1. I bought two 2x10s off here a few months ago, the idea being to leave one at the rehearsal room and one at home. The home speaker has not been played since I got it, so it seems daft keeping it. Sounds awesome when paired up with a 1x15. Immaculate condition, corners still have all their paint. This is the vinyl version. Looking for £100 or swap for decent ish acoustic guitar (can be a bit knocked around as its only to sit in the living room). Based in Hull, but can meet half way. I'll post photos if there's any interest.
 2. ...just wondered if it was worth the £50? The instant drummer software looks interesting, is it any good?
 3. I've been looking around at getting a new bass, and am considering a vintage reissue Jazz. A few American dealers have the 62 reissue, which doesn't seem available here. I can only see the 64 reissue for sale in the UK?? Is the 62 an older version (err apart from two years )
 4.
Are you looking for one of those P necks that had J neck spec, "A" neck type. Apparently, some were made like this but most common were the "B" type. Have you considered the neck radius? I don't know what radius Stingrays are but your reissue would be a 7.25"...Stingrays 10 or 12??? new Fenders are 9.25" radius. I found my hand cramps came from the ultra slim or "shallow" profile of my Geddy, the theory being that there wasn't much neck filling my hand and as I play with my thumb behind the neck always as OTPJ mentioned, I found my thumb had to pivot causing cramps and fatigue but lots of people play the Geddy with out problem, I've also since found that a vintage radius is very difficult for me to play. I've since gone to the modern Fender shape and radius...C and 9.25" and again like OTPJ says they are very comfortable but of course it's all a matter of taste and what's best for you. Just my opinion
Both reissue necks (the P and the replacement J) had 7.25'' radius (I am led to believe..)
 5.
I would imagine that if you are getting cramp while playing it's not the neck shape that is the problem, but you are holding your hand incorrectly. Maybe you should lengthen the strap to drop the body and angle the neck up to let your hand rest more naturally on it.
I appreciate the comments, but I only got cramp with that one neck - never had it before or since...
 6. Bought my daughter a crappy Bontempi pink classical (£25 off ebay ), just to get her used to having a guitar around (shes only 16 months...). Just wondered how anyone elses experiences were of teaching their kids. I'm going to see if I can get her interested in the next couple of years. Must add that I'll try every year or so once she's a bit older, but she will NOT be pushed into anything she doesn't want to do (she's a firey little bugger anyway ). Wife is very keen on this (forced into Piano lessons when she was younger). Any advice what to start with? Nursery rhymes? Theme tune to Fifi?
 7. I always thought my problem was nut width, but now I'm not so sure. I've got a MIJ 62 RI Precision that I changed the neck on as I was getting hand cramps with the neck. However, I've just played a Stingray which supposedly has a Precision like neck, and found it really comfortable?? I think the reissue P has a 'U' neck, so maybe I am more sensitive to neck shape? I presume most basses have a C shaped neck? I'm looking for a new (old) Precision, and have maybe mistakenly dismissed a lot of fantastic basses thinking I wouldn't be able to play them... So is nut width linked to comfort, or is it just string spacing? How would all this fit in with an early 70s Precision? Thinking of Beedster's B necked sunburst...so confused!!
 8. Cheers for the links. There's a gorgeous 83 Elite I on ebay, but its got a 1.75 nut width (which IS too big!!)
 9.
Talk to me dude, I'm selling two 70's Precisions...
I thought I already had Need an A neck, sadly
 10.
that looks really nice. if you really want it & you can afford it i'd say buy it & enjoy.
I do, I can, but I wont. Phoned the shop up to see if there was any movement at all on price, bloke wouldn't budge - which seemed strange considering he was selling it on behalf of a customer... TBH I'd want one with the original case. Sad thing was if the guy had made a token gesture (like £50 or something) I'd have bought it. Just too much cash for the condition. Frustrating when I've got the cash, but can't find the bass. I'm checking ebay US/Talkbass classifieds three times a day
 11.
It's a pawn shop and as such it works on the basis that you REALLY need the money and will accept whatever stupid price they offer you. You agree the price with them ... you don't have to accept what they offer ... and ..Had you popped back a few days later with £300 you could have had the lot back Mind you £1200 of 35 mm camera stuff is probably only worth £150 now ......
