1.
You wouldn't need to re-record it - just run the FX between tape out and mixer input.
That would only work if I was using the V-Amp for just one sound, I need to use it for multiple guitars!
 2. I'm planning on recording a few songs with my current band as a bit of a show piece to get work. Our drummer has just bought a Yamaha DTxplorer digital kit, which has midi out. My control interface has midi in, so do I just connect the two? How's MIDI work? Will I get every part of the kit on different tracks or do I have to muck about with the number settings for the MIDI? If this is potentially very complicated, can someone point me towards a relevant website?
 3.
Hey, You still got the akg wireless rack plates? is this so you can mount it in a 1u long rackspace? cheers, craig
Hi mate, yes and yes!
 4. I'm about to start laying down my first track, and have been advised by quite a few people to record the signal dry, then add the effects later. How exactly do I go about this? Mainly thinking about electric guitar distortion, but reverb and likes would be good too. Main issue is that I'd like to hear the effects altered sound through my headphones (ie playing a guitar solo won't really inspire me if the signal is dry!). Effects wise, I'm using a Behringer V Amp pro and a Lexicon Alpha as the input. Any advice?
 5. Thanks for all the replies. I've got it sorted - if you right click on each part of the kit in Hydrogen you can solo that one part (ie snare, kick etc), then just export the song. Sounds like a faffing around, but only took me about five minutes to export the full kit onto seperate wavs...
 6. I'm getting close to laying down a drum track, and wondered how am I going to get my drum track into Cubase LE? Can I use MIDI? If so, how? Like the idea of being able to put the complete drum kit on seperate tracks - might as well make the most of the 48 tracks Any advice, or can you point me to a site that describes how to do this?
 7. Bugger, looks like Cubase LE is not auto mappable... anyone got a copy of Cubase sx they want to sell me
 8. Forgot to mention, I'm a bit of a gadget freak, so the more buttons, the better What about one of these? http://www.absolutemusic.co.uk/shop/view_p...oduct=novzerosl
 9.
Korg are about to bring out an extremely tiny one, the nanoKONTROL. Looks like Digital Village will be selling it for £59.
That looks ace - shame it's not out till Spetember! Any other recommendations around £100?
 10.
try this one http://www.mackie.com/products/mcupro/index.html
I've done a search and it looks like they are the thick end of a grand! Probably worth it, but this is just a new hobby! Only thing that puts me off the Behringers is that I've just had a quick look at the manual, and assigning buttons/setting it up looks pretty difficult.
 11.
Behringer BCR2000 and BCF2000 are both very good for the price...
Those look interesting. Is there anything which is designed for cubase? Just getting to grips with it! Any others I should look at? How do they work? Do you have to assign the buttons, or is there something more complex that does it for you?
 12. Sorry for the crap title. Just wondering if there is a console which plugs into your computer software making it feel like you are using a dedicated unit as opposed to using a mouse - ie for recording a track I'd click a button on my desk as opposed to using a mouse. To alter a volume I'd physically move a fader and not have to faff with the mouse... Anything exist which gives an analogue experience to PC digital software? There is surely a market for this type of thing!
 13. I've sold my rack gear, and these are all I've got left. Both immaculate condition. The rack ears (two long, one short) fit the AKG SR40 wireless unit - they may fit others... £10 delivered. Also a rack blanking plate in black (I think it's a 2u). Immaculate, I bought it to mount a power adapter on, but didn't have the room in my rack case £5 delivered. Superfly rack ears £10 delivered. Superfly housing and carry case - email me as they are quite heavy (these are the bits that come as standard on a new unit - would suit someone who has a tatty outer case and want to sell their unit). Paypal OK as is a cheque/postal order. I live in Hull, and ocassionally get up to Sheffield.
 14. Cheers for all the replies. I got a Lexicon Alpha, and what a brilliant piece of kit it is! Just need to sort a drum program out and I'm ready to go
 15.
Try the Addictive Drums demo - doesn't time out and easy enough to use ( only one kit to play with but it'll get drums onto your song for free)
Cheers, but was hoping for toms too...might have to go with this unless anyone out there has a copy of something they could send me
 16. I took the plunge and bought a Lexicon Alpha external soundcard complete with Cubase. Could do with adding drums to a track I'm playing with, but don't know where to start. Any advice? A live drummer is out of the question for the time being.
 17.
how much? got any pictures?
As the title - £70 posted (no Paypal unless you pay the fees). The V amp pro and 6u bag are also for sale...
 18. As the title. About three months old. Selling due to going back to pedals. Immaculate condition, sorry no box but would package it well in a donor box.
 19. I'm familiar with audacity (from messing with the H2's files). Would audacity work well with multitracks?
 20.
If your song ideas are pretty much down ...
No, not at all. Being completely honest I picked the acoustic up for fifteen minutes yesterday, and in that time had two verses, pre chorus, chorus, melody and chord structure down. I've NEVER done anything that thorough, that quick. I'd only picked the acoustic up to bash out the regular GNR Civil War riff, and things just started happening. Some things are meant, and that was one of those things... Woke up this morning thinking about guitar parts?? All from someone that hasn't done any writing (at all) in ten years (even then it was mainly lyrics).
 21.
Arrgh, it gets a bit confusing if you're not sure what you want to acheive! If you probably wont need more than 2 mics at the same time, combined with some line inputs (and you could combine the H2 if you drag things into time, which is quite easy), there are sh*t loads of cheap interfaces out there with 2 built in pre-amps. EG M-Audio Delta 1010Lt, Mbox (I think it has 2 preamps?) tascam us122 etc
I agree! To make things easy, will just look at recording myself at the moment. IE only one track needed at a time. Willing to consider the H2, but would need really really easy software to drag the tracks into the correct (start) timing. Is there software that will allign based on a starting click or something? Like a timecode in video editing?
 22. ...would 4 tracks be enough? How is digital bouncing these days? I can see myself getting carried away with guitar tracks (got about 4 rhythm part ideas just for an acoustic...)
 23.
Fair enough, it could be a bit of a bitch, and if you want to multi-track at band practice then the H2 is a bit useless. Like I say, the 788 looks good value, but I can't find that much info on the net regarding how many tracks it will record at once, if you can export data to a PC etc etc.
TBH I'm still drawn between software and a seperate recorder. I've got a spare PC, and I suppose I could try a few different programs. I like the idea of being able to switch on and start recording (but I aren't a technophobe, got a HND in Computer Programming...for all the good it did me )
 24.
if you've got a half decent computer then get an Mbox Mini with ProTools LE 7.4 for about £160 from ebay. Amazing value for money for the industry standard in digital recording.
Only thing that puts me off is how easy will pro tools be? I'd like to spend my time perfecting my ideas, not getting frustrated with the software! My PC is well up to the job - Dual core/2GB RAM currently not doing anything as it's the fourth PC in the house and hasn't been switched on for 3 months.
 25.
The 788 looks good to me for £80. I can't find out how many tracks you can record at once. Does the H2 not have a line input? You could plug your guitar into a line input through a pre-amp of some sort (like a pedal, or an active bass would be ok).
Would that not be a serious faff with other tracks? How easy would it be to line the tracks up in software? The H2 doesn't have multi track capabilities like I think the H4 does (even though the H2 can record four tracks from the four microphones to balance the sound...)
