1. Replacement arrived and out of the box. Initial impressions good, both pups work this time! Honks like a Jazz, thumps like a Precision, finish good. More tomorrow! LC
2.
From the look of the hardware I'd hazard a guess it's a Harley Benton kit with the headstock shape modified. Forgive my speculative observation if this isn't the case. Bump.
You may be right but I still have no idea!
3.
Is it a solid body?
Yep solid body Dave
4. Great gigging rig for small and large venues due to the twin cab option.
5. This plays really well and is v punchy. Light too so those of you with iffy backs......
6. Far too many pro musicians that I can ever remember have been 'off their face' on stage. Duff MacKagan has sorted himself out and Alice Cooper has swapped the Beers for.......Golf - now I do object to that!
7.
The guy was really into bondage stuff, which I found out at Salzburg airport when his bags were accidentally tagged with mine I got asked to empty the contents of one of his suitcases infront of customs! Anyway, that's another story which I am not going to furnish BC with anytime soon! That's his business and I don't judge him for it, but I refused to be dragged into that world! He once asked me to wear a collar that was garnished with 10x 6" chrome spikes, asked me to wear a gimp mask one time and suggested that I would look good in a black PVC one-piece! Vans (clothing brand) saved our bacon though. They gave us a shed load clothes to wear on stage, so he backed off a little after that.
Good job you weren't wearing that up the Gurnos!
8. I'd appreciate knowing the name of the venue as we'll be out gigging soon. Pm will be fine. My old Bass tutor has done a couple of gigs in the Merthyr Labour Club without incident but we'll definately be swerving the Gurnos!
9. Erm....................................No!
10. Yamaha loveliness, like an XT 250 (for those that can remember)!
11. No worries, someone will love her. She plays really well.
12.
Didnt the shop give it the "once over" before they shipped it to you, I bet they will with the next one?
Sounds Live has a warehouse away from the shop which houses the new stock. If you order something new (as in not ex-display) it will come from the warehouse and so the staff in the shop won't have even seen it. It should really have been picked up at the QC stage after manufacture. Nick at Sounds Live has been very good about it I have to say. Replacement on its way. LC
13. Join my band.com has worked for me. You do have to trawl through the 17 year olds (and younger) who play thrash metal tho!
14. I'll be there!
15.
I loved that natural p they had in there, kept looking at it every week, think someone on here brought it then sold it again, so maybe one day eh
That was me. Ghost rider has it now. Amazing condition, loved everything about it apart from the fat C shaped neck. It's now paired with a '79 Fender Bassman head and cab.
16.
Shure SM57 all the way. Great for everything you've just mentioned! It's almost identical to the Shure SM58 which is the industry standard live vocal mic, however it doesn't have the protective casing, meaning you can get closer to the diaphragm. It's still commonly used live still, even without the protection. Normally around £90 but you can pick them up cheaper. I got mine form the Amazon marketplace for £50 I think. No recording artist should be without a SM57! http://www.shure.com...ment-microphone
+1 good kit
17. Blimey, a Rickenfrankenfendermanjazz thing!
18. I don't think it matters how long you've spent in music, I believe that some people suffer more than others. I've known professional musicians who have been in music all their lives who suffer with debilitating stage fright. I would have thought it's treatable - hypnotherapy already mentioned, it's a mind thing after all.
19.
Threatening places you still want to use isn't the way.
Just for clarity, I haven't threatened anyone/any place. We've decided to go back collectively as we like the place. I'm sure the guy in question will do the honorable thing and apologise face to face and well all get back to making music!
20.
Yes, name please.
Pm'd
21.
+1 to a free practice. Which rehearsal rooms is it?
Pm'd
