1. Had a VM Jazz - very good. Got a Korean Squier P bass - astonishing!
2. I toyed a short while ago with getting a '63 EBO (my birth year) on the basis a P bass of the same vintage would set me back at least 5 grand while the EBO was £1,100? In the end I decided against it as I've heard EBO's can sound a bit 'woolly'. My latest GAS (courtesy of BGM) was a Krist Novoselic RD. I have however, got over that (and got another Fender)! Incidentally, I did play and Allen Woody and was mightily impressed with it, build quality, lovely wine colour, gold harware. A great shortie!
3. Not traditional I know, but I'm very curious as to the difference the pup's make in this. It'll arrive in time for band practice tomorrow night so I'll let you know! LC Update*** Bass arrived 8.30 this morning, got it out of the box, looked good, quite like the sparkle finish. Beautiful neck, frets looked good. So, peeled of the pickguard film, fitted some strap locks, plugged it in and....... ......Effing bridge pick up is DEAD!!! I've just taken it to a local shop where this was confirmed. Phoned Sounds Live who said they will replace it after they have this one back. Got to take it to work on Monday boxed up again, strap locks off again - aggravation!!! Bollox thrice, that's stuffed up my day, so much for Fender QC! LC
4. Surprised this hasn't gone? Has to be a bargain, I'll knock another £50 off, so first person to come up with £400 or a Bass can have it.
5. The TB Sig got a good write up in BGM recently...but then again, every guitar gets a good write up in BGM! Does make you wonder if he gets a Rick or something more exotic out when he gets home?
6.
Fagin's Chop House? Haven't been there for years - always used to go to the place that did the Mongolian food (The Anchor?) when I was on the piss in Taffs Well.
Yeah, I remember the Anchor, no more Mongolian food tho - Pizza now! Fagins now has bands on most nights and the ones I've seen there have been pretty good. The Cross Keys down the road in Nantgarw is being refurbed but thats a good music venue with a bit more space!
7. She's a fine looking beastie! Good luck LC
8. Sort of a Westone, Aria SB hybrid - Nice!
9. There's always the lottery!
10. Ernie Ball hybrid slinky's are my current fave, although I've recently put some Cocco's on my Vigier and I'm impressed.
11. If you make it all the way to Cardiff, I'll come see ya.
12. Hi Blademan and thanks for the offer which I'm gonna have to decline. I already have a fretless and the Viola isn't really my thing. Thanks anyway, LC
13.
What pub was that?
Fagin's in Taffs Well
14. Will swap for a Bass, if no-one wants to buy, I really need the space, my front room is looking like Bass Direct!
15. Where's the rest of it?
16. Some great stories (and pics) here! I guess it goes with the territory that (some pubs) don't have a lot of space. Didn't seem to faze last nights band where the audience was right in their faces! If we play there, I might stick a bit of sponge on my head stock!
17. Went to a pub not far from me to see a band last night. Very good they were too. I went to check out the venue more than anything else as we'll be out gigging soon. Don't know whether this is typical but they were 'shoe horned' in one corner, must have been no bigger than 10' by 10'. The guitarist literally had to move to avoid crashing into peeps as they got up to dance. At one point I noticed the bass player 'twang' his nice Stingray against the wall which quite understandably made him wince! I'm thinking I'll leave the Vigier at home and take my Squier! Anyone else played on a postage stamp? LC
18. Lazy Sunday afternoon bump...
19. Mick, You have some killer bass's man!
20. I had a Squier Vintage Modified P with an out of alignment pup. Poor QC? Didn't appear to make a lot of difference to the sound, just a little irritating. I've been looking at the MP Jazz in trans black. Worth the £400?
21. How about a Yamaha 500BBT class D head with matching 4x10 and 2x10 Yam cabs. All in minty fresh nick, cash diff your way? LC
22. Bump for a killer rig in tippy top nick
