Volume knob sorts the level jump, if has a big range as it has the juice to go direct to a power amp. The high knob is boost only, although the character simulation of the pedal includes a speaker sim with the treble roll off built in (switchable on later ones). So bear that in mind.

Does look a lot like a 70s catalogue bass.

Sounding a bit rubbish on its own doesn't matter so much in context.

Making guitar speakers is too niche for going out of your way to please them when they are happy with their inferior products. They still buy telecasters and Gibsons with comedy detachable headstocks.

I guess the simple answer to the original question is because he didn't want to learn his way around a whole new bass. There is a lot to be said for familiarity of an instrument.

I guess it is a skill thing, monkeys can handwire valve amps.

They do cut the low, and they respond very well to valve changes. Good if you do the clean blend thing. I'm sort of looking out for a cheap one.

When he gets a bit older, he's going to wish he got good at playing the sort of music girls his age like.

They are definitely appreciated for their messiness rather than their faithful tracking.

Is it bone conduction throwing you off, because of the speed of soun in bone and the inside of your ear binging moved from the wrong side?

I have a Whirlwind cable I bought from a clash roady about 10 years ago, he showed me a photo of Joe Strummer with his son who was there at the time, because I looked doubtful about the Clash connection. It was probably old then, it has been totally reliable, and I still reach for it when demoing amps to people.

Every for sale thread is an individual entity, but every fingers vs. pick thread is the same thing. So there being more for sale threads seems correct. I come for the GAS, I stay for the being an internet know-it-all.
