Has been up before, there was discussion about it not nearly being fender and the control plate shape.

Partly a judgment call, but you can slide them under sting pressure when they are close. Is a ballpain though, I like monorail bridges as I prefernarrow spacing. Get them roughly in, tune up, tap to correct, lock.

Actually, those aren't mine, just the 8x10, they are my housemate's. Definitely stacking 3 at some point though. the 6x12 is surprisingly dinky, fair bit handier than the 4x12, but the 6 ohm and my Matamp disagree.
-
Wanna buy a Techamp 6x12? I just scored a GS412. Mwahahaha Also, really, you need a pair before they really open up. And a third just about kicks you into Doom: Oh, and, er, does anyone wanna gimme a lift to Liverpool and back to Bristol?

Acoustic 126 combo - finally Sold, woo

Might have got a bit excited with some other cabs, and have to make some space. This is very light, and surprisingly practical, which is not Doom. 6 12" speakers is Doom, but a 6 ohm impedance is not ideal for valve amps, so it must move on. Hoping Wayne won't mind me recycling his pic, its at the practice space currently. £600, collection in Bristol. Is a used cab, so is not pristine.

"Can I have a go on your bass, mate?"
Mr. Foxen replied to arthurhenry's topic in General Discussion
I have ugly basses, so its not generally an issue. What annoying me is when someone has it in their hands and looks at the name on the headstock before they start playing it. Grrr. -
There's a Thunderjet just appeared on eBay - has anyone owned one of these?
I had a jet, they have a maple body, probably means less neck dive, it was quite trebly, but it had new strings on it, which may have explained that. Really, you should go buy my Thunder 1A, surprised I still have it, thought it would be first thing to go in my sale.
Also you must take into account that with strings going through the body extra string length is used and as a result not all string makers offer long scale strings which means on an all-in-line headstock you might not have enough length for the G strings to wrap around the post.
More common issue I've found is the E string gets narrow before it reaches the nut. I've converted a few of my basses to through stringing, try and get the longer/deeper ferrules, so string length is less of an issue. And use sharp ddrills to not wreck your finish.

The resale value bit is a poor argument. If you can put the bits into the bass, you can take them out again, put the originals back in, sell it all off separate, or stick the bits in another bass.

Wizard thumper or SD SPB-3 Quarter Pounder
Mr. Foxen replied to neptunehealer's topic in Bass Guitars
Well i haven't a clue how to change them and am scared of messing it up. The bass i am after is the 2009 Fender P-bass, the reason i am pre-judging the pups is because it's a mexican model. The SD's are in the actual delvery packaging, so i may sell them on here.
Scariest part is soldering, and its not fiddly, and there is not much scope for doing it wrong there unless you lick the iron or something. Is just a whole bunch of removing screws, and then putting them back. -
I suppose it begs the question - Why do you want such heavy strings? The other thing to remember is that the heavier the string set, the more tension you need on your trussrod. Strings as thick as those mentioned will cause your neck to bow like a banana!
I was playing detuned to A, and I like heavy strings, plus the playing super slow needs the sustain.

Actually, I might have the preamp circuit from a bass like that, 4 string, with the slanty J pups, want it? Oli

Mr. Foxen replied to neptunehealer's topic in Bass Guitars
Don't pay some one to change them, easy to do yourself in a P bass, just try them. Easy to sell if you don't like 1/4lbers. -
Do you still have the old pots? Sounds like its the lin/log pot problem. Can't recall which is problematic, but checking the old ones will tell ya. I am already filled with distrust for your 'local guy', I reckon you can get the right pots, just post up what they say on the back, or a pic of them.

I think a tuner is a good candidate for being a really big pedal, but not sure they use the space as well as they could have there.
Anyone see the TV documentary on Lemmy a few years back? It was on BBC2 I think, following him around on tour. Very interesting. In his spare time he reads Jeeves & Wooster novels, believe it or not!
Is that the one with the woman going on tour with them and asking stuff like 'Do you ever have breakfast, Lemmy?' Lemmy holds up Jack and coke 'What d'ya think this is?' Reckon he nailed her.
