I seem to remember the slap lessons looked interesting for a complete beginner - did anyone ever tape them? Was there much useful information? I wasn't playing bass at the time I watched a couple.

Bit of a daft question, but what's the setup? All I can fathom so far is that everyone just congregates in a room with their gear. Do people then just tend to wander around talking to people, kind of like a bass party

As I've gone to rack gear, I no longer need these. The cables are the small right angle molded type, the power supply will definitely power Boss, Korg and Behringer pedals (cos that's what I used it for!!). I'll swap all these for a vented 1u rack panel if you contribute £2 via paypal towards the postage (and obviously post the panel). Will also swap these for a speaker jack cable. £10 posted? James

I bought this on a whim from ebay a couple of weeks ago. I've changed the strings and given the fretboard a clean, but I'm getting grief from her indoors about the amount of guitars I have (erm...7 ). Nice condition, no major marks at all. Complete with SX cover (bit too thin to call it a gig bag ) So last in, first out (plus I don't really need it - I've got an SX for work). TBH I only bought it as I always wanted to play one... Looking for £60 plus postage which will be £12. Was on hold, but I haven't received the money, so its back up for sale Will deliver for fuel to Manchester/Leeds/Sheffield. I live in Hull.

Back when I used to play six strings (ahem...) I GASed after a Tokai Love Rock for years. Just wondering what the bass equivalents are like? While I'm at it, why haven't Gibson Les Paul basses ever become popular?

Heads up AKG Bug deal at S/control
The problem is that the old unit uses a different rack mounting system (AKG RMU60) which are not readily available - possibly discontinued. The newer ones use RMU40.
Yup, I read that too but it's bollards - I have the old unit which I've just racked using an RMU40 racking system from Thomann - even though it states on the page that they don't fit - they DO!! -
Our practice room is loud as sin, it's been crippling my poor ears for ages. Our drummer is a proper rock monster, and there's three guitarists, so I've had some hearing issues myself. Finally gone back to wearing ear plugs, and the difference it's made is incredible. Not only has my head stopped ringing after every rehearsal, but the clarity in everything is so much better. I can hear me, but I can hear exactly where the drummer is heading too (usually off on a tangent somewhere ), so it might be worth trying that!
I've got some in my gigbag - it's summoning up the courage to put them in Think I'll see how we get on - it might turn into a volume war with a second guitarist...
It may be that yout tone pot and capacitor don't suit the Thumper (I'm assuming it's a standard passive here). If the pot is a 500k then a 250k may help, also a larger value capacitor i.e. 0.047 microfarad as opposed to 0.022. This may tone it down a bit. Peter
Cheers, how do I know which I have? Bass in question is a Fender CIJ Precision 62 reissue 105-dmc
Here's a few slow uns we do : Dusty Springfield - Son of a preacher man
I could be way off as I've never played it, but I've always thought of that song with a loud souped-up chorus to add dynamics??

I bought a Wizard Thumper in January for my MIJ P as the standard pickup sounded a bit wooly low down. I am very pleased with the sound when the tone is off, but when I try and brighten up the sound, I get loads of finger harmonics with my picking hand. Is this just bad technique, or is it a consequence of a high power, overwound pickup?
but I'd got it into my head that they sounded better/fatter/fuller...
They do - I swapped my MIJ P neck for a Jazz neck and the Precision now sounds a bit honkier and not as rumbly. The neck woods looked different - the fingerboard on the P neck was a lot lighter(cocoa colour) than the Jazz neck (almost black).

Just thinking about this (being in a new band, and all ) We've got a keyboard player and planning on two guitarists as well as the singer. So, bass one side of the drums/keyboard on the other? Which side is best for playing in time Am I best sticking close to the high-hat? I do try and focus on the kick-drum...
I find its the higher end of the cymbals and guitars that mean i cant hear the bass as well. move away from the drummer. Gutiraists are dim. make sure their amps are pointing at them and not at you. Often if you turn them down the drummer deosnt feel he has to play as loud. Or if the drummer has a monitor turn that down....
Nah, no monitors - we are all born agains (makes more sense if you're a biker...). Couple of issues with the drummer - he hasn't played for a year (so is probably still letting off a bit of steam), and it's a cheapo kit which is in the rehearsal room - the ride is particularly bad.

I'm looking at getting a pair of 4 ohm Nemesis cabs (unless I change my mind yet again...) and was wondering if anyone had tried the NSP212? Ideally I'd go with a 210 and a 115 but they don't make the 115 in 4 ohms I realise all else being equal the 12s should go a bit lower, but wondered if the extra size was worth it? Or would I be better off going for 1x212 and 1x210? Superfly head, you see. If I got one of each, I could maybe take the smaller one to rehearsals?

I'm selling off all my pedals, as I'm going to rack gear for ease. Boss Limiter/Enhancer LMB3 - is immaculate (as brand new). £30 delivered. Also got a generic 6 plug multi adapter (works with Boss, Behringer and Korg pedals definitely, probably lots of others too!) £12 delivered. Peavey 115TVX 15'' 4ohm Bass cab - absolutely as brand new (could still be sat in the shop...). Looking for £100, and will help with delivery (I'm in Hull, can deliver for fuel to Hull/Manchester/Leeds/Sheffield). Can anyone interested email me: JLElvin (AT) googlemail (DOT) com as I'll get the messages instantly.
I guess you're refering to the 62 & 75 reissues as opposed to the 64 CS and maybe the 1970 CS ? I've had multiple examples of all 4 and consistency is the main factor The Custom Shop Instruments use better wood stocks and quality is just that bit better. For me the main difference is in the wood, choice selected wood better matured and usually lighter and more resonant. The Relic instruments have a lovely played in feel. This is my milage anyway Hope this helps Mark
Thanks for that, now just got to try and find the cash from somewhere
So how are you going to plug a low impedence mike with cannon 3 pin connector into your guitar amp?
You haven't seen the marshall acoustic combos then? Has an xlr connector on the front (complete with its own reverb)
