1.
then into a Pearce BC-1 (bass preamp)
You'll probably need a power amp if you're running it into a cab
 2.
How does that sound?
Try it and let us know...
 3. Yes, it's perfectly fine to use a guitar pre-amp with your bass.
 4.
When I saw Genesis on their Mama tour in 1984, Mike Rutherford was using a doubleneck gtr+bass Status. In fact, Status made all the guitars and basses used by Daryl and Mike at that gig. Seemed to be quite a promotional splurge. Whatever happened to that doubleneck, I wonder?
It's now in the hands of a chap called David according to the Statii site. Btw it's a Strata double neck bass/guitar. Wil
 5.
Take a look at the Majors reading exercises in the Theory and Technique section-they are a good starting point. Also check out www.studybass.com
+1

 8.
Speaking as an older person, and quite possibly the age of the potential mother in law paying for the wedding, anything that has a number representing a word in a text-speak styleeee would instantly get the thunbs down from me. Same as Toys R us gr8s and produces 4boding and sounds like yoofspeak 2 me ..
Yup... good point, however, it opens up the possibilities of getting an 'original' name and a .com address. Just food 4 thought. Wil
 9. What is the opinion of the other band members (unless I've missed it)? If you feel the drummer is no good, then eventually you'll get fed up with him and it'll stop being fun, which was the point in the first place... If he doesn't use the bass drum that worries me. Good luck Wil
 10. How about theband4all (theband4u already exists)?
 11.
Apparently a bit of a c*** of a person though according to a source of mine...
If I was a "Sir" and had a purported fortune of £800m+ I wouldn't give a **** what people thought of me.

 14. I think Macca 'the man' is bigger (better known) than Macca 'the bassist in the Beatles'. He's done very well for himself arranging the same notes we all use in a commercially advantageous and very popular way to make lots of money. I have respect for what he's achieved, not only as a bassist, but as a musician. I'm not sure I like the guy (I've never met him, thus reserve judgement). His contribution to music is undeniable (and to this thread) as is his influence on many musicians (not just bassists). Wil
 15. ...been thinking to fit height adjusters to my upright... http://www.mjbl.co.uk/index.php?option=com...dj&Itemid=9 ...price is about right... You could save money if you were to do it yourself (that's the route I'm thinking off). Good luck Wil

 17. If the XLR is similar to a Wal, then you'll probably need to put a 1/4" jack in the jack socket to activate the XLR signal out (unless the XLR will accept phantom power). Wil
 18. Wrap the SM58 in a small towel / beer mat and wedge this between the tailpiece and the body (mic head looking upwards). Use the condenser in the room simultaneously with the SM58 and do a final mix between the two. Good luck Wil
