1. I am trying to sell my 78 Rick 4001 on Gumtree as prez. If this goes then I will go for this. I have E strat and E tele. Great instruments.
2. My god, you are all so neat n clean n organised. No way that I am putting my studio in this thread, someone would contact environmental health.
3. First time that I have heard a NIN groove that I quite liked. I think the song however is just unfinished. Seems like they run out of ideas for a complete song. I can see other artists taking the groove in an interesting direction. It is a long time since I played in a band but I do remember a 'that's enough...it's finished' attitude. If I were them I would re visit the song and develop it. Of course, for those of you who failed to notice, I am not them, just a fat old critical git sitting at a PC.
4. Seen worse. A well known artist here in Scotland asked her fans directly to contribute cash to fund her next record. Michelle Shocked recently asked for her fans to advertise on her behalf. I see this as a wee bit cheeky but not malicious. Sales of recordings have plummeted so a return on this is unlikely.
5. Have my Rick 4001 and Gib 355 in Gumtree. Will snap this up if they go but I assume that you are in a hurry to sell? As above....will you courier?
6. The strings above have been IDed as Thomastik Superfexible by someone on the forum. They have been on the instrument for at least 6 months (when I bought the inst from another forum member...). What would be a fair price to put on them. Not interested in making a profit from this.
7. Not sure if I have attached the file correctly but was wondering if anyone recognised these strings. They appear pretty high tension to me.
8. Just changed the strings on my EUB (to Silver Slaps...what a difference). I don't know what the other strings are. Is there a way of IDing them? They have blue threads. They are steel and have very high tension(IMO). Thinking of punting them (or giving them away if they are of no value.
9. Just remember that truth should always be served in very small portions. I try to avoid it personally when it comes to music stuff.
10. Damned expensive them there TI flats
11. Which gauge TI flats should I go for? This is a subject that I know bugger all about. I had always assumed that string gauge and tension were directly related. How do you know which strings are high tension and which ones lower (probably a tigga nooby question) ?
12. No I did not feel good about messing with the rods. Thought that I was buying light guage strings. Last ones were Elixir. Have loosened them and re thinking. What guage and make of string then. I do like the feel of flats on the fingers
13. I have a 78 Rick 4001. Just re strung it with Rotosound Jazz flats 110 - 50. The action is very high. I had a pro set up a year and a half ago as I don 't feel comfortable messing with the double truss rod. Seemed OK at the time. Do these instruments have a high action anyway...the neck is pretty thin ..or do I need lighter strings...its getting expensive trying different strings...or do I need another set up.
14. Just bought a Realist pup from Harry. Excellent smooth speedy transaction. Good communication and item as said. Many Thanks
15. I'll have this. How do you want to arrange payment? Jimmy
16. If I could sell my Yamaha 475 I would have this. Will stick it on Gumtree at w/e.
17. Changing the Realist pick up..............is that a job for a luthier....? I have a tool to recover the pole if it drops but I haven't ever tried that.
18. Yep. That makes a lot of sense. Buying a second hand Realist out of the question then. Which pup are recommended for Eminence instruments?
19. Hi Bridge feet are OK. How long would a Realist be fully functioning? This is not an old instrument.
20. I have a Kania contrabass. I love the instrument but I am disappointed in the output to the amp. Use a Gage Realist and Fishman pro pre but still seems very quiet. The instrument itself is very quiet so think that I need a peizo pup. Maybe the the pup is gubbed or it is the wrong pup to use. I contacted Kania and they recommended the Shadow pup but don't want to spend sheds and still have the same output. Was looking at a Full Circle. Anyone had the same problem?
21. http://www.keldayguitars.com/ Bill Kelday is the man in Central Scotland.
22. I also have a Realist. I did think that the output was low but since I am new to DB I thought that it was normal. I also get a slight backgroud hiss every time I strike a note. The instrument maker suggested that it could be an earthing issue. i hav new leads and the amp seems OK with the ebass. Think that I will look into another pup. They suggest a Shadow Sx 965. Will look at Bassmax
23. Yes the stroboclip looks great but priceee. The idea of a good clip on is appealing. A chain of appliances is a bit annoying. I use a fishman pre into the tuner then into the amp. Could end up like a guitarist ye gods forbid. I remember paying around 60 squid for my TU12 when it first came out, probably 20+ years ago so gadget prices have remained stable and have gone down in real terms. I think that I am uncontrollably talking myself into the stroboclip. I mostly record although do not rule out gigging. The Kania contrabass sound requires micing up as well as the piezo so all these things can divert you from actually playing accurately
24. hi does the TC polytune have a mic or is it strictly plug in?
25. I use an old Boss TU12 that I have had for ever. Seems quite slow to register and not sure about its acuracy. Which tuners do folk use for DB?
