  1. Dukey Stick off this album is a favourite of mine.
  2. Reading the relevant portion of the manual will be helpful: I addressed this also in the FAQs: http://gg.index.hu/pandamidi/FI_v3/FI User Guide v3.03 (online).pdf#page70
  3. As I said, it’s not really synth-driven. There are other Stevie tunes which are better candidates for synth bass.
  4. I’ll have a listen and see if I can cop it. The bass line is mostly electric bass and Rhodes, the line is doubled an octave up on a plucked-sounding instrument which could be synth or guitar.
  5. Most of the listed interfaces are of the kind which have integrated cables. Which one have you gone for? Other than that, all you need is two standard audio cables for input and output.
  6. @andybassdoyle, @Bo0tsy
  7. Had a blast at creating some faux exponential FM effects just now:
  8. The knobs should just pull off upwards. They can be a bit stiff though.
  9. Presume you mean “Musicman” as opposed to “musician”.
  10. Does this have the metal shaft upgrade for the cutoff knob?
  11. To save yourself money and a headache, read the end of the manual for tested compatible interfaces as there are some that don’t work properly.
  12. Yep, that will work nicely. You can flip between the two modes simply by either playing a midi note or by playing your instrument.
  13. The editor is a little different now, but more logical. Have a read of the manual. I wrote it in such a way as to hopefully be easily digestible and wrote a section on building sounds from scratch.
  14. I was very late to the party. It’s 1980s tech so pretty easy really. The format was, until very, very recently still on 1.0! It’s not as daunting as it might seem. Ask if you have questions.
  15. I also meant sending notes from the footswitches on the MC6 so you can play the foot pedals while still playing bass.
  16. Plus another 122 onboard presets if you hook it up to a controller.
  17. Reminds me, I must buy one again.
  18. Some great options out there. This isn’t the most versatile as there’s no direct control over cutoff frequency or envelope shape (unless you buy one of the opto mod cards to swap out) but it sounds lovely as is. The newest 3leaf Proton is worth a look. I’d still like to try out the Chromatron too. For bandpass and upsweep only, the MXR Bass Envelope Filter is brilliant and cheap.
  19. For those of you who do Facebook, I’ve set up an FI user group. I figured it might also pull in some other people who don’t use this forum. Please join and share: Log into Facebook | Facebook
  20. Have you tried sending notes from the MC6? Does your keyboard have a sequencer? You can trigger the FI with a sequencer too. An Arturia Keystep would be a good companion.
  21. That’s what the cv input port is for - it allows you to adjust the gain knob remotely with an expression pedal when switch direction. (I originally thought it would function as a pedal wah but it doesn’t and Rand confirmed this to me in a Facebook livestream last week.) I agree, it’s an odd choice. Personally I would have left the up/down as a toggle switch and had the second footswitch activate a pedal wah like on the Xerograph and Wonderlove. And I’m still bummed that they didn’t include a band pass mix mode like on the QTron - absolutely essential for bass.
  22. The FI smokes the super synth, which doesn’t even have a square wave. Minitaur is phat. You might still find you need the Roland. Not all interfaces can handle the large amount of midi data. My Focusrite Scarlett is fine for patch creation, saving and general use but cannot handle the firmware updates or the process of writing 99 patches to the pedal.
  23. Nice. Make sure you order an interface to have ready for when it arrives. Roland UM-One MK2 is the most reliable.
