1.
Has anyone used the EBS Multidrive? I was just wondering if anyone had any reviews about this pedal.
I found it to be a fantastic pedal, really versatile and with lots of great sounds. Check out the EBS website for lots of cool sound clips. EDIT: Here's a nice review of all the Black Label pedals, including the MultiDrive, from Bass Guitar Magazine in 2004: http://www.bass.se/2009/reviews/blp/blp_BassGuitar2004.pdf I hope that's of some use.
2. Finbar, that makes me want to cry. It almost makes me question my own stupidly large pedalboard. That and the intriguing new M9.

Line6 M9

I've got so many stomps and I'm so happy with them... but why oh why I am gassing for the m9!?!?!1 I could look straight past the m13!
4. I'd combine something like an EHX Micro Pog (great digital octave up, with the down too) with some kind of overdrive or fuzz. Variations of the Big Muff are a popular starting point for fuzz. The Bass Micro Synth is a good idea, especially if you only want to turn on one pedal for that sound, and plus with everything else included in the pedal you can have a lot of fun. I'm loving the big sweeps you can get with it.
5. Why not try the Tube mode on your EBS? Really adds character!
6. Hysteria - I use G5 blended into Bass Big Muff, on dry mode.
7.
Put this beasty together this week. My guitarist is jealous
Two Wahs for Commerford-esque sounds?
8. I've got an EBS MultiComp and it really is the dog's dangly bits. Fantastic pedal and really worth every penny. I got one second hand off these very forums for £80, in perfect nick! I literally never turn it off and can proudly call itself one of my essential pedals.
9. Bugger! I wanted this!!!
10. PM sent re SYB-5.
11.
Marshall Reflector is a great reverb pedal I reckon. Well worth a look.
+1 I use one, bought one off of these very forums, sounds great, nice and cheap, well made and doesn't look half bad either . DigiTech also do the DigiVerb, which is equally as good, and the Boss RV-3/5 pedals are probably even better, but with a hefty price tag to match. As far as a Distortion goes, there are way too many options to consider, and we've all got our favourites. What kind of sound are you looking for? Here's a few popular pedals, many which feature in the POST YOUR PEDALBOARD thread: Boss ODB-3 - Loved and Hated equally, a personal favourite of mine and my personal go-to Distortion sound. Cheap, reliable, good blend, good EQ and lots and lots of gain if you want it! Tech 21 Sansamp VT Bass - Very versatile, but more expensive. Big forum favourite. Reliable, wide range of sounds, great, precise EQ, really nails that overdriven SVT sound. Mojo Hand/ Tone Factor Cream Pie Deluxe - More boutique, more expensive, but worth the extra cash. Great sounds, really natural overdrive. Lots of fans on BassChat and TalkBass. However maybe you're looking for more of a Fuzz pedal? OR BOTH! There's lots of love for the new Electro Harmonix Bass Big Muff, the EHX Russian Big Muff (not the USA, unless heavily modded), MXR Blowtorch and the vintage ProCo Rat and vintage Marshall Guvnor distortion. Hope that's some help, Rich
12. Just got back from Leeds Festival, fantastic weekend as always. Anyway, stood watching Placebo in the absolute tipping rain, it was clear that the stage was turning into quite a lake. Much to my amazement, none of the members of the band made any efforts to stop their pedals from getting wet, just leaving them out at the front in the constant downpour. I have always been under the impression that electrics and effects pedals don't mix with water, let alone heavy rain coupled with even heavier stomps. Can you actually do anything to protect your pedals from dying in the rain? Or was this perhaps just a case of F*** it and if they break I can easily replace them?
13. Best check the title of your thread mate. I got very excited when I saw you were advertising it for £20!
14. Fantastic post. This should be added to the Compression sticky!
15. Bass Blogger = dire! Bass Big Muff = AMAZING!!!!
16. I got mine second off of this very forum, so keep checking the classifieds? Or perhaps: http://woboge.com/
17. Digitech Bad Monkey (with mod) +1
18.
+1.. for the Fender bass, even. Also, Mr. Engineer... Do you see that thing next to the bass player's mic on the stage plan? Yep, it's a monitor. I know you think it's on there by accident, but it's not. Bass players like to hear what's going on, too. So.. be a diamond and make sure one is provided. Preferably one that works, and is plugged in. Thank you.
I have only ever played one or two gigs where I ahve actually been able to hear myself. And that's out of a lot of gigs!
19. Really REALLY want the FM-4. But I have no money. I want to wish you good luck the sale, but to be honest I hope it takes long enough for my next pay cheque to come through .
20. Hey. Recently I've really started to get into DnB and just general electronica and simply I would love to emulate the classic sounds that live bassists use in this style. Here's a fantastic example, Jojo Mayer & Nerve: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvUbl0fWqzU What is the effect that Nerve is using throughout? He's using an expression pedal as well to control the rate of something? I've got a great feeling, that with an expression pedal, I can get similar sounds to these from my G5. Yes? No? Maybe?! Here's another great video, taken from Bass Day UK 2007, Bond's Modulation Video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvF736L9rbo Now if anyone would love to give me a run through the different effects that he use through the video and HOW he uses them, that would be fantastic. I'm particularly interested in that sound around 3:00. Here's a photo of his board for reference: Thanks for everyone's help as usual!!! Rich
21. This is exactly what I'm looking for, for Uni practice. Can you tell me model number please mate? Rich
22.
Think the OC3 has some sort of drive knob in one of its modes, not sure what the mode equates to though.
Yeah it does, its' third mode: "Drive". It's not a bad sound actually, it's a really an overdrive. Doesn't sond bad on it's own actually without the octave!
23.
I use my flanger to help get a really nice synthy fuzz. I use: Animato -> WM -> Flanger -> Phase 90 Give it a go, you may be able to work it into a song somewhere. Nice board, I just got a BSW in a trade and looking forward to using it at practice tonight.
Cheers man, I will indeed give a similar combination a go when I next have time to get my board out. It sounds pretty weird running a Flanger through a Phaser though, must say. Yeah the BSW is a fun pedal, nothing on it that I can't already cover, but some good sounds. Tbh I'll probs end up putting it on the board soon when I've got enough time to set it up.
24. I'm very happy with my Boss OC-3. It's digital, tracks very well, but sounds very natural. Has a great drive setting too. Octave 1 + 2 down, like the OC-2, but with a polyphonic mode. Great for chords!
25. I borrowed an Electro Acoustic for a few performances. With it I used: TU-2 Tuner MultiComp Compressor CEB-3 Chorus DD-6 Delay M-80 Pre/DI I got some great, really natural sounds that really complimented the acoustic bass.
