1. Can I see a pic of the body? Or is my computer just being silly and not letting me see the ones in the OP? Cheers
2. Im looking at starting a jazz bass project, I want the end result to be as good as possible for as cheap as possible. Ive looked at squiers, and I like what I see in the vintage modified section. However theyre not that cheap I also had a quick peek at SX, and they look very nice and with very nice prices. Can they be found in the uk?
3.
Check the bridge for sharp edges, but you might just have been unlucky with suspect batches of strings. In fact the only set of HiBeams i used did this after about 20 minutes play (i followed the instructions on the packet) and there has been another thread recently: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...;hl=dr+hi+beams Also Geoffbyrne has an the A and E strings for sale if one you broke one of those: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...p;hl=dr+hibeams For 2+2 headstocks but that shouldn't matter on the lower strings.
That thread was also me i'll check the bridge for sharp edges, but i'll be glad to try another brand of strings, Hibeams arent cheap Thanks for the help
4. i just had another string break on me, twice in the last 4 months now. And im starting to wonder what the cause may be. i dont play that hard on the strings, although i do slap. Both times the string didnt snap, it uncoiled at the bridge. The strings were DR highbeams, not cheap strings. And on my pathetic students budget i dont fancy another breakage i know this is a long shot but any help will be much apreciated. Mike
5. Yup, at a concert with my band i got asked to play bass for a 10 year old band. Was great fun, and the sad thing was they got better recepted than mine did
6. Would you realy wanna fight this guy? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Avw3cMFRpKM

8.
it's called evolution
Agreed. Technacly the bass evolved from the upright and from the guitar Although i cant name any 5 string players. Other than when eric claptop broke a string...
9. i put one, as my lindo doesnt deserve the credit of being called "bass". And where do you guys store all these bass's?
10. im trying to get a endorsement with lindo, theyre last shipment of budget plywood was great And the necks are now almost playable. Gratz on the endorsement
11. +1 for ibanez. Great tones and lovely neck.
12.
With the pickguard definitely! But personally, I'd change it for white pearl. Truckstop
+1, Pearl goes realy nice with red
13. Bartolini Are fantastic in my opinion. If your feeling wealthy then have a look at glockengang (Did I spell it right? )
14. I got my BTB second hand so I'm not sure what's supposed to come with. Cracking bass's, you'l love it
15. Nice choice of gear there, BTB's are a personal favourite of mine And with finger style its all practice as said above. Try experimenting with anchoring your thumb on a pick-up or using the floating technique. I'm in the oposite position too you, i'm confident with fingertyle and pants at using a pick.
16. i know that warmoth's are great quality. Very pricy though
17. My god the flame one looks gorgeous! Some very interesting disigns on there
18. Cheers for all the reply's guys. i tried to find a single string but to no avail, so today i forked out and bought a new set. As i'm a very poor student it was quite a blow But it was worth it, they sound great and i transfered the remaining strings to my other bass. Which makes them sound terrible but thats another matter
I agree with this. It's all about image and who uses your product. It's critical. Let's face it, who wants to go on stage with a Benson or a Lindo?
i have done the latter, it did the job :L Although it stayed in tune just enough for our ten minute set, it sounded... like a bass......ish...
20. Was just playing around on my ibby and the g string uncoiled and is now totaly dead. is there anywhere that sells single DR hi beams? The other strings are not as bright as they were out of the packet but they arent too bad. Will having a newer string sound odd? Cheers Mike
