The Stage Clix doesn't require the 9v battery as it has rechargables which should last 5 years at which time you return the transmitter to the manufacturer and they replace them at a small charge and dispose of the old ones. Also, the Stage Clix includes Diversity 3 which means it will switch automatically and seamlessly between 3 channels depending on where the strongest signal is. No need to manually select the best one.

Ok, Ok here's the factual comparison, taken from Fly Guitars (somewhat of an authority on Gibson's)........and I quote: "The series was moderately sucessful, with high profile players such as Dave Kiswiney and Ralphe Armstrong endorsing the Victory Artist. As usual with Gibson basses, it didn't outsell the Fender Precision, and so fell by the wayside after five years". ...So you will let it slide now then?

I seriously suggest that everyone grows up. I made a comment that (in my opinion) the bass in question was "fairly bog standard" and look whats happened. I am entitled to my opinion. For heaven's sake, this sort of schoolboy "Sir, he's called my bass a nasty name Sir" is ridiculous! Get a life...... bored of this

I appear to have rung your Gibson bell don't I? Facts of the matter are that Fender have produced several hundred thousand P basses and Gibson only made three Victory Standards. Andy Baxter has one, there's the one on E bay and the bloke from the Wurzels has the other one. I rest my case. You seem overly sensitive about my 'bog standard' comment? In case you hadn't noticed the word 'standard' appears in the name of that particular model doesn't it, so I guess we are only at odds over the word 'bog'? I think I've got better things to do quite honestly.

A snake skin Gibbo! Who'd have thought? -
Hi Anthony and welcome. This is a great forum and everyone will be more than willing to give help and advice. Just ask. Cheers, LC

I've just bought the Stage Clix 'pack', which is for active basses. The 'jack' is not good for actives as it's too near the EQ when plugged into the jack socket and you get interference. As the OP states, you just use the short cable supplied from the input socket of your bass to the transmitter,( in your back pocket, or on the strap). I rehearsed yesterday with this for the first time and have to say it's brilliant. Not cheap, but solidly made, works extremely well, and I'm no longer tripping over my own lead. Can highly recommend. LC
I used to have a real hankering for one of these back in the 80's, but it looks awfully dated now.
There is no doubting that it's a good looking thing. It remains to be seen if these turn 'vintage' in the same way as a Fender. I doubt it personally though. The Artist models do fetch decent money and they are very 'whizzy' in the electronics dept, but the standards just don't stack up any more, and they're battleship heavy!
How many "fairly bog standard" basses do you know have a maple body, have 22-24 frets, have a series/parallel switchable humbucker, have a four in line angled headstock, have strengthening rods in the neck and have a bridge which is adjustable in all directions (action, intonation and string spacing)? I hate to think what your understanding of "bog standard" is.
I notice you have 2 artists models. Was the standard a bit too bog standard for you? It's a fact that many have tried to emulate the success of the Fender P, but most have failed dismally, including Gibson!

Squier 50th Anniversary Precision (SOLD pending the usual)**
LemonCello replied to LemonCello's topic in Basses For Sale
Hi Dave, Yes it's the very same and it's a corker as you know. Strangely, the volume and tone pots are wired the other way round. I asked Simon in Cardiff guitars to leave it that way when he had a look at it because I kinda like it that way. I was considering putting a Seymour in it but he reckoned the one that's in it is better! I don't know if all the Korean made Squiers were good but I'm kinda thinking that this one is exceptional, just so playable with a new set of Ernie Balls on it. Anyway, any buyer would be really pleased with it, but as I say, I'll leave it a few days and hang on to it if no-one wants it. LC -
Squier 50th Anniversary Precision (SOLD pending the usual)**
LemonCello replied to LemonCello's topic in Basses For Sale
Hmm...lot's of views but no comments. Methinks you all might be thinking this is a little expensive and I know this isn't a good time to sell. I decided on this price because this bass is so good. I've played a lot of Squiers and owned a few, and this one beats them all hands down. I'm talking myself into keeping it aren't I? I'll leave it here another week and keep it if no-one wants it. Cheers, LC -

One of Norm's basses in on sale at Andy Baxter Guitars, the shoreline gold one. No price on it so it's bound to be bucks!

Question on reading - in a big band setting
LemonCello replied to philwood's topic in Theory and Technique
A few years a go I depped for the cellist for a weeks run of The King and I and turned up for band call having never seen the dots!! The fact it was a paid gig made it worse (more pressure). I got to the theatre early to find the music on the stands and quickly rifled through it to see if there were any solo's of which there were a couple just so I wouldn't just happen across them during rehearsal. I need not have worried, the MD was a great bloke and made allowances for me getting to know the music and by the end of the week I could play it in my sleep. Don't forget to mark up your copy in rehearsal with all the vamps etc and enjoy it! There is nothing like playing with other musicians and you might find that some of them won't have had the dots for long either! Good luck LC -
It looks like a double glouster to me!

The same fella has a Daion power XX bass on E bay. I was drooling over it the other day, looked like it was built very well indeed.

Yeah, nice looking thing. A fairly bog standard failed P bass rival though. This one is not a bad price, there's one on Andy Baxter Bass for £850!
