Nowadays with the advances in amplification and sound projection, a 2x10 combo is perfect to start with if you're going straight into gigging I reckon. Some of them can get really quite loud! Warwick and EBS spring to mind. Truckstop

I picked up bass because I wanted to be a bass player. I can play guitar, drums and piano too, but my love is bass. If I can get myself a gig where i'm playing bass live once or twice a week, I could fake my own death happy. Truckstop

I would love to find a cover band local to me so I can get out there, show off my gear, have some fun and play some tunes that I love. Much easier than getting a band together and spending a couple of years getting the material up to scratch! Truckstop

Oh, I've not heard it yet but to be honest, the only album since Issues I've bothered listening to is 'Evolution' which is a wick album! Truckstop

Elbows cover of U2's 'Running To Stand Still'. Probably my favourite cover of all time. In fact, when I listen to it, it doesn't feel like a cover. It feels like a song that Elbow wrote themselves and they really have made it all their own here. Lovely bass riff at the end too. Ray LaMontagne was lovely! Reminded me somewhat of Fleetwood Mac 'Never Going Back Again'. Modernised 'Deeper Underground' was pretty cool, but yeah, more distortion and other effects!! Truckstop

I know they sound incredible, but I also find them very ugly indeed. But I can overlook that based on the sound. If, however, they're uncomfortable and unwieldy, then I'll just save for something else because I don't want a bass that's ugly [b]and[/b] uncomfortable. Truckstop

I left it on a train once. I felt sick when I heard the doors 'shush' behind me. I really did feel so upset, horrified and numb. So bizarre! I got it back though, it was easy enough. Truckstop

Hello all, Loving the look of the Bongo 6. Just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with them or if anyone knows where I could go and try one out? Any information at all (except the price tag) would be gratefully received! Truckstop

Yeah it is weird. Most of the cover bands around here play lots of Bowie, George Michael, Elton, MJ etc. Quite electic i guess, but no-one seems to play 'guitar legend' music. Which is a shame. Truckstop

Well, to be fair to Burton, I guess he was pushing the boundaries of rock/metal bass playing and had a very individual and recognisable 'sound' too. I think also his image did a lot for bassists in the way that suddenly bassists could take more of a lead role in metal. In a musical way and also in a performing way too. Having said that though, I do think he was too high on the list. Truckstop

I've never heard a cover band do 'Layla', 'Badge' or 'Cocaine'. Actually a lot of JJ Cale might be well received. Fleetwood Mac - 'Go Your Own Way' No-one ever seems to try Dire Straits either. Or Cannibal Corpse. Truckstop
