1.
i've got a spare boss tuner (tu2). would you take that and 50 quid on top?
Hiya mate, Not quite enough. Tuner new £69 and they seem to go on here for about £40 £45. I'll take the tuner + £70 if its in good nick and complete. Cheers, LC
2.
what kind of effects are you looking for?
Hiya, Distortion/Overdrive/Chorus/pedal tuner
3. I'll put it in a nice new gigbag.
4.
You'll start with an overdrive and/or distortion (I like the Pigtronix Polysaturator and the Emma Electronic ReezaFRATzitz),and before you know it you'll be looking at Envelope Filters,Octavers,Chorus,Delay, Flanger, etc
Thanks Doddy, I just love the names of these things!
5.
Sounds like you want a bit of growl to your sound. I'd recommend the SFX Red Dragon or the DHA VT1, both very nice sounding low gain overdrives.
Cheers Gareth, I'll check them out.
6. Right, now that I'm playing through a 'clean' Amp rather than my Yamaha which had many presets I'm thinking of adding something extra to my sound. Problem is, I have no idea where to start, Big Muff, Cheese Grater Distortion. Diddly Squiddly Overdrive????? The sort of stuff we do is Black Crows, Strokes, Cream, Free, Deep Purple, Sabbath, Oasis, Undertones, The Who, Stereos, REM, Jet, Chillies etc. Any advice, opinions would be gratefully received! LC
7. From my classical music days I knew a Glasgow GP who happened to also be a very good pianist. He used to prescribe himself Beta Blockers. A vice principal Violinist who had to have at least 5 large Vodkas before going on. You are not alone, there are many 'names' who suffer terribly with the heebeegeebee's. Many of these have developed interesting 'coping mechanisms' over the years. One famous soprano used to go on stage wanting a wee, which gave her something else to think about! Familiarity with the dots, the venue, your band mates all help. Our drummer is cacking himself about our first gig. We go out of our way to support him, big up his drumming (which is actually very good), go over stuff he is concerned about etc. I've heard that hypnotism helps? LC
8. or swap for effects.....
9. I've just spoken to the rest of the band and we've decided that we will go back. Hopefully the guy will apologise mano a mano and we can all move on. He's young which is probably why he handled it in the wrong way. We're gonna give him the benefit of the doubt and see how it goes. You live and learn.
10. This a lot of quality gear for the money chaps type BUMP
11. Selling my franken fender fretless. This has been professionally de-fretted by Simon at Cardiff Guitars. Neither he nor I are aware of the make? Some of you might know based on the shape of the head stock? Anyway, it's light, in top condition, plays very well wearing flats and got me playing fretless to a very basic standard. Strangely for an inexpensive instrument, it seems to have very powerful pup's? I haven't had the scratch plate off to have a look. If you are looking for a cheap fret less to get you started, you could do a lot worse than this. Looking for [s]£125[/s] £100 posted please. Thanks for looking, LC
12.
Got anywhere else to go?
Yeah, plenty of options. We'd already decided to go back had the Microphone not turned so he could see the whites of our eyes. Now that it has, not so sure.
13. Strumming a 6 string no problem, pick up a bass - different story!
14. So here's the story. The band goes to a new studio Friday night for a couple of hours. Very nice too, big room and good kit. Rehearsal was good, we pay our twenty quid and off we go. Happened to go out without my mobile yesterday and when I got home 8 missed calls and a text from said studio "ring me back ASAP". I phoned back to be told "a Shure 58 has gone missing and you were the only band in last night, so you must have nicked it" "Whoa" I said, hang on a minute, where's your evidence? "You were the only band in so it must have been you" says he. Now I haven't been with this band long but we all work and I can't imagine for a minute that anyone's stolen anything. Unbeknown to me, he's also texted our guitarist, full of swearing and accusations of theft, gonna get the police involved etc etc. Anyway, long story short the band knows nothing about a nicked microphone and we phone him and tell him so. An hour or so after this, I get another phone call from the studio - he's discovered that his mate had taken the Mic home with him without telling him! To be fair, he did apologise, and so he should I reckon - just handled it all wrong! Question is do we go back? LC
15. Go on, you know you want to! That Celinder is lovely.
16. I noticed this the first time around and thought it was quite stunning. I suppose it's the sort of thing to polarise opinion but I for one love it! Good luck, LC
17. Cheers Guys. She's all boxed up again and ready to go. Sounds Live have been good about it and no-one could have known about the dead pup (except for Fender that is). I'm looking forward to the replacement. The one that's going back looked to be pretty well put together with the exception of a couple of niggles like a small dint on the E side of the neck and there being a bigger gap than I'd have expected around the bridge pup. The slot for the pup wasn't exactly rectangular either, you could see the first 'bite' of the router (if you see what I mean). The sparkly finish is quite nice, paint looks good. It is more of a champagne colour than white however. The replacement is an ex display since they only had two of them. I'm assured it's as new and unmarked. I'll let you know! LC
18. Hey Cosmo, the Amp is the BBT500H, see link at the top of this thread. It's a modelling class D. Lots of presets and a programmable mode. It's light and powerfull. Cheers, LC
19. More Pm's answered, thanks
