
 20. Is this Frans old bass? Always liked this a lot....tempting. Whats the weight please?
 21.
Fine question! *checking into my bank account*
It did - to me With my shortscale-experimentation-phase pretty much done I've been considering moving this on. PM me if you are interested, I can put it up for sale then.
 22.
Well, I was using a couple of different sounds on my (Programmable) BDDI for different basses (I use a passive P/J and an active Ray), so they naturally translated into presets (the input gain can be preset on the RH, which I find very handy - you really don't want to get that wrong on a busy stage). Less faffing with the controls - 1 is Passive P, 2 is Ray, 3 is for the 'softer' setting for our more acoustic numbers. I am a simple creature, and I can cope with numbers which light up. As long as there's only 3... The downside of the always-on tuner is that if you play a bum note, the guitard can see what you've done...
The plus side though is that if you play a fretless you get to adjust your intonation to perfection on those slow drawn out notes
 23. Like all things I feel there is a subtle difference between "need" and "want". I certainly don't "need" a 5 string. As it happens I don't want one either:)
 24.
Getting back OT, I entirely agree that there's no such thing (for most people) as a genuine keeper but I do think there is such a thing as a "category killer". If you keep trading and keep trading, eventually you find yourself with a bass that simply isn't worth replacing because there's nothing significantly better out there. Two years ago I never dreamed that I'd end up owning a 1966 Precision; now that I do, it's pretty unlikely that I'll be buying any more Precisions for the foreseeable future. Doesn't that make my 1966 P a keeper, then? Nope. If I got the chance to trade up to a 1963 or even (gulp) a 1956 then I'd do it in a flash ... but the chances of that deal coming my way are fairly slim. I actually thought that Clarky's Pino would be a category killer for him, OK, I was wrong. But it could still happen.
I'd go with this analogy as well - the Pino is category killer for me, hence my desire to get it back (very pleased I did). Although as you say, if the real deal came along at the right price etc etc I'd seriously consider it. It's a case of finding something you like, then the quest seems to warp into finding the "best" example of that thing.
 25.
Lovely collection. Is that a new Pino or your old one back?
That would be the old one back (thanks Clarky) - well spotted
