1. I notice Status Graphite no longer offer their black nylon strings. Seeing as the ones on my fretless are a few years old now, I am wondering if there is a comparible alternative. It's a five string so a good B is important. Any suggestions? Thanks!
2. Welcome! What part of Cyprus Jonny?
3. Never realised you could do that! I shall investigate further, thanks!
4. Looks the biz but probably a bit more than I wanted to pay, given the amount of use it'll be getting...
5. Thanks guys, thats a good price for the Roland, looks like its sold out though!! Keep 'em coming!!
6. My daughter has commandeered my Bose Bluetooth Speaker and it now resides in her accommodation at Uni. I didn't use it that often but I do miss it occasionally. I notice there are loads of cheap alternatives on amazon and suchlike, and I am wondering if anyone could recommend something of similar sound quality without the inflated price tag. Purely for listening to music, no desire to try and counter any latency issues by playing bass through it.....the cheaper the better!!
7. Jack, your avatar was in perfect sync to that clip....
8. Welcome Graham, where is Cyprus are you?
9. Hey Freddie, I have an Elwood fiver, you're welcome to try - Swindon based too..
10. Indeed it is.....
11.
An alternative to Absolute is North Road Music Centre on the outskirts of Poole. The clientele is probably more in tune with her tastes. Absolute has tuition in the days and bands at night which tend to be older.

Bournemouth doesn't really have a very good music scene unfortunately. But to be honest she will get a lot of contacts from University as it rules this town in most regards. Poole is a little better music wise (marginally).
Thanks guys
12.
The scene is dominated by the weekly Stan's Blues Jams. If you don't like blues (or aren't one of the clique, which is why I gave up on em) then there's not much else bar the open mikes.
Thanks for the reply, I'll pass it on to her. With luck she'll meet some like-minded fellow students....
The daughter of one of my fellow dog walkers has just graduated from Bournemouth Uni. I'll see what she knows..
That would be great thanks
She should check out Absolute Music. An awful lot going on there. Robbie
Thanks Robbie, I'll get her on to it.....
13.
I'll speak to my drummer. He's down Bournemouth/Poole way and will know I'm sure.
Thanks Gareth
14. My daughter is off to Bournemouth Uni in Sept and as an improving Bass player she is hoping there might be a jam session or two locally that she might be able to attend. She's 19, been playing for a year or so and is confident enough to play with other musicians in a pub setting provided she knows the songs! She regularly attends a jam here in Swindon where they tend to play indie numbers rather than endless blues guitar jams and is hoping to find something similar in Bournemouth. Any recommendation Bournemouth folks? Thanks in advance......Andy
15. Bodhisattva by Steely Dan. Not sure if it was a hit over here but it certainly hit the spot for me! Starts at about 1.35
16. How about a talk on In Ear Monitoring by someone in the know? I see quite a few threads on the subject so there might be some interest...?
17.
Eat a garlic and anchovy vindaloo before going on stage.
Are you a solo artist by any chance?
18. Here's an opportunity for someone.......Rockhopper Studio
19.
How "permanent" is this marker, do you reckon?
I found that it would need re-applying maybe a couple of times a year, possibly more if you play with your thumb over the neck...... It'll come off with a fingernail if necessary
20. Gigged with my fretless last night so i thought I'd give this a try and it does indeed expose sloppy intonation!! Will include a mic stand and speakon lead if collected from Swindon....

22. I've used one of these to good effect in the past.........https://www.amazon.co.uk/Uni-Ball-PX-20-Permanent-Marker-White/dp/B00177ZN6G/ref=pd_sim_201_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=J5B260C9HW5FK1CFA1SY
23. i got one up for sale at the moment, you're welcome to come over to Swindon to try it.....probably let it go for a ton if you collected. I found it useful when I was playing fretless in a loud band.... Edit: Yes I have paid the marketplace subscription!!
24. Bump!
25. Unwanted Christmas present - band using in ears now Never used in anger, but from a couple of rehearsals, I would say it really works in terms of improving hearing yourself, particularly the high mids and highs. Our rehearsal space ain't great soundwise and I can see no reason to think it wouldn't work for all venues as per the sales pitch. Obviously boxed as new. Priced to sell inc postage to UK mainland.
