1. I tried out a Mag 300 head through a Markbass 2x10, and it sounded wonderful. I compared it to a Hartke Lh500 head with the same cab, and the ashdown was far better. A nice warm tone, but you can easily dial in a Hi fi slap tone. It was very versatile. When I got back I read all the horrible things that were said about them on here, and got a bit confused Maybe cabs change the sound more than I thought.
2. Wow looks great Ross, I love the control plate. Im now trawling ebay to try one of these myself How does it play?
3. Looking great How much would one of these CNC machines set me back?
4. I use a BTB as my main bass, its very, very good. It plays like butter and the electronics are superb. I would highly recomend ibanez, ive never played a bad one. And this may be slightly unrelated, but I reaaly want one of these http://www.zzounds.com/item--IBASR1400
5. I dont realy understand whats so special about it
6. Ive been playing for around 2 years, and I like to think ive gotten quite good. I get quite a few compliments gigs, but one question comes up quite alot. "Why do you play bass and not guitar?" I find it quite hard to awnser, ive always prefered bass, and it comes more naturaly to me than guitar. Somthing my drummer said anoyed me, "Your to good to play bass, you should be our guitatist" . Anyone else pondered on this before?
7. What are the hammers like?

9. And Sei Or you could Mod your fender to make it into a super jazz
10.
Because a lot of kids probably feel if they can't display some playing ability, the shop staff won't take them seriously or perhaps sneer at them. I think people understimate the courage it takes some people to go into a music shop. Remember when jewellers used to have blacked out windows and an air of exclusivity in the 1970s? I would not have dared set foot in one at the time. But then Ratners came along with an air of inclusiveness and openess, so people took the leap. Same with old pubs with stained glass windows above eye level. Many now have huge clear windows so you can see in, that was to encourage women to feel safer and go into the pub. A lot of music shops still have staff with bad attitudes, I sometimes feel like I've walked into their house.
+1 Im 15 and im still a bit anxious to ask to try out an expensive bass because I feel that people will feel badly towards me because im to young to play it. So I used to play somthing realy fast to try to make myself look better Fortunately ive calmed down and I now play in my usual fasion. It also helps that my nearest shop is Mansons, who are a very helpfull bunch

12.
No, look for straight grain and lack of cracks & defects for necks. Anything will work for bodies. Here's a bass I made from a local wood store's supplies. The maple was less than $3 a board foot.
Thats realy nice man, great work. Where'd you get the wood from? Also if you dont mind me asking, what machinery was required for this build?
13. I would try them all out if you can, but I would go for ibanez, very nice thin necks and versitile tones.
14. How odd, I was just watching this Very nice playing and great tone
15. I heard that a sawmill near me might be selling kiln dried ash in varying sizes, im temped to go get some.

17. So would wood from my local sawmill be rubbish for guitar making?
18. I would say in the middle of medium to high. I find playing too low feels a bit silly, but mark king hight hurts my chest
19. im a tad confused as to what tonewoods actualy are. im guesing that they are higher quality and more resonant that normal hardwoods. But how does this work? Also if i were to go down to my local sawmill and ask for quartersawn ash, would it be good for making a bass out of? Cheers Mike
