The DC socket is switched when a plug is inserted into it.I f the unit doesn't work on batteries and the batteries overheat, my best guess is that the DC socket is faulty and applying a short circuit across the batteries. HTH
I think you're probably right. I believe it's now powered by someone's pedal board,
Belatedly picked up on this. Anyone know whether there's a discount available for MU members?
Dunno, but I'm in for a group discount - Road trip!!
-
Andy, why aren't you working!? (My excuse - working at home and having my well-earned lunch break.)
I'm on my break too - taking advantage of the BC mobile app!
-
tried one, liked it, would have another if my EAD was swallowed by a whale or stolen, can't see me parting with it otherwise though
Plus one ;-)
I hear those have a really transparent sound ;-) Sorry, can't help, but hopefully the seller is working with you on this?
Lol!! Bloody predictive text! No complaints re the seller

Just taken delivery of a TC Electronic polytune, acquired through the for sale section of the forum. Unfortunately it doesn't work using battery power! I've tried two brand new 9v pro cell batteries and its dead as a dodo when the jack is inserted - doesn't even light up . After a few minutes, the battery gets almost too hot to touch. It works perfectly well with a Boss 9v psu. The seller is being thoroughly decent and I'm sending it back for a refund, but I wondered whether any of the knowledgeable chaps on here could offer an insight on what the problem might be? Thanks in advance Andy

£310 with four hours to go….. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331077839875?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648

I stripped the threads on mine once - a jubilee clip tightened over the endpin at the correct height got me out of trouble temporarily......

Has anybody ever constructed a pick up that attaches to the bridge like a clip on tuner? The Snark tuner I am using seems to have no trouble with the signal if you get it positioned correctly so maybe there is potential for a design there?
I'd estimate that you could go as short as 15 mm.
Maplin do 19mm if you don't mind them tapered

I got a laptop cooler similar to this http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?sbk=1&nav=SEARCH&itemId=360678388553 from the £shop when I had Barefaced cabs - worked a treat :-)
Here are some example from BC sales. Of course it's possible that the asking prices were haggled down a bit: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/207600-1971-fender-precision-bass-sold/page__p__2077778__hl__71%20precision__fromsearch__1#entry2077778 http://basschat.co.uk/topic/191980-fsft-fender-197071-precision-bass-fretless-l2k/page__p__1898441__hl__71%20precision__fromsearch__1#entry1898441 http://basschat.co.uk/topic/220728-sold-1971-blond-fender-precision-owned-by-willie-weeks/page__hl__71+precision__fromsearch__1
Thanks for taking the trouble to find those, a great help :-)

Thanks guys, that was sort of the ball park figure I thought.
I've seen refinished early 70's drop to as little as £1,100 on EBay. I'm not saying the seller isn't trustworthy but you never know what may have been done by a previous owner.
Wise words! Where could one take it to get checked over?

Attention Fender aficionados! I have the opportunity of first dibs on a 70's P Bass, here's part of the email I received
Fender Precision Bass (early 70's - can't remember the exact year - it was quite a while ago!!). Serial Number 326564. It has a Tortoise Shell Scratch Plate, original Fender Case and all the original chrome fittings . (All in Excellent condition).
The guy is the second owner from new, the first being his mate who sadly died so he bought it from the widow and has hardly used it since. What would be a fair price to offer? Thanks Andy

Try a google search for "portable PA system", you'll find a load of more suitable items. HTH

I would loosen the strings before tightening the trussrod and try a little back and forth movement of the Allen key to try and free it up. Make sure you have the correct size Allen key!
Have it a go tonight. Unfortunately I think my truss rod is buggered, I couldn't get the damn thing to move. Any tips for loosening them off or am I just going to have to raise the saddles and deal with high action? :-(
How about an Ibanez AGB 140 or AGB 200 if you want a short scale? I will be putting an AGB 140 in the for sale section soon if that is of interest . -
