  17. I think it depends on what mood I'm in. I'm not in a band at the moment, so I'm mostly messing around with chords, different tunungs and effects at the moment. Mostly experimental stuff. When i was in the band though, I used to practice to metronomes and warm up properly with a few sets of scales. I also enjoy jamming to classical music as there's more space to try out weird runs and things because there's no vocals interfering. Truckstop
  18. Loverly! Thank you all very much for your help. Loads of options there! Truckstop
  19. Right, I'm planning for my build. I've already had some wick advice from Robbie (RIM) with regards to my thru-neck design and finishing and now I need some advice on something else! Basically, I'm really liking the look of Piezo pickups. I want to create a bass without an actual visible pickup on the front of the body and I've seen Piezo pickup'd basses achieve that look. But I have absolutely zero experiences with them. i've never played a Piezo bass and so I have no idea how the electronics part of it works. I'm also planning on having only 2 knobs, a volume and a tone as I won't be having more than one pickup to switch between Is it as simple as buying a 6-String Piezo Bridge, soldering it to a pre-amp, and then soldering it to a tone and a volume knob? Any help appreciated! Truckstop

  21. Oooh, how's the ESP? Had major GAS for one of those a while back! Truckstop
  22. I'd agree that a sound knowledge of theory could possibly impinge on your ability to groove and think abstractly. Also, I'm curious as to whether the Beatles got so big due to the image they created, or to the music? I always wonder that. Truckstop
  23. That link is so bloody interesting! It's a shame he didnt go into detail about how he distresses the bass though. I was amazed at the level of detail he puts into his work. Truckstop
  24. Ooh, I've really wanted one since I saw the Magic Numbers a while back and it sounded ridiculously good! Problem is though, it's quite small and I wouldnt be able to use it as a bedside table like I do with my EBS/GK-in-a-flightcase combo! Truckstop
