  1. the strap I have started to use again from about 82.
  2. I also use one of the newish bassman 500's , which I'm loving now I got the right sound dialled in.
  3. I have had a few MM's and EB's over he years, nice basses but ultimately not for me. Never tied the sub or Sterling but I do have a Japanese Ibanez ATK 300 that gets me pretty close to the Stingray sound and feel whenI'm in the mood. They are very well made and get you 90% there in the sound imho. Good luck, enjoy the search.
  4. That certainly added to it. Bought 5 off here, that I can remember of.
  5. I did have just the one bass from 89- till around 2003, but then it all got a little crazy.
  6. I'm a bit of a sucker for vintage instruments and a bit of boutique, tho I do have a few beaters.
  7. Hadn't heard or seen that before! Well worth the watch.
  8. Public Image Ltd - Public Image Ltd. The easiest but still great!
  9. As the title says Not gas free, but curbing the urges. (anyone got a Jaydee they want rid of )
  10. I have seen Norman himself use one live and it sounded pretty good.
  11. That's what's been on mine for the last 5 years or so, same set
  12. I have 2 P's but one round one flats, covers nearly everything for me..except the Wal gets used 90% of the time
  13. Awesome and amazing. I kind of wish you had broken into some singing as well. If you can do that you have it all nailed.
  14. I think it's mainly for acoustic guitar, kind of like a hum kill.. not anything like any HPF that I have tried. I never engage the rumble filter when I use an electric bass. (thins things out a little too much if I remember correctly)= Lozz maybe has more details.
  15. For me, I found half-rounds to be not so good at either. I stuck them on a fretless in the end and had a bit of joy with them. Not for me but worth experimenting with.
  16. Not tried the fx's, but the Labella's are my choice of flats after trying many types. The FL's are what I use.. Highish tension but nowhere near the roto's and a little lesser tension than the ghs's if I remember correct. Not sure about the sound differences mine have been on one of my P basses for 6 or 7 years now.
  17. and the mothership was out. P-bass and flats to accompany it.
  18. Congrats. I also hope to own one someday. Looking forward to the replies.
  19. I've only owned two a 2001 and an 86, the Pre EB 86 was by far the best, nicer sounding preamp (for me) and the neck was well played in and very fast and smooth. Shame I just don't really get on with Stingrays enough to keep hold of them for some odd reason!
  20. Yes, it's a lot of money, but still puts a lot of basses out of reach!
  21. There must be something you have always really fancied, try that. I have been through a few good basses but getting a custom build done was the pinnacle for me, maybe it's the waiting for the build that makes it that much more special. I don't think I would ever want to move it on.
  22. It's funny so many Wal's seem to of gone unloved. I know I had a hard time trying to find a fretted MK1 that someone was willing to sell.. waited over 6 months for one to come up on here. (maybe it was bad timing) For me the awkward basses have been..stingrays (the preamp, never could settle on a sound I liked) great playability tho. Ricks, just find they dull and slow up my playing Jazz basses , necks a bit too narrow (on the ones I owned and tried) Most semi-acoustic basses because of the strap pin positions There I said it...
  23. I haven't really hated any, but a few have come and gone. Worst bass was definitely my starter bass a shortscale 4-kay from Wollies with an action a foot high..anything is ok after that.
