1. Bought Ryan's Tony Levin signature OLP off him. 100% can recommend as a seller. Great communication throughout, very quick at booking the courier for it, all in all a great guy to buy from. Cheers Ryan for a great bass!
2. Would you be willing to courier? Cheers
3. PM'd, hope this is still available, been looking for one for ages!

6. Here for sale is my Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 amp head which I got from here a while ago now. It's had very little use since I bought it, and since I'm not in a band anymore I'd rather it had more use elsewhere, as it's an excellent little amp. Here's the spec from the Genz website: FEATURES • Ultra Light 3.75 lb Design • Power: 375W/8 ohms; 600W/4 ohms • Analog 12AX7 Tube Preamp • Digital SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supply) • High Current Class D Amplifier • Active EQ w/Parametric Mids • 3-Band Signal Shape Circuit (Footswitchable) • Signal Mute Switch (Footswitchable) • Tuner Out • Extended Range Input Gain for Active/Passive Sensitivity • Limiter Circuit • LED Status Indicators • Speakon® Speaker Outputs • Internal Fan Cooling • Full XLR Direct Out Interface • Aux. Input • Headphone Jack • Effects Loop • Optional Footswitch available I don't have the gig bag for it but I'm sure there are a few floating about on the marketplace. The amp will be sold with a power lead but no speakon I'm afraid, as that's already been put to use elsewhere. I'm asking £320 plus delivery costs, which I'll enquire about and update this post when I get the pictures off my camera. Or if you live anywhere near Bridlington I'll deliver within a 30 mile radius, or meet the buyer halfway (for the cost of fuel). That's about it, pics to follow!
7. A big +1 for Barefaced cabs - I run my Compact with a Genz Benz Shuttle 6 and it's the loudest rig I've ever had that retains it's clarity at high volumes. Good range of sounds from the GB too - anything from crisp and clear to warm and a bit fuzzy although if major fuzz is your bag then you'd need a pedal, contrary to what a lot of people say I've never been able to get a massively overdriven sound out of the Genz.
8.
In other words, does 'integrity' come into the picture at all?
In my opinion, no! In my job I sometimes have to deal with people who I disagree completely with - for instance, a proactive member of the BNP who I had to teach how to use a computer! But that's the point of it being a job - you'd be there to make money, simple as. Unless, of course, you're someone like Victor Wooten, who I can't imagine standing in for a session with a death metal band although I'm sure he'd do it quite well!
9. For the last 4 years I've been playing with a guy who seriously makes my job easy - his timing is impeccable. We actually had to drag and drop a verse from the first half of a song into the second half on a recording once (because the guitarist got it wrong the second time!) and bugger me if the tempo was bang on throughout the entire song - it slotted in perfectly. We also seem to gel together really well - even when we're messing around we always seem to be going in the same direction, it makes playing a lot more fun. Saying that, he's just let us know that he's knackered his sciatic nerve and can't drum for an indefinite amount of time (possibly never again), so we're rehearsing with another drummer tomorrow. I just hope I get on with him in the same way! I'm gutted to say the least.
10. Nice one mate, I'll see you there, we're headlining Saturday night but we'll be sticking around all weekend have you played the ELL rally before? It's a great event for a good cause too, the guy who organises it (I think it's Graham?) is a great bloke too.
11. Never again, not after last time when I smacked into the wall of a holiday park clubhouse!
...after a drunken gig you could be tempted to ride the cab down a road
12. I've been using a Shuttle 6.0 for 5 months now with a Barefaced Compact and I've never experienced any of this supposed "lack of low-end". I use a 5 string and have never struggled with clarity on the low B... sure, technically the 6 rolls off at a higher frequency than the 9 - but to human ears (well my ears at least) it handles all the lows you'd need with ease... just my 2p!
13. I usually use DR's or Elixirs most of the time - at the moment my Spector's strung with DR Hi Beams, but in the past I've used Black Beauties (my favourite for looks, and they do last ages), Sunbeams and Marcus Miller Fat Beams - all were awesome, to be honest, but my 2 favourites for sound and playability were the Hi Beams and the Elixirs. I love the way Elixirs feel, plus the fact that they seem to have that awesome "bright but not too bright" tone - and keep it for months! I think the last set of Elixirs I had on my bass lasted about 14 months of pretty extensive gigging before I changed them, and they still sounded OK
14. Very informative, and very well presented I'm glad to see other people are like me too - want to know every little detail about something before deciding one way or the other! Plus it will look rather swish when you get the "clicky thing" working (my technical vocabulary leaves a lot to be desired!)
15.
does it have any markings on the side of the neck to indicate fret position?
Yes it does, standard white dots. I'll take a picture and put it up tonight if I get chance, a few people have asked the same question!
16. Unfortunately I'll take myself off the list, as my drummer has just found out he has a back problem which will pretty much wipe out gigging for the first half of the year, and uncertain about the second. If someone else could have it for the week in my place and actually get to gig it that would be better I think. I'll just have to wait 'til I can afford to buy one eh!
17. I use an Ibanez LU20: http://www.imuso.co.uk/Accessories/Guitar-...tar-Pedal-Tuner Bright display, rugged metal body, and cheaper than the Boss I was originally going to buy! Has worked fine for 4 years of solid gigging, worth a look.
18.
If you do get a 40TW, please drop me a line. I have two which I think are dead which I would like to have tested. Details here.
Cheers, if I get one I'll let you know. Thanks all for the replies, looks like I'll save a while longer and get the BQC system too then. My Spector has HZs in it at the moment, and although it's got an active preamp, it can sound pretty dull and lifeless (and yes I do change strings regularly!) I just want that bit more "oomph", and I'd rather drop a couple of hundred quid on a bass I love playing than spending probably more money on a different instrument. Although I do quite fancy a Warwick... but that's a thread for another day!
19. Still waiting for them to bring out a 5 string Jag! Or a 5 string VMJ for that matter, either would be an instant buy for me.
20. Hi all, Just wondered what your thoughts were on the best pickup config for the EMG 40 range. Was thinking about getting a 40TW for the bridge and a 40J for the neck (to replace the mediocre 40HZs that are in it now). Only problem is, the new EMGs use "Quik Connect" and I'm not sure if it'll be more trouble than it's worth connecting them to the existing preamp. So would it be possible to leave out the preamp and just run the bass with the 2 active pickups? At least until I've saved up again for a decent EMG pre! Do you think it'll be worth the £150+ that it'll probably cost? Thanks in advance guys!