I was young and didn't understand the Pawn side of it back then - the gear was offered as a direct sale. Oh, and it never materialised in the shop. Got my revenge by selling them a highly faulty Olympus for top money I am going back 15 years though...
 12.
I suppose the idea is that if I decide to sell it on then I don't have to feel like a complete bastard for trying to make some money on it - although why I should even care given the ridiculous amount of money I have lost on bass gear (mainly through this forum) over the years is beyond me. It's kind of disrespectful to any future purchaser, if I blab on and on about how I paid £1.50 for this bass, don't you think? That was never the point of this post! I'm not short-sighted enough to think that I won't ever sell it, because I know me too well, but I thought people might find my story interesting and perhaps inspire a few more bargain discoveries in Crack-Generators across the land. As it is I will almost certainly keep this bass as it will make a great back up for my function band duties. Got some of the dings touched up today, and it's looking much better already. Will post some more pics when I've polished it and have it looking dandy, for those amongst you who may or may not care.
Sorry mate, my post sounded a bit aggressive and wasn't meant to be. It just bugs me when people won't tell me what they paid for stuff (like a car), like it's some conspiracy or something. I appreciate the thoughts about selling it on, but TBH as long as you keep it a while first then you just sell at market value. It's not your fault Crack Converters didn't do their homework properly...
 13. Cheers for that huge reply. Looks like its a bit of a minefield Will check that link.
 14. Why not put the price in the title? FWIW I think that's a realistic price - Electro Music have a few in at £1k new.
 15. Why the secrecy of the price - people like this make me laugh - what's it bloody matter? If you got a bargain you'll get a pat on the back, if you overpaid, then we'll just laugh... Crack Convertors are (were?) the biggest bunch of rip off merchants I have ever come across (back in the days when I had little cash, I flogged all my expensive belongings to keep a car on the road...distinctly remember selling £1200 worth of camera gear for £250 )
 16.
From memory, this was one of the nice Precisions of the era (fenders move on the MM market) - if its a real player, ok weight and has aged well I think it'd be a good buy. You should be able to get that price down a bit...and/or some extras?. The only downside I can see is brass hardware can look awful if it gets too grubby! BB
Depends what you mean by aged well - it's well battered and has loads of Mojo (to me at least). Custom shop relic amount of abuse?? Or do they differ too ?? Price wise, they would do a Gator hard case at cost (£35), and post it for me for free (not going back that way). The brass hardware looks well worn/looking silver, but TBH the bass could not be described as grubby - no rusty screws or mank, just well worn
 17.
Buy it
I seem to remember you don't like an A shape neck...want to sell me yours
 18.
Forgot to mention before... they don't all have A-width necks. Some of them are quite chunky.
Oh bugger it. Am I right in thinking that I like the Precision A shape (ie on any A necked Precision would the neck feel very similar?). If that's true, what other Precisions should I look at?
 19.
hmmm, id be inclined to spend your money elsewere to be honest i mean if you really like it go for it, but ud struggle to sell i would think
Cheers, any more opinions? Does play really well - best in the shop
 20.
is that active? what are the controls?
Yep it's got an active/passive switch. The middle knob has a centre indent. First Fender active bass, apparently.
 21. ...and another photo...
 22. Heres a photo...sorry about the quality.
 23.
Depends what turquois. is it an origional fender colour, or a refin? it could be ocean turquois, or more likely a lake placid blue or something thats faded. i didn't think the precision special came in that colour, is it matching headstock? precision special has a jazz bass neck i think, if its the precision special im thinking of.
Matching headstock, I'll try and sort some photos out in a bit...
 24. I've the chance of a 1980 Precision Special in turquoise, which has been well used (not abused, but is quite worn). Whats the deal with these? Anyone got a ballpark figure for value? Doesn't have the original case, is active and sounds/plays great. Went into the shop looking for a Yamaha Attitude, thought this was a Fender relic at first... Anyone know what the neck is, as it's DEFINITELY not a chunky standard precision jobbie - 'A' shape maybe? It's up at £900 and I get the feeling that's not negotiable. What do you think? Has something a bit special about it.
 25.
James, here's a pic of my new American Std P in Blizzard Pearl. It looks ace in the flesh and is a colour which very few other people have at the mo'
hubba hubba that looks gorgeous!! Thinks I'm going to go for one of those with a maple neck.
