1. I bought an Excess in trans black a little bit before you. I noticed this beautiful 5'er Arpege, but since I was after a 4. I' really happy with my Excess, the zero fret makes a difference and the build quality is top drawer. Enjoy it! LC

 4. That's a lot of dough! I notice one of Entwhistle's Buzzards was on here (and evil bay) recently and didn't sell despite a few price drops and it was cheaper than Norm's Fender!
 5. "Yeah" to all of the above. The Dan, still one of my all time fave bands, just so 'musical'. Get well soon Chuck LC
 6.
I could do with some of that. Get away from this damp, dark, cold, joyless friggin country for a bit.
Aye to that!

 8.
Yeah been reading up all these guys. They had the luxury of having custom strings made for them which I think could quite expensive. *edit* just emailed LaBella strings in the states for advice on this as Ron Carter uses them so they may well have made him a custom set for his cello
A new set of Larsen strings for my 'Cello is £170! LC
 9. Really sorry to hear that. All good wishes for whatever you do in the future. Sign of the times....sigh. LC

 14.
An exercise my mate showed me when I started, which I find useful was to play the classic 50's walking bassline, making sure to play one finger per fret style. If you start highish up the neck, the stretch shouldn't be a problem, and you can gradually move further up as your fingers get used to stretching. In tab, it would be as follows if played in C: -------------------------------------------------------------7-8-7------ ------------7-8-7-------------------7-8-7----------7-10-------7-10- -------7-10--------10-7----7-10---------10-7-8-------------------- ----8----------------------8-------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------7---------------------------------------- --------------7-8-7--------------9---9-----7-10-7----------7-8-7------- -------7-10---------10-7---10---------8--------------7-10-------10-7-- ----8--------------------------------------------------8---------------------- You should be using index finger on the 7th fret, middle on 8th, ring on 9th and pinky on the 10th when playing this. I still find this tiring to play in G. Try youtubing a few videos, see if any of them make sense. Also, your left hand should resemble the picture below, with your thumb on the back of the neck, not round the side, else you won't be able to spread your fingers in the slightest (it's comfy, but unhelpful). One last thing, experiment with how softly you actually need to fret to ring a clear note without buzzing, it's hardly any force at all.
Agree totally, thumb position is everything, and with your thumb in this position your hand will naturally 'spread out'.
 15. That's the big difference between a drummer and a drum machine....... You only have to punch the rhythm into a drum machine once!
 16. Does no-one else own a Vigier? C'mon guys get your pics up!
